Default New here... I would love to join if you will let me!

Hi everybody.... I'm not sure if I am eligeable or not for this forum, but I'm at the point where I really think I need some help or advice from people who have been through this kind of thing before!
First off I want to say that I don't have that much weight to lose. I exercise regularly, I am a vegetarian, and I eat healthy *for the most part.*
However, I have a huge bingeing problem when it comes to sugar. I work in a bakery, and its gotten to the point where I have been bingeing every day. I eat very well all day, but it seems after about 6 at night, I just can't stop myself. I don't know what to do. I feel sick all of the time, and I am so ashamed of myself. It's like, if I eat anything sweet at all, no matter how small, I just lose all control. It's so frustrating, because I know if I could just cut back on the sugar, I would lose the 10 pounds that I've put on, and feel so much better. I have tried to "detox" from sugar/refined flour, and have made it about four days at a time before I have slipped, but in those four days I have felt worlds better (and lost about 4 pounds!)
If anyone could give me any kind of advice at all, I'd really appreciate it.

I don't have any advice to offer you (but I'm sure some "chicks" will chime in), just wanted to say welcome!

Thumbs up

Rose,

I still struggle with sugar, especially chocolate. However, I lost most of my weight while working at McDonald's, so I do have a few tips I can share with you

First, make sure you have access to a satisfying, tasty, healthy lunch every day. Then, make ALL treats at the bakery OFF limits and bring your own (healthy) treats to work. I used to think that I was addicted to McDonald's icecream, and I traded it for one or two fat-free fruit yogurts a day.

If you really like something at work, maybe treat yourself to that one item on your day off. The fact that you have to purchase it (I'm presuming it's only free on days that you work) and that others are aware of it will prevent it from becoming a binge.

You can do this! If you need any support or have any questions, msg me!

First off, of course you are welcome silly goose!

Secondly, I definitely have a problem with binging in the evenings. Make sure you eat enough during the day so you're not hungry when you go to work. I tend to have this problem. I try to be extra good during the day and it ends up backfiring on me at night.
If you binging is more because you crave the sugar I do have one tip that seems to work for me. Chew gum, especially really minty gum. You know how some things taste really gross right after you brush you teeth? It has that same effect. It puts the minty taste on your mouth so the sweets don't taste right any more. There are always a ton of sweets in the office I work at and this keeps me from grazing on them all day.

I have the same problem with food that I don't purchase myself. This holiday, I know that I put on weight from Christmas cookies because my cousin has gained weight after having a baby, and she's home baking. Not her fault, but I really wouldn't even have thought of buying or making the cookies. That didn't keep me from eating them, sometimes three a day, until they were gone.

Someone in my office is selling GirlScout cookies. The boxes are just on her desk. I feel "bad" not buying them. I just wouldn't even think about them or buy them at the store, if they weren't there. I would actually rather donate $3.50 to the Girl Scouts without having the cookies!!

Another woman in my office bought all pastries for a morning meeting, no Wheat Thins! Well, I refuse to eat them even when everyone else is, and then I actually feel "rude". I know that the sugar will make me crash within a couple hours, so it isn't just because I'm watching calories, but also I know how my body reacts to too much sugar.

I would love to know how to be socially appropriate in situations involving food and other people, especially hostesses. Those are my binge triggers.
