Talking Yeah!!!

So I had a dental visit today (12:30pm).. I was not hungry before I left, so I didn't eat a thing (mistake here!).. the dentist was VERY behind and I was in the office almost 3 hours!

By the time I got out I was so hungry I was light headed. I didn't pack a snack (another mistake! I know better) and it's a 30 min drive home.. Fast food places are EVERYwhere and I want to just eat anything! I was just starving!!!.. so then I thought well I can just have a salad-all the fast food places have salads, right?.. but I am a seasoned dieter and KNEW I would not make good choices when I am starving.. so I turned the stereo on VERY loud.. screamed at the top of my lungs "I'm not doing this" and hit the freeway!

I couldn't believe how hard it was! It almost made me cry realizing I did this to myself and it was totally poor planning. I made it home, grabbed a banana and ate it in seconds ( ) and instantly felt better.. 20 minutes later now and I am "normal" hungry and I am going to have my little panini healthy choice for lunch.. (I like these)..

Wow.. what a learning experience.. NOW I need ideas of food I can keep in my purse for problems like this.. I could have even had a low carb snack bar in my purse..

WTG! You have great willpower! If that had happened to me, I would have hit up the Taco Bell, which is right near my dentist, and ordered 5 things LOL
That must make you feel good to know you are making great choices. WTG!

Great job!

I have some hypoglycemia, so I make sure that there are always snacks around and I also know exactly what I should get at a 7-11 or whatever. (I can usually, but not always, resist the 99% of 7-11's products that are total junk.)

Lately, my emergency food as well as my every day snack is Mr. Nature brand trail mix. I buy them in bulk on ebay, keep a bunch in my desk at work, a couple in my glove compartment, one or two in my backpack, and a gazillion at home. So it sounds a little crazy, but I'm never without a healthy, filling snack.

It'd be much cheaper to make my own, but I'm lazy and these are already pre-mixed and -portioned.

Other possibilities for me are protein bars, which aren't filling enough, whole wheat matzo and cheese, eggs if I have the time, etc.

It was a good choice not to get a fast food salad! I don't know about the other brands...but McDonalds spritzes sugar water on their leaves to make the salads tastier...

Yay for you! I should have done that today... Jman1, I do the same thing most of the time. I love these fruit and nut trail mix bars I have. Nothing better than having a single serving yummy snack when you're peckish.

Wow. Great job.

I almost always have food in my purse, on my person and/or in the car. Some favorite snacks:
- a snack baggie of nuts or dried fruit.
- kashi granola bars or other emergency "bars"
- baby carrots (last a long while outside the fridge!)
- apple, banana, other portable fruit.

Great snack suggestions!!
I love the idea of baby carrots not having to be in the fridge and being ok..
I think I will keep a stash of nuts and a stash of LC bars..
Jman..
I love trail mix... actually TOO much.. it is one of my trigger foods.. I used to make homemade.. with dried cherries and pecans and steel cut oats.. but I would eat the entire batch in two days..

HarPoe!!!
I can NOT.. no I take it back.. I totally can believe that.. I used to think their Calif. Cob grilled salad was the bomb.. but somehow sweet... now I know why!
