Default Newbie here with a problem!

Hey everyone!! I'm a newbie here, and just loved the site and especially this group cause I fit right in! I am big time a binge eater and yo-yo dieter. The past summer I hit 129 lbs on the scale after losing 20 lbs and was super excited. Unfortunately I lost it by binging. Sounds crazy, but I would have one binge first thing in the morning and eat nothing the rest of the day and exercise my but off. It worked really well, until I started eating again when I started trying to have three meals a day it just didn't work and I gained almost all the weight back. I've started to lose again, but I find myself falling into the same pattern to try to lose weight. Has anyone binged to lose weight? Am I the only crazy one out here?????

Hello, and welcome!

Nope, I can honestly say that bingeing only ever made me GAIN weight. Over and over again. In between I could take a few pounds off here and there, so weight never got terribly out of control, but that was only when I was able to stop or minimize the bingeing. Then again, I would binge in addition to eating 3 squares, rather than bingeing/restricting, as you were doing.

Sounds like you don't need to be told that bingeing to lose weight is not a good idea. Good luck with getting things under control. This is a great place to come for support and encouragement.

The sad but true fact is that you are teaching your body to hold onto every calorie. You are training it to be a "famine body" which means that even little bits of food will make you gain weight. It is really important to keep your metabolism working by giving it little bits of food throughout the day.

I know it seems crazy, but it is true. Eating less makes you fat. Especially after binging.

Sounds like binging my not be your only issue. Saying that you exercise your butt off seems to indicate to me that you might be an exercise bulimic, which is to say that instead of purging by throwing up you might be trying to compensate for the binge by purging your body of the calories through intense exercise. Just a thought.
And WELCOME!
