Post hello from the far north

Hi just thought i would take a moment to introduce myself. I live in Northern Canada (where we seem to only have 2months of summer It's cold and the comfort food is wonderful this time of year. But as of this New Year I decided I would work my buns off to lose 40pds by Christmas 2007. I am doing ok so far, but this last week have found that I am losing myself again. When I read about this website in a magazine I knew I must try something. I will try and get on here often. I find what I have read already to be very inspiring. Have a wonderful Day

Welcome, neighbor! Please do try to come often -- 3FC is a fantastic site and I find I miss it if I don't log on.

I genuinely hope you'll find the support and camaraderie you seek. What plan are you working?

from a fellow Canadian . . . although, compared to you, I guess I'm a Southerner.

Anyway, Chickie, you have definitely come to the right place for lots of support as you wander down the long, bumpy road to better health and fitness. Just have a look around and then jump in and start posting. I know you will receive a big, welcoming wherever you wander on 3FC.

Have a great moving and shaking evening . . . hope we'll be seeing a lot less of you a lot more often now that you've found us.

Thank you for welcoming me. This is the first time i have done something like this and hope it will help me keep my heart in it.
I am trying to cut down on portion size, as i tend not to eat badly just over do it. I hope to get some advice on diet plans and excersise routines that work. Do not want to do the gym thing if i can help it.
So thank you again and i look forward to checking in here daily.

Smile I'm a newbie too.

I am in the north woods of Minnesota. It is pretty cold here now. After meeting you gals, I have NO complaints. I too saw this sight mentioned in a magazine and decided to log on and see what was happening. A few years ago I joined a diet web site and met some of the most wonderful women. I have a feeling that this site will be the same.
I started my current weight loss effort last September. I was at my all time high of 192 pounds. I stand 5'8' and am only medium to small boned so I didn't carry it very well. I have been slender to skinny most of my life, but in recent years my eating habbits and ability to burn calories has really changed, lol.
Anyway, I am now 173 pounds. I have lost most of the weight before Christmas and have now pretty much stalled. I thought it would be good to get some moral support as my husband, and diet partner, has a weaker resolve than I do!

Welcome! I too understand your weather. Good luck with your losing plant. There are lots of good places here to find something that works for you - read in different areas, everyone's friendly!

Default A bit south, but still cold!

Hi!
I'm a bit to the south of you, but definitely understand the whole comfort food thing, although we actually get about three months of summer here. It's so hard to be active when it's so darn cold outside and all you want to do is bury your head under the covers and hide!
I'm with you, girl, along with quite a few others who live in cold places.

This week in West Michigan we've had record-breaking temps with wind chills below zero. Man, who can resist comfort food on days like these? Pass the salad?? No thanks! I want potato soup!!
