Wink Me, Adhd and I

Hello Everyone~

My name is Jenna (duh as if the title didnt give that away) lol. I am 24 y/o. I am married to one of the best men in the world for 10 years now and we have 3 kids ages 7-boy 3-boy 2-girl, I homeschool my oldest. I live in Orange County, CA (where Disneyland is, thats when you go ohhh lol, people usually don't know where that is until I say Disneyland).

I am going to be very honest, it is hard but I know I can do it. I have been recently diagnosed with severe Adult ADHD unfortunatly my symptoms went undiagnosed as a child. I am very happy that I now have a name for somthing I knew was very wrong with me. I have an appointment with my doctor to start medication. I have problems sleeping, horrible organization, keeping appoinments, remembering dates, I have always felt like there is a constant radio going off inside my head . My weight over the years has gotten out of control I am not blaming my ADHD but it certainly did not help.

Stress doesn't help either, my daughter was diagnosed from birth with significant heart disease, she has had 2 open heart surgeries and is scheduled for her third one at the end of april. My daughter, lack of sleep , adhd , put it all together, it aint a pretty picture

I am... (let me go weigh myself)................311lbs.. .. I used to weigh 323lbs, I have lost 12lbs and miraculously (did I spell that right?) kept it off...... So now my PCP (primary care physician) and my psychiatrist are going to work on treating both my weight and my brain .

So now I can see a light at the end of a loooong dark tunnel. I just take everything one day at a time...

Onto something a bit more lighter! I looooooooove to bake , cookies , cakes, cheesecakes (that doesnt help my weight either!! ), I love dates with my husband, playing with my kids, watchin movies , hanging out with my friends, shopping!

Sorry I am too lazy to spell check this tonight, so forgive the spelling erors *opps* too tired to even hit the backspace LOL. Thank you for reading this, hope you forgive my rambling, it is 4:53am, I know, but remember what I said, I can't sleep lol.

Man these smilies are fun!
Take care
Jenna

OMG Jenna we must be twins yo.

I have adult Adhd and have known about it for 10 years now, I can TOTALLY relate to what you have been through and it does cause overweightness among many other problems- and benefits like creativity and spontenaeity! I am jealous that you live in the OC its pretty famous here in Sydney now (the OC, Orange County Choppers etc) so it seems ,like, wicked. I could detect the Add-ness in your post with all the side comments. Truth is that's whats happening in our brains- side comment upon side-observation times one gillion. Although I don't have any kids, I am married and the same weight as you roughly! Its not a dark tunnel if you have everyone here to share it with Plus I am so into baking and cooking its not even funny... As I write this it pains me to think how long its been since I have baked something scrummy.
BTW just a tip, don't take your meds under 3hrs before going to bed, you will be up all night. But they are pretty much supposed to assist in appetite supression so that's a plus! Good luck!

Welcome Jenna,

I'm 24 as well and I know how it feels to wonder what emotional problems might have contributed to my weight. But it seems like you are heading up not down. So I just wanted to wish you luck and I hope you stay active on the site.

Good Luck

Talking

Hi and thank you everyone for welcoming me here, I know that I have found the right place to get the support that I need from women who understand me and things I am going through!! I believe that this time I will be successful!!

Thanx Chimichanga for your input I really appreciate it! and maybe we could exchange recipes although I would consider taking a small piece of the dessert for yourself, cutting it up and giving the rest to a neighbor, becuz I don't like to make my recipes low fat I know I am bad so I make them regular and give most of it away! LOOOL

Thank you all so much I really appreciate everything!!

Jenna

Not a problem love, my pleasure. I hope you find coming here useful, even if you don't post you can "lurk" (ie read but not post) just to get tips. I have gotten into the habit of giving it all away cause i end up saving just a tad too much for me and hubs. YA! I would totally like to exchange recipes, I hate making things lowfat too cause they never turn out as nice. Although, I have an awesome low fat choco-pudding recipe that I will post in the recipes database soon... stay tuned!! OH and you should join us in the weekly chat #1097 if u want.
