Everybody has a hectic life, even old retired me! Let's take ten minutes today to fit in some "ME" time. I plan to sit in the "parlour", sip herb tea and read my new gardening magazine. How about you? yourself!
Yesterday was a quiet day on the homefront as I sure didn't feel like driving anywhere in the rain. I did finish and efile our taxes and was pleased to find we have a refund this year. I hope to heck they are right! I used Quicktax which was neat and the first time I've used it.
Today Donna comes to clean and the Girls go for their Spring vaccinations and bloodwork for heartworm check. I hope to get outside for a while and poke around the garden. I think things are starting to happen - finally!
What are you going to fit in for yourself this Friday?
Morning came too fast, I could use at least another hour or so today. We closed on our refinancing yesterday and treated ourselves out to dinner afterwards where I helped Jake polish off a carafe of wine. I'm not a big drinker, so it doesn't take much for me to have a nice buzz. It was nice, though. I'd been under so much stress lately, and it was the perfect antidote.
So hurray, it's Friday! Actually I think this week went by pretty fast, but there's always something special about Fridays. I'm planning to take the girls to Boomers for the afternoon, we're all suffering from cabin-fever and it will be a nice change. I'm expecting Cindy will want me to stay late today since she let me leave right after lunch yesterday.
Well, I have to do my hair and find something for lunch, so I'd better leave for now. Have a wonderful day!
Good Morning!
I have been reading this week, but not a lot of posts. Life has just felt busy, busy, busy! Tonight (and tomrrow during the day) DH and I are preparing for our Wine and Murder Mystery party tomorrow night. The list of "to do's" just seems to grow - from cleaning, to buying, to cooking, to just getting ourselves ready. I am sure it will be fun though and I just remind myself that our friends our coming for a good time, not for perfection!
Ruth - I love the "me time" idea, maybe I will find a bit of time for my latest book. I hope your garden is coing to life after a long, cold winter.
Cottage - congrats on closing and enjoying that carafe of wine!
Oh Ruth, me time sounds wonderful! I might have to do that this weekend. What kind of pups do you have? We have a greyhound named Nadia and a foster dog named Steve, they are just a hoot!
Cottage...mmmm, wine, yum.
Ally, wow, that sounds like a fun party!!!
I made fajitas for dinner last night, the plan was to wrap them in lettuce leafs, but they weren't quite strong enough...but oh so yummy! I am going to the store on my way home from work. It has been fun trying new things.
My husband has done so great, he has lost 10 pounds so far in phase one, I am so proud of him! His eating habits were TERRIBLE before! Lots of bread and sweets and he has even been out to lunch a couple times and made good choices!!
I am back at it today and am looking forward to my first successful day on the beach. I still need to run to the grocery store, I just didn't have it in me after flying back yesterday. Fortunately I have cheese in the fridge for breakfast. Wish me luck!
Ruth - Great thread idea!
cottage - wine, mmmm! Have fun at boomers!
amasam - Your party tomorrow night sounds so cool! You'll have to be sure to let us know how it goes!
Amber - 10 pounds is great for your hubby! Fajitas sound so good, maybe I'll pick some stuff up when I go to the store...
Just finishing breakfast and sitting down with some 'fizzy' coffee (diet mountain dew)
Ruth wtg getting those taxes done. I use a program too and I'm always nervous it will mess them up. But, I would mess them up more if I did them by hand, I think.
Cottage What's Boomers? Like Chucky Cheese?
amasam That murder mystery party sounds like a lot of fun. We used to do those all the time in hs drama club. I loved them!
me It's been a good few days off work. Yesterday, I went and had lunch with some old (two jobs ago) co-workers. Had such a blast! I also received a call yesterday and I have a temp job lined up for next week. I don't know many details (I'll get that call today) except that it's a long term assignment (I think that means at least 2 months) and it's at the bank I was just let go from! So, I'll be right back in the same building on Monday.
I've got a lot I want to take care of in the next three days. Peapod is coming soon with groceries. I love the week after Easter...because all the yummy easter food is on sale. I bought a 1/4 ham and some lamb for about 1/2 their regular price. I need to wash dishes, take out trash, sort laundry (probably won't do it until Saturday), cook for the week, finally get around to packing up the rest of XBF's stuff (he moved out in January and still have stuff here...uugghh!), and I really, really want to tackle my front closet. It's gotten to the point where I'm just throwing things in there because it's such a mess anyway. Not looking forward to that...Ruth do you think you could send Donna down here after she's finished with your place?
I'm going to try and make it out tonight to an open knit/crochet at this yarn store downtown. I don't crochet very well, and really don't have a particular project I'm working on...but I thought it would be nice to get out and converse with people. My cats are nice...but can't carry a conversation.
This week was going well until yesterday when bossman announced that he would be out of town until Wednesday and that I shall be in charge of meeting the state's deadlines for everything. I have a good idea of what needs to be done, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to pull it off. I plan on working through lunch and late tonight. I also plan on working tomorrow and Sunday afternoon and then late on Monday and Tuesday to get it all done. Yikes!
I'm going to try and enjoy a little me time, Ruth, but I may have to wait and fit it in next weekend. Enjoy your tea and gardening mag...I'm so envious right now!
Cottage: Yay! Congrats on closing! I hope your dinner was enjoyable! Have a great day with the girls...what is Boomers?
amasam: Your party sounds fabulous. I wish DH would get on board for something like that. Good luck with the final preparations and have a great day!
amberj: WTG for DH! (Isn't it annoying though, how quickly they lose weight?) Your dinner last night sounds wonderful. I love fajitas over salad!
Slimming: Have fun shopping for SB foods. It's sometimes such a challenge. Good luck!
Well, I guess I'll call this my "me" time for the day since I really should be working. Talk to all of you this weekend...hopefully!!
Well the First Annual Senior Night at Mountain State University was a success! I was so relieved to have it done. Actually it flew by and we had a ball. I was on the radio about 6 times and by the time it was over I was a pro. I got home at about 9:15 and then ended up meeting my Mom, 13 yr. old brother and his girlfriend and going to see Blades of Glory...which was so stupid, but funny.
I am off work today, so that is awesome. I am sitting here on the couch with my laptop enjoying the morning/afternoon
Everyone one sounds like they are gearing up for Friday...so enjoy
Peapod...I so wish we had something like that here in WV. I did finally get a housekeeper this week...she will come every other week and let me just say that week one has been wonderful. She did such a good job! It will be nice not having to spend my weekend cleaning.
Good day everyone, Not sure what to call the time when it's 12. Is it suppose to be good noon?
Ruth- congrats on the tax refund, they can be so illusive. The me time idea is wonderful. Unfortunately, I'd have to get my DH to agree .
Cottage- Have a great time with the girls.
Amasam- I'm so jealous. The only parties my husband wants to host is MMA ones.
AmberJ- I had fajitas for dinner last night too. They are so good.
Slimmingdown- I hope your shopping trip goes well. Remember to read the back of the can. I find that hunts adds no sugar to their tomato sauces and whole tomatoes. I believe that pace makes salsa or picante with no added sugar.
Sunnybunny- congrats on your successful night. It seemed that you were a little stressed in your past posts. I'm glad it went well.
Kimstar- This, unfortunately, probably the my only me time, as well, since my 2yr old is finally taking her nap.
As for me I'm sick with a cold and feeling miserable.
Take Care Everyone, have a nice Friday!!
Did you miss me? didn't work today and my pc is on the fritz so I dashed over to my mil's so she could visit w/ the baby and I could chat w/ you ladies.
Of course she's not here but that's ok too. My hubby and I work for my parents and have been laid off since Oct. last week was my first week back to work and I'm only there 2-3 days-so needless to say it's been a long time since we had cable so Lily is wrapped up in blues clues right now.
Sounds like you all are busy. I left my house in utter disarray. I vowed to get it straightened out tomorrow. If I could just get a day to myself once in a while. of course I say that and my hubby says -YOU want more kids, like he doesn't which we know is a crock!! anyway. Tomorrow, I will vacuum ,mop, scrub, fold-and anything else that needs done, but today I'm taking a break!
Friday! hellllloooooo my little Chickadoodles! ...
Ruth: "Parlour"..haven't heard that word in a long time...We use to call the living room a parlour growing up... We also called underwear "bloomers" Have a Great ME time!
Cottage: You reminded me that I have to do color my hair... I have ta bannish these grey "highlights"
Amasam: I bet your party will be a blast!
Amberj: your DH is doin great
Slimmindown: here's some for your first walk on the beach!
Annarenee: Wow ! Finding a job so quick good for you!
Kim: I hope you have a good team you can delegate to. Dont burn yerself out
Sunnybunny: on your success!!!! I love Will Farrell... but I wait till the DVDs come out to see his stuff.
Me.... The windows are open.. A cool breeze is wafting through and The birds are chirpin! A good day in Schatziville!
Thanks for the and kind words. Unfortunately, I'm the only one authorized to do this work. Maybe next year they can take care of some of this, but not right now. Well, my lunch delivery just arrived, so I better get going.
Not a good lunch, either. Burgers from Sonic. Blech...
Shopping was a blast! I got lots of food that I normally wouldn't really ever get because I just stopped being a vegetarian (still only eat poultry) and I am not normally huge on dairy. Buying Ricotta cheese, etc. is something that I haven't done in years. Back when I was a much healthier person I used to really enjoy a chicken parmesan that I'd make. It's just chicken crusted with a little bit of grated parmesan cooked in ICBNB or something of the like, some marinara sauce with no sugar added and a slice of 2% provolone on top. It was so yummy and I got all of the ingredients. I am actually looking forward to dinner tonight!
Tifanicole - I'll take a break with you! My family was in town last week and then I immediately went out of town for work. It looks like a tornado swept through here! Tomorrow I'll clean with you!
Jill, it's a date. But if I see your butt of here you'd better have a load of dishes in the dishwaher and laundry running!!! hahaha
Just saw the recipe for black bean brownies (which I had written off during weight watchers cause DUH I could eat the real thing!) and am eager to try to trick my hubby w/ them.
Wow Amberj! Congrats to your hubby on his loss! My hubby said he'll do it, but I have found that the FIRST time it interferes with what he is about to put in his mouth....NEVERMIND! He has a huge aversion to "healthy" "whole grain" "low fat" and veggies! (except fo the worst ones like corn, potatoes, and peas!) Any suggestions? Hi everybody else! TGIF! Question: is imitation crab ok? I ate some last night just kind of stir fried w/zuchini and onions it was delicious!
Thanks!
