Thumbs up Newbie From NZ- So you've been told you're big boned...

:: Deep Breath::.......

Hi All,

I finally decided to introduce myself.

I'm Rachel, 31 and am hoping to lose just over 100lbs / 50kg

i'm in that group of people who get told " Oh, dont worry, you have big bones, dear". Except I decided to call them on it.
At my heaviest 258lb / 117kg I had my measurements taken. My wrist was 6 inches. That puts me in the small bones category..Hence my decision to lose weight for good.
Well, that and I want to fit into jeans for Winter !!!

Soooo... 12 days ago I started properly.
Exercising every day and simply keeping my calories under what I need to maintain my weight.
All going well so far but I'm a comfort eater (Big shock ) I just need to stay strong and hope this is the forum to keep my mind off the eating !!!

Bye for now,

Rachel.

Hey there, kiwi!

Yeah, I know what you mean, I'm small boned and always have been, and that "big boned" stuff just never worked.

Are you using a calorie tracker? That's been helpful for me. I count calories in and calories out. Do you do any activities like walking, other exercise?

Browse around the forums--lots going on here.

Cheers,
Jay

Hi Rachel, greetings from another Rachel (glad to see you spell it the "correct" way )

Anyway, welcome to 3FC. I started at a higher weight than you, so I know your goal can be achieved if you keep yourself focused. My basic approach has been the same as yours - watch what I eat, and exercise regularly. Turns out it's a pretty simple formula after all. As Jay suggests, tracking calories is very helpful in making sure you keep things on track.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi there, another Kiwi from Auckland. Welcome to the boards. My name is Mary, I am doing weight watchers at home, with the help of different sites I have found. They are right, counting and tracking your food intake really helps you know what you are eating. I find I have better days if I write it down. 258 down to 244, you are doing great, Well Done
