Default Breast lift surgery after losing weight

Hi all,
I have noticed that my left breast is starting to hang down a bit more than the right after I have lost 45 pounds. I have another 10 or so to lose and am scared that it will start to hang down even more. Has anyone ever had this happen?

If so, did you have breast lift surgery?

Thanks!

I did and had a lift. If you don't mind me asking.........how old are you? Because age could be a major factor here.

I am 32 years old.

I don't know, I have just noticed in the past month or so that my left breast seems to be a bit lower than my right breast -- and i Know it has never been that way before. So i'm thinking it must be the weight loss?

Also, having had babies can have had an effect. I am just scratching my head trying to think and to help you out because you have lost A LOT but I am surprised that you are having that much sagging at an early age without a 100+ loss........?

Hi Choir. Is it possible you have lost a tiny bit of weight from one breast and not the other? I have to have breast reconstruction surgery because of this. I have a noticeable difference, about a cup and a half of difference according to my surgeon. Gee, thanks doc, lol.

Yeah, it's really, really wierd. And the wierd thing is, this has only been noticed over the past like, month or so! I'm actually going to go get a mammogram just in case -- because I read that a sudden sign of breast asymmetry is a warning for breast cancer.

I measured it today -- half an inch is what it is. Wierd!

Also, regarding breast size, it's like I have lost quite a bit of fat only at the tops of my breasts. Will this fill in a bit or will my skin accomodate it over time?

Thanks!

PS. no i have never had children (and don't plan to)

if you are thinking implant, then your skin will accomodate it and the top will fill out.

do you mean, if I do NOT get implants, the top will fill out/skin will shrink over time?

Cause i would really rather not get them.

I have no idea. Are you looking to get a reduction??? But, I don't think that it will shrink.
You, really, really should see a surgeon for a consultation, they are usually free if you schedule your surgery with them within the following few months. If you are serious about this then just go for it.

No DEFINITELY do not want a reduction. I am 36 D or 36 DD and want to STAY a DD cup forever. I love them ;-)

This is why I am sad about the deflated look on top since losing weight.

I definetely agree that you should schedule an appointment with a surgeon. I recently (march 7) had a breast reduction and I was worried that I wasn't going to have good results and was sure of it because of the sagging and semi-deflated look, but then when I actually went and saw her she told me that she thought I would and so far so good. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that a surgeons going to know best, she'll know what kind of shape she'll be able to do for you a lot better than any of us, especially since we can't see exactly what it looks like. I do know that with a reduction and lift, the sagging and deflated look seems to have mostly gone away and the shape has come back, but I'm not sure what will happen if you just get a lift.

shrinkingchica - I was only 19 when I went to see my surgeon (20 when I had the surgery) and I had a decent amount of sagging (not horribly saggy, but pretty saggy), especially on the one side, and she said that it's not that uncommon with people who have gained and lost weight over and over again like I had, which might also be the case with choirgirlhotel. Then again maybe not, everybody's breasts are different and react differently to weight gain and weight loss.

Was your surgery using that reason covered by insurance?

Went to the doctor and asked about it. She said that after losing weight, sometimes the cysts in the breasts fill differently, and it looks like on my left they have filled out more on the bottom, and on the right more on the top. thanks life! ARGH!!!

so hopefully it doesn't "fill" out any more on the bottom.

Just to let you all know in case you are wondering about your own.....

Wow that is interesting! I asked my DH about getting plastic surgery when I get closer to goal and he is all for it but when I asked about a breast lift, he shut that down flat. I'm pretty perky right now (and my breasts seem to be growing!) but we'll see after I lose 60-70 more lbs.

Tristess, yes, my insurance has already authorized it based on that. The listed reason was "large and disproportionate as to cause balance and muscle issues". I am fortunate to have insurance that sees medical needs for what they are, the vast majority of the time.
