Arrow Do any of you guys do "Whey Protein Shakes" or Meal Replacements?

Is this a good kick start? I am getting back on WW and its been a long time. The last time I did Weight Loss, I started out with LA weight Loss then after a week I switched the WW. I lost 10 pounds that week, but was soooooo hungry. But I did the kick start part. I don't think WW has that but I thought about doing Protein Shakes to help. Any suggestions?

My personal opinion on shakes or meal replacments is that I can get so much more food and be so much more satisfied on the calories/fat/fiber with real food than shakes or replacement bars.

on an average those are about 200-250 calories and for that I can get a lot of food.

I sometimes make smoothies with whey protein instead of using the WW smoothie--less calories and more protein. The vanilla that I use has 104 calories and the chocolate has 88 for the same amount of powder as a WW smoothie, which is 110 calories.

I drink the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shakes for a quick breakfast when I'm at work (usually do not have time for a morning break). These are 100 cal/3gm fat/2gm fiber/4 carbs/15gm protein. I think they equal 1.85 pt each, if I did my math correct.

Not very nutritious. That would be a snack, not a meal.

Susan, you are right. My problem is that when I am at work (only two days a week) we are not allowed to eat or drink at the nurses station. I usually do not have time to take a morning break and often found myself not eating anything until 3-4 PM. If I can have a quick shake and maybe an apple or granola bar on the fly it is better than nothing.
I would not encourage them as a meal replacement but I do feel they are better than the sugary SlimFast.

Actually, I use protein shakes all the time. I find it easy to grab some fast carbohydrates, but a quick lean protein is tougher to find. I'm training for a marathon right now and my body craves a higher protein ratio.

I'm a big fan of the Jay Robb protein powders - truly tasty, no fat and they mix very quickly. 1 scoop is 2 points worth of protein. You'll need to match it with some fruit to balance it. Sometimes I add a scoop to my oatmeal and viola - a nice mix of complex carbs and protein.

When my entire day falls apart and I can't leave my office I keep a supply of SlimFast low carb shakes. I buy the low carb, because I think the normal shakes have too much sugar for me. That's fairly well balanced for a meal replacement. It's a 4 point lunch that will keep me fueled and filled for about 3 or 4 hours.

I love home made smoothies/protein shakes and highly recommend them. They totally curb my appetite. I have one in the afternoon and it's amazing.

I use the recipes in the WW smoothie recipe section.

I always keep frozen strawberries and blueberries in the house. Throw in a banana and some non-fat milk. Some ice cubs. Once in a while a teaspoon of organic peanut butter and WALAAA!!! Delicious!!

I'm not much for the protein shakes, I thought I would like them but I don't really like the taste and end up hungrier for some reason. Give me real food!
