I agree with you!! I am a nurse and I've studied all the different ways of losing weight and I definately do good when I follow them, however after I lost like 10lbs I give up and just start eating craapy again. Why am I afraid to lose weight? I know I can do it if I follow through but I don't. What's the deal?! It's so freakin frustrating.

Hi Stacey!

Welcome!

I think getting started at ANY big project is intimidating, but weight loss is such a personal project that there are MANY, MANY things involved with actually DOING IT!

Until about a year ago I never realized how much eating was connected to EMOTIONS and FEELINGS, and my PAST EXPERIENCES with food! Losing weight is a lot more about getting your head in the right place TO begin to lose weight than anything else, in my opinion!

Like any big job, just looking at all that lies ahead can sure be overwhelming! That's where this website and all the FANTASTIC people come in! When you read all about us and discover that we are on OUR journey like you are on YOUR journey...well, it just makes the travel a whole lot more do-able!

There are people here who have lost 100, 200, 300 pounds! Check out the mini-goals and goals sections to see their progress. It IS do-able, yet it doesn't happen overnight, just like gaining weight didn't happen overnight.

Books I've read on weight loss say that willpower isn't it. They say that you need a PLAN and STRATEGIES in order to lose weight. Here you will find both!

I wish you much success on your new journey! Grab an arm and come along!

Cheryl

Stacey, I totally understand. Losing weight is certianly not easy, nor is deciding that you need to make a change and taking that first step. But I think that as a young person (and I'm only 21, so I know) it's really important to make those changes now-- if you keep putting it off, it will just grow into a bigger and bigger problem and will seem even more impossible. Good luck finding what works for you!
