Default 30 Somethings Chat: Thursday February 1st

So, I thought that I'd start the thread today.

Nothing exciting to really talk about - finished my day at work, got some groceries with the DW for the week I'm away and then watched a little TV before heading to bed.

My biggest problem was an unsatisfiable craving to eat everything in the house last night. And, unfortunately, with my mood still being sour last night, I gave in to most of it. *sighs* New day, new month, try and maintain a new focus. I guess. Why is this so hard to do?

Anyway, going to a comedy show tonight. Should be a good time and will keep me occupied and out of the fridge.

Talk to you all later.

Hi! I am doing fine with my diet, living way more healthier than ever I´d say I haven´t been to the gym this morning but did Yoga instead at home. I love to do yoga but it´s always a bit difficult to get yourself to do it actually at home. At least for me! I am cooking fish with spinach, onions and cheese right now and we´ll have rice with it and as dessert I made fruit-salad and I´ll add some yogurt then. I feel very good with all these vegetables and fruits and I think I have no cravings because of this.
I am off to the library later to find some books for this literature project I help the girl with and it will be a nice and lazy afternoon.
And I am very proud because my little boy (9) will go on tour with the Lord-of-the-Rings-Symphony in April! He is member of a boy´s choir and he´ll be one of the boys that may join!!!!!!! You cannot believe how happy he was (and is!).
I hope you´re going ok with your diet, too, ladies. Have success!

Warning: I am about to have a meltdown!

I am hating myself right now. I had wi last night and was up more than 1 lb! I am so pi$$ed! I have been walking with my mom almost every day for 2 weeks! I haven't been journalling but I have been keeping track in my head. I've not been perfect but by no means should have had a gain that big! I actually cried all the way home from my ww meeting for the first time ever! I have had gains before but it's not affected me like this! I think maybe I'm just destined to be fat! Nothing works for me. I am going to actually journal this week and keep things going and if I have a gain next week I'm done! I am very depressed about this gain!

Sorry to be a downer. I needed to vent though. Thanks for "listening."

Oh Molly... DON'T YOU GIVE UP!!!!!!!!

Honey, we all have bad weeks, and as you said, you have been walking a lot. Believe it or not, your legs and butt could be getting stronger and putting on some muscle.

How are your clothes fitting?
Have you been getting in enough water with all of your walking?
You don't want to dehydrate.

This article from Prevention, may help a little to boost your mood:

Q: I work long hours and sometimes get so busy that I totally forget to eat lunch. I make it to the gym several times a week and really feel like I don't eat very much, so why am I having such a hard time losing weight?

A: Part of your problem may be your metabolism! Metabolism is the rate at which your body burns calories to sustain life. Your body needs energy all day whether you are sleeping, sitting or exercising. By skipping meals, your metabolic thermostat shuts down to conserve energy while waiting for appropriate fuel. This is why skipping meals can actually hurt your weight loss efforts rather than help.

I strongly advocate the idea of mini-meals especially when you are so busy at work that you can't take time to go to lunch. Bring healthy snacks to work—almonds, apples, string cheese, yogurt just to name a few! Mini-meals help you succeed on both mental and physical levels. Psychologically, mini-meals can help reduce cravings or poor food choices out of sheer hunger! Physically, eating small amounts every two to four hours helps to keep your blood sugar on an even keel and may even help your metabolism to keep burning at a higher rate.

You say you work out regularly but are you doing any strength training? Muscle is the other secret to keeping your metabolism revved! Muscle eats more calories at a resting heart rate than body fat so the more muscle on your body, the more calories you burn daily whether you workout or not. Starting at around the age of 35, women start to lose 1/2-1 pound of muscle a year unless you are actively doing something to keep it up.

We're here for you Mol, please don't give up.
Wipe away those tears... it's a new month

~Becky.

Molly, sweetie, you've read enough of my postings to know that I have days exactly like you. I think I'm doing everything right, I'm staying on program, watching what I'm eating and exercising a little bit.

But what happens? I end up with a gain.

It's frustrating, I know. But stick with it, hon. Take strength in knowing that we're all in the same boat and that "ups" and "downs" will happen. Both in mood and weight.

Be proud of your accomplishments - your starting weight is where I started and you're WAY ahead of me. So there's something to be happy and proud about.

Another to get you through your tough day. We're all here for you.

Default Doing Okay!

Hey Everyone,

I'm fairly new here too, and thought I would say Hi! Lately I seem to just dig around in my cupboards, freezer or fridge to find any food to satisfy me. Of course I eat junk food to satisfy my cravings. I have little self control that's for sure!! Well, it's the start of another month so hopefully I can get my eating under control. It's been a fairly good day. I think my key is eating a good breakfast. My husband is on chemo too and his mouth feels crappy, so he eats to get rid of the bad taste in his mouth and so therefore I eat right along with him. I just need to make better choices. I think I eat when I'm feeling blue too, so the whole cancer thing hasn't helped that any. He has one more treatment to go next week Tuesday!! We are so thankful he's almost done with treatments.

Well, catcha later

Sandra

RZX - don't kick yourself for it...just move on and recoop. Hang in there...

Milagro...congrats on your son's accomplishments

bekins - hang in there... blow off some stress with exercise

mambear - hang in there...don't give up. I would however suggest you do start jounaling...i find i do much better with that. Also, give it time. you maybe putting on muscle...don't give up. Just think how much healthier you'll be in the long run.

707 - sorry to hear about your day..that's horrible

As for me...nothing overly exciting...went to work...got out early since i finished all my surgeries... and i was good...i forced myself as soon as i got home to do my new dvd...denise austin Boot camp. OMG...that kicked my butt...great dvd...but not recommend for those needing low impact. Lots of high impact and then also lots of weight training. but it was fun. Eating wise i've been on parr today so far. Still have dinner and the rest of the night...but i feel pretty motivated after my workout. Hope the rest of the day goes better for all.

Hello all,

Molly, hang in there. The weight didn't go on in a day or week ~ it's not going to come off that way either. Check your water and everything else that has been said. I promise it will be better, remember when you first started you were having tons of success now it is going to be slower. It will come though.

Sandra, I believe that a great breakfast will help start the day. They say it is the most important part of your day. I am sure that you will find support in this group, not only for the weight but for whatever you need.

Well I should tommorrow (at the earliest) if I am being called back in for the second interview at the radio station. The only thing I don't like about the job from what I understand is that is commission + draw. I prefer to have a salary or hourly job. I need to find out more, if I get the next interview.
