why is it when ppl are looking for advice or friendly help aka motivation.. its not returned? I have seen more than 3 different new people on this board.. there has been over 15 views on each post but not a single reply??? There is other posts with maybe one reply with over 100 views...
every one is in the same boat... just wondering whats going on with the boards here.
One, there are a LOT of new people coming on the boards right now, most likely because it is the new year and people are coming out of the woodwork - and I'm personally glad to have ALL of them here! But this means a LOT of introduction posts and not enough time to respond to them all. Generally, I try to respond if I see that no one has, but sometimes, I'll read a post and respond only if they say something that personally resonates with me...for example, if someone posts an intro talking about low-carbing, I most likely won't respond, not because I don't want them here or support them or anything like that, but because I don't have anything meaningful to add to the conversation. That said, I do try to send welcome posts back to anyone posting an intro who hasn't gotten a lot of responses, but there are a LOT of new people at the moment and no one person has enough time to respond to everyone.
15 views on a post is not a lot on a board with so many people on so many divergent paths. And I know for me, I read some of the introduction posts and move on if I don't have anything to contribute to that particular conversation, especially if I am pressed for time. I also sometimes read a post, realize I don't have time to respond to it, and go back later to say hello when I have more time.
Also, the last three threads on the introductions forum, other than this message you just wrote, were created after 12:00pm PST today. Thats less than 5 hours! Lots of people are in the USA and are finishing up work/getting dinner on the table at this hour...posting will pick up in a couple hours as people start spending more computer time, then die down again while people are sleeping.
That being said, I read your other intro thread, and welcome back!
We have many, many more lurkers than registered members on the site at any given time - it's probably 10 to 1. Lurkers read posts but don't/can't post replies so you'll see a lot of page views without many answers. I love it when lurkers decide to register and join in the discussions!
On the advice in the sticky titled "where do I post" or something to that effect, I advises new members to browse the forums for a few days to see where they might want to fit in.
Also, I've been on another site for the past six months, so I have to get use to the this one is designed. I'm learning how to navigate and discover all of the tools available here.
I understand what you are saying! I signed up on Jan 29, I have had 60 people view my posting and have had only one bother to even say hello and good luck to me.
I feel like I am back in high school and not in the right social circle! All I wanted was a little encouragement too, but I just got to the point where I don't even bother to check anymore!
Well, good luck to you and I hope you are able to get more of a response than I did.

Sorry no one rolled out the red carpet most of us are busy , not uncaring. How about you are you welcoming the newcomers?
I agree, on the introductions board I mostly lurk to see newcomers coming in, not because I don't care but because its simply too much to reply to everyone. I'll jump in if I see something relevant that I may have a voice on, but mostly I stick to the other couple of boards I post regularly on and really jump into the support when people filter there. When I first signed up and posted my first hello I only had a couple or responses too, then after navigating around for a week or so I found some boards/threads where I was comfortable and began posting regularly and everyone has been very helpful and supportive and welcoming... I probably wouldn't have made it this far if without the 100lb. club ladies!
So anyway I'm truly sorry if anyone felt ignored or neglected, for me it comes down to the fact that although I'm in and out of the boards daily it would take me all day to respond to everyone and if I did that I'd surely get fired for never getting any work done! I hope that you all find areas here that you fit into and are comfortable with and I hope to see you around on the boards posting so we can all get to know you better.
I thought the same thing, when I first came to the forum... I wondered why there were so many views, but not so many posts, but Meg's got a point. Think of all the unregistered users that read these things, and that will help explain some of the views without responses or comments to new intros. Some people, like me, lurk around a forum until they feel comfortable enough to join and post, and for some, that takes a lot of bravery!
I know, I was a lurker myself... until I decided to join up.
