Default Hello -- anyone losing weight as a couple?

Hi! I lost over 60 pounds three years ago, and kept it off very well. My husband just turned forty this year, and now is worrying about his health! So we're doing South Beach Phase I (which worked for me) for two weeks as we approach Easter. John's goal is to lose 15 before July 2007, and I could dip down 10 more pounds without it being a worry.

In the past few years, we've come to really enjoy wine, and it's going to be hard to pass on that one delicious glassfull for these next two weeks -- but I'm confident that it will pay off.

I've joined 3FC for the recipes and to learn how you women are keeping your menfolk from dipping into the ice cream when you're not looking.

Yours, Chris Ann

My husband and I are, and in our four year marriage, this is the first time he's jumped on board whole heartedly. We're both counting carbs (My WOA is most similar to WW Core and later stage South Beach, he is going lower carb more like South Beach induction or Atkins later phases). We're both morbidly obese, and have health problems aggravated by out weights. He's never really dieted in his life (except a couple half-hearted Weight Watcher's attempts with me) while I've been dieting most of my life (at least since the age of 5).

We are!

I was morbidly obese and my husband nearly so. He was very resistant of starting, and I used that as an excuse for a long time. Finally, in July of 05, I tried "again" to lose weight. My husband didn't want to be involved, and I told him he didn't need to. I didn't want him to, unless HE wanted to.

Those first few months were tough, but after a while, he saw that I was not only successful, but really enjoyed what I was eating. We are counting calories and trying to eat more "healthy" foods. We joined a gym, got a trainer and now exercise regularly. I've lost 120 pounds and he lost nearly 70. He's gained some back recently, as he has a new job and travels nearly every week , but he's working on getting back on track.

WELCOME!
