Hello everyone. I stumbled across this website a few weeks and have finally decided to join. Please bear with me as I tell you a little about myself. I have not been formally diagnosed with PCOS. I am new to this area (Knoxville, TN) and have been having trouble finding a Dr. who understands and can look past my weight. I have had several tell me that I probably do have it, but can "fix" the problem by losing weight and going back on birth control.
In my late teens I was told that I could never have children due to endometriosis. Well, I now have a 10 year old son. His father and I are no longer together, but I got the best part of him. After I had my son I immediately dropped the 50 lbs of pregnancy weight I had gained. Then things changed. I didn't have a period for almost a year even though I wasn't breastfeeding. I started gaining weight that year sometimes up to 10 lbs a month. I was exercising and fairly active, but everything I ate just stayed with me. By the time my son was a year old I was up to 220 lbs. Needless to say, I kept gaining and have been between 250-260 for almost 10 years. In addition to the weight, I now have the ever so attractive full beard and mustache, fluctuations in my blood suger levels, oily skin, acne, skin tags and of course depression. It is such a lovely melting pot of attractive symptoms.
Well, I hope I haven't bored you to tears with my story. Thanks for listening.
