My hubby has just bought us a chimenea, has anyone got one? this one has a grill you can cook on which pulls out, just wondered if anyone has successfully cooked anything on one and if so, what? I am excited gonna burn some wood in it tonight! twisted fire starter song going round in my head now lol
Yes, I've got one. We tried cooking in it - not very successfully because of having to bend down so far (highly amusing watching DH wobbling around trying to cook stuff on it when he had a few glasses of wine inside him ) - so now we use it more as an outside heater/ornament and have gone back to cooking on a normal BBQ.
We only used once for cooking but we waited until we got glowing embers before cooking - much like cooking on a BBQ - only because we didn't want the food to get charred on the outside before it cooked properly.
Try throwing some dried herbs on the embers - it gives the food lovely flavours.
