Red face New here, just looking around

Hi All, I just found out about this wonderful site recently while reading O Magazine and I love it already.
Here's a little about me. I am 35 and have been chubby all my life, but now I have hit the big mark and need to downsize. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. Well, recently I decided I just need to grab my weight problem by the throat and throttle it into submission.
I have support of my family and friends, but it is a small group so I decided I needed to "outsource" some of support. I have made a mini goal of losing 20 pounds by July 4. And need all the help I can get. And I can be a very supportive person as well, so don't hesitate to ask me for help as well.

I'm new here, too. I had to laugh because I read about this website in O, too. I'm not sure what I expect, but hoping a little help in this weight struggle.

Red face O Rocks!

I too read about this in O, and joined today. My story:
51 year old mother of 6, youngest is handicapped, went through a 2 and a half year divorce (expensive and stressful), just to find my X was diagnosed w/stage 4 prostate cancer. Not getting child support now, or his half of the medical expenses. Both of my parents are having medical issues. The stress translated into terrible cholesterol labs, and increased BP for me. Used to work as a firefighter/paramedic, and didn't have those issues, so that speaks to what I've been dealing with for way too long. I've gained 40 lbs since leaving the department, and want to get rid of 67. I really need someone to talk to, and be accountable to as well. Bob Green's book and Oprah's intro caught my attention, and made me want to do better by myself. Since the first of the year, I've been getting in 20 min. of exercise almost daily, and not eating after 7:30 at night. I have trouble doing regular meals My schedule is erratic, and I need to stop and slow down to plan and eat. By the way, I'm from northern Illinois.

Welcome to all the O magazine newbies, and ALL of the newbies out there reading!

Find a spot that feels comfy (we have a whole section for support on Oprah-endorsed plans, and lots of other areas) and settle in! Hope to hear more from you all soon!
