Default I'm New! And Ready to Finally Get Into Shape!

Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I'm 16 (That makes me feel really young!) but I don't feel that there is a such thing as being 'too young' to be healthy. I'm not here to lose large amounts of weight, but rather just tone and tighten. My family is very athletic and we are having a large-scale reunion this summer, I'd like to be in the best shape possible by then!
I've lurked and read many of these posts, and have found that this community is so helpful and supportive that I couldn't resist joining! You ladies are such an inspiration to me.
I do try and work out every day, but with school and work pressures, I only manage to do it a few days a week. I'm hoping with all y'all keeping track of me, I'll be more motivated to make time for fitness. I enjoy pilates, yoga, and aerobic exercise, often times with the help of videos or the fitness instructor at my school.
So, basically, Hello everyone! I'm looking forward to meeting and supporting you all.

S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

hey kelema!

Looking at your height and weight, you don't need to lose any weight--you are already in the "normal" range for BMI (body-mass index). If you got to 115, you would be "underweight." So, I'd say that workouts are the best way for you to proceed so that you can build muscle. Try some weight training--but be sure to get instruction from an experienced, professional trainer on how to do that right. (For some reason, everybody's boyfriend thinks he's an expert. )

Good luck on becoming more fit and strong!

Jay

thank you! As I said, I'm not really interested in losing much weight. I have been doing some weight training, but I do have a question for you:
I have serious problems with my knees, do you have any leg-muscle exercises you would recommend that will be low-impact on my knees?

Princess, HW is the worst thing that could ever happen to managing weight and fitness. When HW is piled on (before AP exams or Midterms or Thesis papers are due) my normal schedule of healthy food, healthy body really falls apart. It's so hard to be concentrating on fitness when you're really trying to memorize formulas for butane and methane molecules! But I'm sure as students we can do it. We just might have to work harder than someone with a typical 9-5!
