Default Shrinking Stomach

I've been serious about watching what I eat for the last two months. My stomach really seems to be shrinking. I had a burrito for dinner tonight that I didn't think was too big when I was weighing all the ingredients out but I'm stuffed. Too stuffed. I don't like that feeling anymore.

I've had meals with friends where they eat like half of their meal and proclaim, "I'm sooo full," and push the rest away. I never used to be able to understand that and remember thinking they were showing off or just had a lot of willpower to be able to push food away. But now I think I'm becoming like that.

The compulsive eater in me wants to protest, "Noooo not smaller portions, you love food too much!" I'm only 5'1", small boned and have been eating Fred Flinstone size portions for too long. It's time I guess.

Congratulations, that's a nice change! Do you think whole foods are more satisfying and that might also have something to do with it?

Thanks Suzanne. Whole foods are definitely more satisfying to me, especially beans and other high fiber grains.

Congratulations Charlene!

I find that when I start eating healthier, and in smaller portions, my stomach starts to shrink too. I will usually put up with a day or so of minute hunger pains and drink lots of water. After that I find I get uncomfortable eating larger portions. I'm such a foodie, it's hard to make my mind understand that I'm full and I need to stop eating. But I make sure to eat slowly, savoring every bite and chewing thoroghly. And I don't feel that there is ever anything wrong with getting a doggy bag!

The beans and brown rice are so filling! I try to have 3-4 days like that aweek with doing turkey chili beans as well. It is a great way to have lower cal healthy days and so filling!
