Hello Everyone

Happy New Year!!!

My name is Mandy I am 26 years old from Northeast Ohio. I have been overweight all my life. In the last year I have gained 50 lbs. I used to embrace my size. Now I am miserable. I have made a vow to myself to live a healthier lifestyle!! I am glad this forum is here.!!!

Hi Mandy! Welcome to this wonderful forum...this is just the place to find the encouragement and inspiration you need. Look around and read about some of the users here and how they have changed their lifestyle...it's truly awe-inspiring! I have decided to change my lifestyle as well. Today I started my first day of NutriSystem and so far,so good (but it's only 11am!) and I'm looking forward to someday reach ONEDERLAND! I can relate to you...I had been overweight all my life, but in the past year or so I went from overweight to 'extremely obese' and I just can't live like that anymore. If I keep it up,I won't live for much longer at all! I've started blogging about my journey to lose weight, that way I can keep myself accountable somehow. It's good to keep track of what you eat and what exercise you do and all that. I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss and lifestyle change! Take care!

Miss Lady-- WELCOME!

There's a lot of support here and we're happy to have you join us. You'll see a bunch of numbered threads "300+ and ready to try...again" This is where most of the chatter around here takes place. It can be a little intimidating at first, as we keep about 400 conversations in the air at once, but really feel free to jump in. We don't bite, and we support each other through everything!

There are a few threads stickied to the top you might want to look at, including the "newbies" info, some great links for getting started, and a place for introducing yourself if you're interested. Check them out!!!!

Also, if you're interested in starting exercise, there's an exercise thread stickied at the top of the page. We try to set goals of MINUTES of exercise per month (the exercise is up to you -- lifting cans a million times per Catherine's suggestion would work!). Then we post our exercise and also track the group minutes. Last year we got close to 200,000 minutes of exercise and I hope we go over this year!!!

Hi Mandy! Welcome to 3FC. I spent some time trying to embrace my size as well. It worked for me for awhile, but I got the point I didn't have the energy for anything, I could barely make it up the stairs and I was in a lot of pain. The changes I have made in the last year, especially the exercise, have made such a difference. This is a great place to get the support you need to get healthy. Please come join us on the main thread!

WELCOME MANDY! We're neighbors! I live just around the corner in southern Summit County. Are you at all familiar with where Portage Lakes is? I live in that area on the south side of Akron.

I'm glad you found us. I've been here, off and on for over a year. It's a great bunch of folks. Just chime in where ever you like, and don't worry about keeping up with EVERYthing - there's no way many of us can. But the support, leadership, friendship and spirit here are unique. It's a one-of-a-kind place. WELCOME!

Hi Mandy!
I'm also a newbie and live in England. Welcome to the group and well done for committing to get healthier in 2007.

I've been seriously dieting for about nine months: At my heaviest, I couldn't walk more than a few yards without pain but was able to run with my daughter in a junior charity run in October (pics in my link below). I hated every minute but was delighted to have taken part! (Think I'll stick to cycling though! lol) I still have a way to go but you'll find you don't have to lose loads before you begin to feel the benefits.

It's great that we're all here to support each other: I'll do my best to translate any of your Americanisms and fit in as best I can! Looking forward to sharing in your journey.
