Default 10 Healthy Prescriptions for 2007 (Dr. Oz)

This is in the latest issue of TV Guide (which for some reason I have gotten for free for the last 5 years!)

1. Think inches, not pounds (For optimum health, your waist size should be half your height)
2. Walk 30 minutes a day
3. Clean out the Fridge. Throw out any food that has any of these in the first five ingredients: saturated fat, trans fat, simple sugar, enriched bread or high-fructose corn syrup.
4. Shop smart. Restock your kitchen with 100% whole grain or wheat breaad (don't accept ploys like multigrain or seven-grain; it must say 100 percent)
5. Fiber up. Have breakfast with fiber to slow down the movement of food into your bloodstream.
6. Pick and stick. Since variety of choices can cause overeating, pick the meal you rush through moost (typically breakfast or lunch) and eat the same healthy option every day.
7. Embrace fat - slip in 70 calories of healthy fat 20 minutes before each meal. You will activate a hormone that informs your brain that you've eaten so you don't feel compelled to overeat during th meal. Try one handful of nuts to turn on the satiety signal.
8. Make "you-turns." When you make a nutritional mistake, think of the advice your GPS gives you when you miss a turn. "at the next available moment, make an authorized U-turn." Then get back on the right road.
9. Equip yourself. Get a good pair of light-weight running shoes that are well cushioned.
10. Share this list. Living life as part of a community releases oxytocin, the hormone that make syou feel warm and fuzzy and turns off your hunger. What a way to make friends!

Joni - this is a great reminder! (I've got to get my book back out!) I think #3 is supposed to read... enriched flour instead of enriched bread but I could be wrong - (That should come as NO surprise to any of you!)
By the way, I think your new avatar is FABULOUS!!!!! You're as pretty as I imagined and the picture is awesome!
Hugs,

Thanks for the photo compliments. I don't take too many pics of myself that I like; this one was surprisingly pleasant.

The article does say "enriched bread" but I bet he meant to say flour and someone goofed at their end.
