Default When you treat your body right, it'll treat you right.

I wanted to share something I figured out recently.

The better you treat your body, the better it will treat you.

And I'm not just talking about what we put in our bodies, and how much exercise we get.
I've heard other's say it, very rarely will I take part in it myself. Until recently.
I have trouble shaving my legs because of how awkward my weight makes it. So I invested in a semi-cheap electric razor for my legs, and it turned out to be a good buy. I used it, it took me 10 minutes, and I felt great and sexy after! It was less awkward than trying to maneuver in the shower, and no cuts!
Then afterwards, I painted my toe nails, and gave myself an exfoliating scrub. Sure enough, I felt even better. Then I conditioned my hair, used the blow dryer, and then straightened. Again, 10 times better!

I've always felt poor about myself and somewhat frumpy. What an eye opener!

What have you other ladies used to increase your self esteem and self worth? Share!

I got a good bra. The ladies are up where they belong and I have some great cleavage. Makes me feel more sexy less frumpy.
I also am in love with sugar scrub, I always feel so much better after I scrape off the old icky skin and get to feel all slick and smooth and smell good.
You're so right, the more we put into ourselves the more time we spend on making our selves feel better, the more inclined we are going to be to stick to it.

some day i'll be able to comfortably paint my toenails. i can't wait.

Body scrub is the best! I use it at least once a week, and usually on those days I'll take a long shower and exfoliate head to toe, make sure everything is smooth and hairless where it needs to be, then once a week or so paint my fingernails and sometimes toenails and just sit and relax...no chores, no worries. I don't work so sitting around all day makes me feel so lazy and frumpy, and I won't start school until August. We all need to pamper ourselves, at least once a month. Feeling pampered is the feeling of being taken care of and loving ourselves, so nothing else matters. Sometimes I'll head to the store and pick up some fabric for a new clothing project for myself. I haven't done much of anything since I finished knitting a simple scarf a little over a month ago.
I've said it before but it can always be repeated...having something tailor made to fit just you is a wonderful feeling. I would suggest anyone that can pick up something from a store, a dress or a great pair of dress pants that's just a little bigger than you need, and head by your local tailor to have them altered to fit just right. It would be a great way to celebrate falling into a new lower size during the weightloss, and having something you spend a little extra on will motivate you to keep it off. It would also work for something you have for the size you are now that you just love but want to keep after you shrink. Now I'm just rambling, sorry it's early for me

I love both ideas!
I am a HUGE fan of exfoliation hahaha. I love how it makes my skin feel.
And I am pretty good with a sewing machine, haven't done any actual full clothing projects, but I would love to! I want to take my favorite pair of jeans that fit perfectly, but just recently conked out on me with holes in the thighs, and duplicate them 3 or 4 times hahaha.

Martiniforme-

It's so true! Pampering yourself can really make a difference in your self-esteem. So often we think things like "oh, it takes too much time, it's not goign to make a difference," etc. But it's so not true. You're worth it!

Hmmmmm. Well, I was always self conscious about being the "fat girl" in yoga class, but I've been going at least once a week since July. I love it, and the instructor is wonderful and no one has made me feel uncomfortable. I'd like to go more often now that things will be slowing down, post-holidays... it makes me feel good.

PS- I love your icon!

Hmmm, I've always wanted to get some of my clothes tailored. That would be amazing. The biggest thing that I do is I get my eyebrows waxed on a fairly regular basis. It makes a huge difference in my face, plus it is one of the few things I spend money on. I'm totally lazy about shaving my legs and exfoliating, though.

i get a manicure and pedicure every 2 weeks, a professional spa visit with full body hot stone massage monthly. once every 2 weeks i'll go to a hair salon just to have them wash my hair because getting your hair washed and scalp massaged it so nice!!

and every. single. morning. i have routines because i find it makes such a difference!

exfoliate skin then use toners.
whitening rinse for my teeth, brush, floss then mouth wash.
tweeze anything needed every morning and specifically take time out to check.
hot showers every morning and night with a shave every morning.
once a week its a hot bath with salt soaks.
full body scented lotions after every shower!!

im HUGE on pampering yourself, it just feels so good!

For me, regular excersize has been the best way to pamper myself, as weird as it sounds. When I was overweight (and not trying to do anything about it) I used 'traditional' pampering as a momentary lift--but then kept on feeling crappy because I was treating my body like trash by being sedentary and eating junk--not to mention I used to be a smoker.

Getting up, getting out, and moving gets my blood flowing, wakes up my muscles, and reminds me that this body is more than skin and hair and stubborn pounds--it's a fantastic, capable vehicle that can take me anywhere as long as I maintain it properly.

Thanks! I was thinking we really need to redefine the word fat after reading the gist of "To Be Fat Like Me" the tv movie. I just.. I hate how overweight girls are made to feel in school. I am older and wiser now, and I am able to bounce back from people's comments now, and most adults have the wise to bite their tongues. But as a teenager, and only being 160lbs (moderately overweight), kids can be so mean, and I'm surprised I even survived.

And it does take a long time, but after the first 15 minutes, you start to have fun! Hehehe.

And good for you with yoga! Go back more often if you like it! If others don't like, they can stuff it! This is a free country, and if they don't want to look, they can bloody well take their butts somewhere else

Hahaha. DF will tell you the same thing about me and shaving. L.A.Z.Y.

But go and do it! Nothing like having great fitting clothes for your self esteem!

This makes a lot of sense. I'm still at that point where I am dragging my butt to exercise, but still do it, but I don't always enjoy it. I can't wait until I'm in a position to use exercise as something other than a way to lose weight. I have stopped putting junk in my body, now to just quit smoking.. How'd you go about it?

I have "I'm sexy night" once a week.
I light candles, put em around the tub, and take a bubble bath in Bath & Body Works' Wickedly Hot Chocolate.
I exfoliate my whole body, put a face mask on, do my toenails, and take some me time to just relax.
it works.

That bath stuff would trigger me! hahahahaha. DF would walk in to me eating bath water! "Shaun, why doesn't it taste like chocolate? WHY???" Hehehe
