Good morning! How are the Beach Beauties this morning? Come on in and share your day.
I've not checked the temperature but the house is much colder this morning than it has been. I've not been using the woodstove in the back room, just the small electric heater, but it may be time to get back into the habit of stoking it up before bedtime. I know it's cold when the Girls are sleeping in the kitchen in the morning rather than on the couch out there!
The furnace lads are coming this morning for the annual inspection and cleaning so I need to make some muffins to offer with coffee. In this area, every job seems to turn into a bit of a social occasion and I love it. I also have dog food and chili to make plus a rum cake for Sunday so it'll be a "kitchen" day.
Morning Chicks, it is chilly here this morning. But there is school yipee. Walked the kids to the bus stop but it was super early this morning and we missed it. Thank goodness for good neighbours whose kids also missed the bus. Today is a day of organizing again. I think I will work on the junk closet upstairs. Only have one wee one at home today so when he is napping I can get it done.
Ruth- enjoy your furnance men. Have a great day.
We must dash and check out the rest of the threads before I finish the dishes.
Ruth I think that is neat that things like that turn in to social events. You would never find anything like that here in the Dallas area! People are quite self absorbed.
LC Sounds like a nice quiet day for you- esp with the kiddos back at school! How is DH hanging in??
Busy day here at school today, lots of kids to see. My meals are planned and I have my pedometer on! I have already logged almost 1,200 steps and it isn't even 8:00 yet!
Later gals.... need more coffee before I get this day started!
Kiko, thanks for the reminder. I just put on my pedometer. I can't do much walking but will kieep track of my steps. My darn knee is really screaming at me this morning but I'm ignoring the brat!
Little Chick, it's so annoying when the school bus is early! My neighbour Liz frequently has to borrow my car when her kids miss it.
I hope your mind, body, and spirt are feeling good today.
First of all, I want to say thanks to Kiko for the congrats yesterday! I really appreciate! You're doing great on your walking this morning. I doubt I've logged 500 steps yet.
Ruth: I agree with little chick, you should definitely enjoy the furnace men. After seeing your Girls in the pet thread, I can just imagine them snuggling up on the couch! So cute! Enjoy your kitchen day.
Littlechick: Glad the kiddos are back in school! Are you a person who dreads or loves cleaning out closets and such? I love it!! Hope the little one takes a loooong nap so you can get it all done.
ME: I'm feeling a little disenchanted with SB. I worked my rear off last week and the scale was still at 210 yesterday morning. I think that it's a good plan, but that I personally need more structure. Right now I'm thinking about doing WW online and just mixing some SB fundamentals in with it. While I love all of you gals, I just wish there was a support group in town that I could join up with. The nearest WW is 2 1/2 hours away and don't even ask me about Curves and the LAWL centers. I think it may be time to move on plan-wise, but I hope you will all let me stick around here! I'm going to surf around their website a few more days before deciding.
Hope you all have a great day, it's 26* and crisp/clear here!!
I've got a shopping list mostly made, though need to do more actual meal planning. I just remembered (like I haven't been planning it for months!) that in a week I'm going to Atlanta for a conference and to meet someone I've been online friends with for 10 years but have never met! so now may be the wrong time to totally start back on SB, but I'm at least going to go for more sensible eating for the next week, and reread phase 1 of the book, looked through some of the menus.
I've got a vegetarian 12 year old son, a very picky 9 year old, and a husband who doesn't like change, especially with regard to meals. sigh.
I wish I could stay on longer to comment on all you girl's posts.
We have to do our reading now then get ready for our first day at the senior center and EXCERCISE machines. We go at nine sis so I will not be able to meet you today...let's try again for tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone...drink lots of water, excercise, eat for your health and stay grateful that 'we have enough'.
I've finally gotten off the phone with tech-support, but they finally fixed the problem with my new laptop and wireless connection, so it was worth the time! This is the 3rd person I've talked to, but she knew her job well and was a huge help to me!
I had my Weigh & Measure at Curves this morning, and now I'm on the road to really watching what I eat from here on out, and making sure I get some exercise every day, too. I had really let myself backslide there for a while.
I have a crockpot full of the Fireside White Bean & Sausage Soup simmering for tonight's supper, and lunch will be a grilled chicken salad. The hardest part is trying to drink all that water, but I'm managing to choke it down.
Kim, I can sympathize with you, I worked my butt off last week, too, and initially lost almost 4 lbs., but since then the scale hasn't budged! I've tried everything else out there, in the past, and nothing seems to work as well as South Beach Diet for me. I'm going to continue to hang in there, and I just know sooner or later I'm going to see a big difference. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
Good Morning Girlies! It's kinda chilly down here this morning! After the warm weather we've been having it's kinda hard to get used to. I'm sitting here dreading going to work and eating my yogurt and drinking a cup of coffee. and hoping for some energy! any suggestions for finding energy on P1! My job totally wore me out yesterday! I was on my feet for only 6.5 hrs but didn't get to sit down once. My legs were aching so bad last night! I'm looking forward to next week when I can add a carb or two. I think that'll help a lot.
well... i need to get dressed for work now...so I'll check in on you chicks this afternoon..hope you all have great days!!
Mornink Late check in this morn..my connection is up down up down.. so annoying!
Ruth: time to stoke that fire and have those girls on yer lap warming up!
Kiko: Jeez you've been running around this morn already!
Kim: I think it all comes down to calories in and calories out. South Beach the focus is on eating wholesome foods... but too much of a good thing aint good lol... so it may come down to portion size which WW will def help you with!
Phins: unfortunately I guess as a side effect from all that sugar withdrawl SB makes you feel a bit wonky and tired..Hang in thar bubbalooooie!~
LC: Sounds like your gonna have one ship shape house to start the new year off!!
Mamajok: must fill us in on how the opening senior center and exercise equipment went.
Cottage: yum!!!! I love a hardy soup in the winter!
Rebel: Sounds like a fun adventure! Try to adopt the SB principles... ya know what they say-- there always is a reason not to start- no time is a good time etc..
Darby and Casey are being extremely clingy and I know they want to go for their walk..so I'll get in a mile or 2 before I gotta hit the books!
Welcome to BluePapillion!!! Always room on the Beach doll!!! (We close the daily threads -- that may be why you didnt get a response on yesterdays....!)
Good Morning Ladies! It is freezing here in Chicago and there's a chance of rain / snow for the rest of the week.
Today is D2 of P1 and I feel icky. I am so tired and my head hurts. But I will survive. I'm sure I'll feel better tonight after I go to Curves. That always gives me lots of energy.
I had the greatest dinner last night. I had planned to make chicken satay and a huge salad (lettuce, red pepper, mushrooms)...but at the last minute I combined the two, using the peanut dipping sauce as the dressing. It was so yummy. I hight recommend trying it.
Ruth you are quite the today. Do you make the dog's food yourself?
As always I need to get back to work. I hope everyone has a great day!!
Not feeling well today (or for that matter last night). Took at least the morning off from work, debating the afternoon and an evening staff meeting - yuck, but I may need to! After this I am off to the shower and we'll see how that goes!
My question is: when you are ill (tummy very upset and a bit of a cold) do you stick with South Beach? I did last night, but this morning I want ginger ale (not diet), saltines, and Campbell's chicken noodle soup so badly. It is my sick, comfort food. While I have better options (fish thawing for dinner) and was planning a grocery run for veggies today, I am just not sure I'm up to it.
Hi everyone, I don't think I jumped in on the daily chat yesterday, though I jumped in on a few other threads. I'm on day 8 of P1, and it's my first time doing SB. I was starving this morning after an early dinner yesterday along with a night out that included one glass of white wine - oops - but a lot of Clive Owen because I saw his new film. But I feel a lot better now, and am having one of those days at work that involves checking webpages compulsively, working not so much. I love the post-Christmas slump.
Good morning, chicks. Sorry to hear so many feeling icky and/or cold today. Hope the afternoon shapes up to be better!!
I'm doing okay today. Day 9 of Phase 1...decided to extend through a 3rd week since week 1 wasn't so great. My back feels a lot better, and I haven't taken any Advil. Still going to stay low-key for a few more days to avoid reaggrivating it this week.
I have a bunch of cooking planned for tonight and tomorrow. Aside from dinner (shrimp scampi and steamed asparagus for me; fish sticks, peas & carrots for the kids), I'm going to try a batch of jicama chips. Bought some different Mrs. Dash seasonings to try on them for variety. Also planning to make a breakfast cheesecake and put some red and kidney beans on to soak overnight so I can put them in the crockpot tomorrow morning. Then I'll make vegetarian chili tomorrow night (subbing MorningStar Farms crumbles for the ground turkey I ususally use).
I must say that I'm totally diggin' the SBD Quick & Easy cookbook (source of the scampi recipe). I'm in a phase where I really, really want to be in the kitchen, but don't have a lot of time between getting home from work and serving supper. Yay for quick cooking meals!
