Default Not too lost to be saved- I hope.

Hi everyone! I stumbled on this site today and after looking around, decided that this might be the missing piece to my weight loss puzzle.

My name is Christine and I am a 20 year old college student.

I've struggled with my weight since around middle school. Around 9th grade I became concerned about my weight and started dieting and went from 220 lbs to 195 lbs, which is a healthy weight for me (I'm 6'3" tall). Maintaining my new weight was a struggle, but I managed to yo yo around 195 lbs. for about a year or so. Then I decided to go even further with my weight loss and started a crash diet that sent me to 180 lbs in a relatively short amount of time. Like most crash diets, the results were not permanent, and I was back to 195 as soon as I went back to my old eating habits. I remained this weight until my senior year of high school, where I slowly but surely inched my way back up to 220 lbs. Basically I was back at square one.

I thought I could turn myself around- boy was I wrong. College began and the weight piled on. After 3 semesters I topped the scales at 260 lbs. I have never felt more ashamed of my body in my life. I started eating healthier and exercising but my old ways soon caught up with me. Fortunately, some of my earlier efforts have stayed with me and I now weight 248 lbs.

So here I am. 248 lbs and desperately needing change. I want to be lean and healthy. I want to be able to buy cute outfits. I want to be the girl guys look at in clubs and at the beach. I want to be healthy.

So many times I have tried and failed, but this time I am very motivated to suceed. Joining this website will hopefully be able to give me the support I need when my motivation and willpower fails me.

My goal is to be 175 lbs, a 75 lb. weight loss goal. I know it's not going to happen overnight and I'm willing to take the time it takes to achieve my goals.

Wish me luck and I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

hi Christine! I was in college not too long ago so I definitely know where you're coming from... it's a very different kind of challenge! It was so brave of you to put up those before pictures... we'll be seeing the afters in no time, I'm sure. You're so lucky to be so tall! Anyway, jump right into the forum, under the "support" group there's a thread especially for college students, you should check it out.

Hi Christine!

Welcome!

From your post I notice that you mention diet but not exercise. My son is
6'4" and dropped 75 pounds by adding running to his daily routine. From your pictures I notice that you are quite slender from your waist up. Walking can trim a bottom half very well, too. My thunder thighs and big butt really melted away once I began walking! I never thought it would ever happen!

College is stressful, and long hours of study can put you in a chair for hours. Try getting out for awhile each day to walk and de-stress. I'll bet you the weight flies off quickly!

Best of luck to you!

Do well with your studies!

Cheryl
