Default hi im new and wondered if you can help

hi, well i havent been diagnosed with diabetes or anything, but i need to ask a few questions and thought here would be ok as its to do with blood sugar levels and dieting!
im 23 and for as long as i can remember i have always had problems if i dont eat at certain times and have snacks between my meals, i get dizzy, get headaches, get shaky, feel really ill to put it shorter, and then not long after i have somethig to eat i feel ok again
well i have had tests for diabetes but these came back normal, but would normal blood tests be able to tell if you just have low blood sugar levels or would you need a different sort of test?
my nan and grandad both had late onset diabetes but no one in my family has had it at my age
im asking this as i am now trying to lose weight and finding it really hard as i have to keep eating, sugary foods are best as in they make me feel better quicker, i really need to lose weight but i need to know if i can have other tests to test for low blood sugar so if it comes back thats whats wrong i can try and adapt a diet so im eating every few hours but healthily
i hope someone can help with this matter and let me know if there are other tests to do(obviously im not asking to be diagnosed by any of you) i just want to know if it is worth me going back to the doctors again

Wow . . . I just don't know what to tell you . . .

I was diagnosed with type II about 16 years ago and I definitely get a lot of hypoglycemic events related to my diabetes medications -- I take glyburide, metformin, actos and insulin to control the diabetes -- and if I don't eat enough or at regular intervals, I will go low and suffer from the same symptoms you are describing.

If your A1C and Fasting BGL tests came back normal, I'd suggest that your doctor do a glucose tolerance test if it was not done already. After that, there is a test that can be done to measure your actual insulin levels (I've never had one of those myself). To me, it sounds like you have a definite hypoglycemic pattern that is not related to diabetes. Afraid I don't know much about that problem.

Definitely suggest that you discuss it with your doctor . . . there must be other tests that can be done . . . and at least in the UK you have universal medical care like we have in Canada so you wouldn't be facing exorbitant costs to get some more testing done.

Good Luck.
