I see that the last three posts had, 14 views, 29 views and 244 views! That means that people ARE on this site, AND they ARE reading it. Why are you sitting quietly behind your computer? Come on out and join the board. We can't really get this board moving if no one posts.
C'mon... post! The more the merrier... we can all use each other in a positive way.
I stop by and visit, but don't have much to contribute right now.
Personally, I am struggling with where to put hominy and miso soup. Also, am wondering if I can continue Wave 1 for longer than 10 days. I must not be doing it right, because, while I've lost 6 lbs (3 prior to starting, 6 during Wave 1), I haven't been hungry once.
Not a lurker, but new to the community! I've been looking for a Sonoma Diet Forum, without joining the Sonoma Diet site. I'm finishing Wave 1 this week. I've lost about 6 pounds, so far. And, I really like this! Though, when I did South Beach Diet, I lost about 7-10 pounds in the first phase and then nothing when I moved on. So, I'm a little apprehensive about graduating to Wave 2.
I'm here. I practiced a whole-foods diet quite well over the summer, but then got off track in the fall and have been vacillating for about a month or so, slowly reincorporating good habits.
Mirandall, I did the sonoma diet once before and got thrown completely off track when Wave 2 came along. I just fell off the wagon and never got back on. So hopefully we can motivate each other to keep it going!
I'm Heather, I'm married and have four daughters, ages 7, 5, and 2 year old twins. I live in Colorado. I've been overweight pretty much since I got married and thought I had to start cooking and baking all the time. Then having all those kids sure hasn't helped! I did Sonoma last year for a while and did okay, but then life happened and I gained it all back. I've been doing well this time though, I think I really will do it! My husband is dieting with me, although he doesn't really care what type of diet we're on as long as I tell him what he can eat.
I'd like to get down to 130 or less, but don't have a definite goal date in mind. Summer would be nice! I have a mini-goal though -- we're going to Las Vegas on March 9. I lost about 12 pounds the first month, so if I can do that again, I should be down around 156 by then (from 178 on January 2). So that's my immediate goal.
I must admit that I'd don't follow the book strictly, but mostly just eat the right foods, and watch my portions. I do use some of the recipes, and bought the Sonoma cookbook too. What I have found to really help is keeping track of what I eat (entering everything on the computer). Now, I never thought I would do this, and couldn't imagine how it would help. But then I tried it and found I really do much better when I see what I've eaten and see how many calories, fat, etc. I've had in a day. For example, after breakfast and lunch, I can see where I'm at, and I know about how much more I can eat that day, and can plan appropriately. I use ***********.com. It's free, and it's a great site. Something I really like is the recipe calculator. You can enter everything in a recipe, put in how many servings, and it will tell you all the nutrition information per serving. I'll make something up, put it in, see how it calculates out, and then adjust the recipe if necessary. Then it's also easy to put into your daily food list.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I really enjoy this site, and I hope we do get more participation. I'll certainly try! Good luck to everyone!
Hey Heather.... if you want to post your menu here too we have a menu thread going... it's really nice to accountable to other people with what you're eating (as well as frightening!)
I'm Wendy from So. CA. I hooked up on this site during the summer, then slacked off. 2006 was the Year of the Kidney Stones, plus I hit an all-time high in weight, bp was getting ridiculous, and I knew I had to turn my life around. I started on my version of a diet Mediterranean meal plan (hadn't heard of Sonoma...I was doing a 1200 calorie a day version)....in mid November. Of course holidays set me back a bit, but here I am, ready to march straight on and DO IT.
Oh, I'm 55, so I have a few challenges that you younger folk don't.
