Weekly Core Chat Thread for Week of October 29-November 4, 2006

Here's our new weekly thread to chat on. Come on and join in lurkers and newbies. We could use the company!

Vickie 10-29-2006 07:20 AM

Good Morning Chicks! We are no longer on Daylight Savings Time. Cassie's tummy got us up at 6:00 anyway. We didn't go to bed until late so there are naps in our futures. I just have a couple of easy, well sort of easy, rooms to finish cleaning. Then I begin my special cleaning projects. I'm making Lemon Garlic Chicken and Oven Fries for dinner so that will be really easy too. Good thing since my muscles are really sore.

Poor Jim. He's a great help but some of it gets by him. I took my shower curtain in the guest bath down to wash it. I didn't take the rod down because it's impossible to get back up. So I stood there with my arms high up over my head (remember I'm about 5' 2") opening up the rings and removing the shower curtain. When it was clean, Jim went and rehung it....backwards. He didn't think the valance should go on the outside. He knew he was wrong when he saw the seams on the wrong side. His shoulder was killing him since the one that had surgery still isn't right. So I had to go take it down and rehang it. I have to tell you that I got lots of upper body exercise yesterday!

My dinner was excellent last night. I'm going to go modify the recipe in our recipe box. I didn't feel that I was eating diet food at all.

Melissa, I'm happy that your business is so successful. We do miss you though. Can you tell us how your plan is going?

Frouf, how are you? Can we help?

What's up with the rest of you?

Katpo 10-29-2006 10:53 AM

Going to lock the other thread now ...

Well -- I finally figured out the big Arbonne order and am very relieved. It was my first, and the total was a little over $750 but I will pay right at $400. It includes Christmas gifts so it's not as bad as it seems.

I'm at work today until 2:00; after that I have a long list of things for home, like dinner, cleaning out my car, emptying all the trashcans, washing sheets, whites and jeans, sweeping the wood and tile, cleaning the bathroom and watering inside and outside plants. That should take me right up until 7:00, when I will stop and watch TV.

Kitty Bridge threw up on the big chair in the family room during the night, so I had to contend with that before getting ready for work. I was less than thrilled to clean that mess up, and then step backwards into another little mess on the carpet in front of the chair. God love that little clown; he's going to be the death of me though.

Sleeping was weird because I went upstairs to my little room around 9:30, which was actually soon to be 8:30. I went to sleep but woke up 4-5 times during the night. Finally around 6 or so, it was light and I just went ahead and got up. It takes some getting used to, this non-Daylight Savings stuff. Tomorrow morning I'm sure I'll be up and at'em very early, which will help with my work schedule.

Where IS everybody?

Tejas 10-29-2006 11:02 AM

Hi:

Sleeping was weird here too. I woke up many, many times during the night. There was a big wind storm, which is still a bit with us. This October has been very rainy and windy...more like November normally is.

Dinner at our friends wasn't too hard... she had made chili which looked pretty Core to me. We have movie nights at her house and last night we watched African Queen. Bogie and Hepburn never get old.

Today we are meeting friends at the Woodbine Race Track here. We aren't gamblers at all but it's fun to see the horses sometimes. There is a huge buffet so I really have to be strong today. But, it's so big I'm sure there are lots of choices....but also LOTS of desserts :yikes: I'll try to just ignore them.

I loved the shower rod story. My sweetie's good about things when I remind him! Oh well, they do have such redeeming qualities often.

Froufy, where are you? We need you.

Rhonda

blessedwithsarah 10-29-2006 12:49 PM

Happy Sunday everyone. Today is a new day -- I fell a bit the last 2 days. Friday night I decided I needed pizza. I did order a steak tip salad, ate that and had one small piece. Not too bad. Yesterday was a miserable rainy and windy day. Did my usual chores and shopping and then decide to bake. I did make pumpkin core cake but I also made an apple pie for dh -- since I had my pumpkin cake I did the normal sweet apple pie. I was not going to have any.

We ended up going to an italian restaurnt that has the best meat balls and sauce. I thought about something sort of core but decided to just have what I really wanted - linguinie (regular, not ww) with meat balls and meat sauce. It was fabulous, brought 1/2 home. DD did not eat a thing - it was not a good sign. The only time she doesn't eat is when she is sick.

Well, we are about 2 miles from home, she starts crying and throws up in the car. Oh, the only thing she did eat or drink at dinner was 1/2 her milk. Need less to say it was a quick trip. DH is driving like mad, I'm trying to comfort dd from the front seat - could I have any tissues or napkins in my car -- NO.

So we made it home go everything cleaned up, went back to clean out the car seat. Load of laundry # 1 is going. Sarah then just laid on the couch. Our plan with day light savings was to keep her up a bit late. About an hour after we got home she needed to sit with me and yes, she got sick again all over me. She was so cute though, crying and apologizing to me for getting me "soiled". Not sure where she got that word.

Laudry load # 2 is going and she gets to bed. Thankfully she was fine all night and fine this morning. Must have been some quick bug or possibly bad milk? Who knows.

Anyway that was my weekend so far. Right now dd is sleeping, we have a wake to got to at 2 and then our towns halloween parade at 4. I'll read and catch up later tonight if I can.

Take care everyone!

blessedwithsarah 10-29-2006 12:50 PM

Oh forgot to mention -- After we got Sarah down, I did have a piece of pie, it was fabulous! But I felt guilty this morning. Already took a 1/2 hour walk and we'll be walking alot this afternoon.

Vickie 10-29-2006 01:42 PM

Kath, poor Kitty Bridge and poor you! The pukies and hairballs are not something I miss about my little Scottish Fold Cameo. Really disgusting to step into with one's bare feet! The Arbonne deal sounds good. I'd be interested in hearing how you like it. I have very sensitive skin and much stuff makes me very itchy. I even had to return Hope in a Jar that Jim surprised me with last Christmas because it made my face all itchy. I could use some good cream for my neck and eye hydration. My face is combination and impossible to deal with. It's horribly dry on the forehead by the Tzone is shine city. Try not to work too hard tonight. I know that's impossible for you. I not sure that you know how to relax!

Rhonda, I didn't sleep great either and no nap yet! We should have had a party overnight. I hope you enjoy the racetrack. My family loves the track. Makes us sound bad, doesn't it? My Mom and Dad used to go about four times a year and they always had a ball, just betting a little money. It was never a problem and I used to love to go with. Good Luck at the buffet! In my experience those desserts usually look better than they are.

Paula, I honestly don't think you did too badly in the food department. You should really congratulate yourself for not throwing the whole week out of the window. You had a couple of small slips. No biggie. I'm sorry DD was sick. Based on your description it sure kind of sounds like the milk. I sure hope she continues to feel well.

I'm making a crustless pumpkin pie. I had a little bit of a meltdown at lunch. I think it's the lurking TOM. I had to have nuts and have them now. I was going to put IT pecans in oatmeal but when it got time for lunch I HAD to have PB. I'm thinking that I shouldn't have it in the house anymore. I had two small pieces of whole grain multi-grain bread with 2T Smart Balance natural PB and 2T Polaner All Fruit. It was literally the best I could be. I was a bit out of control but am better now and I think I can cut back a bit at dinner to make up for it.

I'll try to be back later. The Bears are on now. The city is divided during baseball season by the Sox and the Cubs but is united by the Bears. We are all enjoying the success as long as it lasts!

Vickie 10-29-2006 03:02 PM

I'm off to a bubble bath and a book. I may have to put the book down at some point because I'm thinking a nap may happen. I was falling asleep playing cards online.

Hope you're all having a great day. I'm not going to keep talking to myself here! :D ;)

Tejas 10-29-2006 04:02 PM

Hi All:

I'm bragging here! I went to the buffet and ate only CORE! :carrot: :carrot:

I had veggies, fish, veggies, fish, veggies, veggies and more veggies. For desert I had fruit and I had coffee to drink...no wine. I am soooooo proud of myself. The desserts looked wonderful and were wonderful, according to the others. But, I looked at them, thought about everybody here and said :nono: :drill: to myself.

Now, I'm taking a quick nap before we go to dance class. I think I'll call Sandra and see if I can reach here. If I do, I'll give a "life is good" report later.

Rhonda

Katpo 10-29-2006 05:47 PM

Woohoo, Rhonda!! You GO!

I have watered all my plants, inside and out. I did laundry, put out the Halloween candy, and scanned two copies of a picture for Judd. I did one at Walgreens and one at CVS ... didn't want to do it on our own scanner because I wanted a bit more professional printer/paper than I currently have. The picture is of his grandpa's barn in Kentucky. He picked his favorite (CVS, if anyone cares -- and it isn't the Kodak version) so I'll go back and make three more copies, then get them matted and framed. We're keeping one, and giving one to his brother, sister, and parents. It'll go in with their Christmas gifts.

I'm starting to think about making some of that turkey veggie chili (Core) for dinner instead of fish, sweet potatoes, and salad. I have salad stuff that needs to be used, so I'll be taking a salad to work every day this week. Also, I have oatmeal and grits at work that are in my way, so that's what I'm having for breakfast this week. Looks like I'm all decided except for snacks (probably SF jello and 94%FF popcorn) and dinner ... which ought to be fish or chicken, steamed vegetables, and either baked potato or baked sweet potato. I have FF sour cream and cheddar that should be used soon. Might as well clean out the freezer, fridge, and pantry before buying new stuff!!

Well, now having said that, I would have to go to the store for turkey and canned tomatoes if I want to make the veggie chili. Hmmm .... Looks like we're back to the original dinner plan.

Judd played golf today while I worked, and now we're both back home. My laptop has been crapping out on a regular basis (like every 5 minutes, where I would have to reboot) ... so I decided to switch wireless cards with Judd. No problems! Then he tried my card in his laptop and it froze up -- meaning it's the card! He just ordered a new one and hopefully my frustration level will go down soon. Problem #2 is that last night, I tried to turn on my desktop computer and nothing happened. I'm not sure if there's a problem with IT TOO or is it unplugged? UGH! Problem #3 is that the TV in the yellow room only gets ONE channel. I've been reading after going up there, but would really like some TV at night. I think tomorrow I'll look for a good deal on a small TV and put it on the dresser up there. I'm liking that room, and hate that I am unable to sleep with Judd anymore, but sleep is the operative word there. With my work deadlines coming up, I'll be working loooong hours and must have my sleep.

I'm sitting on pins and needles until Sandra gets here! Oh and Rhonda, when do you get here? Will there be a day or so before the wedding that maybe we can all do something?

Elanajel 10-29-2006 08:28 PM

I salute anyone who can go to a buffet and stay OP. That's a really challenging situation.

And reading the story of the vomiting daughter took me back to when my kids were much younger. Our 1st house was a bungalow so our bedrooms were on 1st floor (used 2nd floor bedrooms as home offices). There was a 1st floor laundry in the kitchen, which was especially convenient when (you guessed it) kids would get sick and throw up all night. We could just keep changing the sheets and throwing the old ones straight into the machine. Ah, parenthood. One endless adventure.

I imagine I'll be posting a lot this week--I need to get 4 pounds back off and my 1st day back on Core was far from successful.

Talk with you later--

Katpo 10-29-2006 08:45 PM

Please stay with us. We need "new blood" ... !!!

It's especially important for me, who is basically at my WW goal weight but wanting a lower personal goal, to see people who have lost and can maintain. I am mainly Core but journal (I know ... you aren't supposed to but it's a habit from many, many years) and also tweak a bit. I have, though, lost the majority of my weight eating this type of food ... actually it was Core before Core was developed. Lean beef, chicken, seafood, lots of salads, eggs, skim milk, and vegetables.

Anyway, please stay with us. We like to talk (couldn't you tell???)!

Tejas 10-29-2006 09:01 PM

Thank you, thank you....very proud of myself! I have meetings ALL day tomorrow...about teaching....boy, I guess the administration thinks old dogs can learn new tricks! But, the point here is....there will be cookies all over the place. I think I should go find a little chickie of some kind to put in my pocket to remind me...think I'll look for something like that. It really did help to think about this board while staring at the temptations on the buffet.

I called Sandra's cell but got her answering machine. But, we know they're safe, having a great time, eating CORE, and saying "life is good." But, those Cracker Barrels would be tough on my resolve, I know that.

Kathy, yes, we'll have some time before the wedding to get together with Sandra. I'll send you a pm about our schedule. I hope your computer problems get resolved. I have no, nada, zilch patience when machines don't work
:stress:

Good night all,
Rhonda

Katpo 10-29-2006 09:16 PM

Machines irritate me too. You'd think that since we have six computers in this house (and 3 people), I could find something that works. I am so happy that this wireless card is working. Judd is in the bedroom and has hooked into the regular wiring. Like I even know what I just said ...

I can't wait. Just CAN'T WAIT ... until we can all get together, Rhonda. I am going to make sure my schedule is flexible, no matter what else is going on, so that we don't waste the opportunity.

Vickie 10-30-2006 09:20 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I'm off to my meeting with probably no loss but hopeful anyway.

I'll be quite busy today and hope to be back later. I hope you all have a great OP day. Rhonda, hang in there!

blessedwithsarah 10-30-2006 09:31 AM

Good morning all. I'm happy to report dd was fine all day yesterday and so far today. Her cold, and mine, seem to be hanging on. We've both been coughing just a week. Hopefully we both shake these by next weekend or we are both off to the dr. DH thinks Sarah should go now - but she isn't sick and she is coughing once in a while. I think she needs to get the goo out and just doesn't know how to do it. The pediatric robitussin seems to be working well for her. I also put on vapor rub before school. That actually works very well - I hate to keep giving her medicine.

We did the halloween parade yesterday - of course I forgot the camera. There must have been over 200 kids in costume who took part in the 1 mile walk. It was lots of fun, Sarah was the only spider and thankfully her coat fit under the costume. It was cold last night and windy.

Today is a beautiful day - should be close to 60 today and pushing 70 tomorrow. Woo hoo, love wonderful Tuesday weather for my day off.

I did better on plan after I posted yesterday. Went to our usual place last night for dinner and had a wonderful ginger chicken salad - it did have some pecans on it but no cheese. It was delish.

Kathy, did you get together with the group in Chicago? I didn't see any posts about it, I figured it didn't work out. I hope you Sandra and Rhonda can connect.

Rhonda:bravo: on the buffet. Core can be done easily, if you can skip all of the other temptations!

Vickie, it doesn't sound like you did too bad with the nuts either. PB and J made with smart balance, sf spread and whole grain. It could have been alot worse, if you figured out the points its probably not bad at all. Today is a new day.....for all of us.

Well, I'll go post my menu and I suppose I should get back to work. I had to drop Sarah off at 8 and then call into a conf call on my way in. I got to use my new phone - love the head set, so much clearer to hear then using the phone. I'll stop by later.

Katpo 10-30-2006 10:12 AM

Nope, no Chicago get-together. Jim had an appointment so Vickie wasn't able to meet me. I had a car and Thursday was wide open since I arrived around 9 a.m. and graduation wasn't until the next day, but that was also the day of his appointment. Shaun will be leaving there in a few weeks so there won't be another opportunity.

I'm a bit out of sorts today for some reason. It's like something's not quite right but I can't put my finger on it.

BBL...

Vickie 10-30-2006 10:17 AM

Yeah and poor Cameo was very, very sick at the time. In fact, that was the weekend she ended up at the Emergency Vet overnight.

I would not have been good company. I do feel bad about that still.

Kathy, I hope you feel better soon.

Katpo 10-30-2006 11:03 AM

No, it was just last weekend, the 19th thru 22nd. She passed away on the 16th. But no matter what, really do I understand. I don't want you to feel bad at all.

You never know, there might be an opportunity again.

Vickie 10-30-2006 12:11 PM

It was? Wow....I am really out of it. And I do feel bad but you're not making me feel that way. It's just the way I am. Who knows when another opportunity will ever present itself.

Vickie 10-30-2006 12:15 PM

I'm SO excited. I met 2 Ladies at my meeting that are doing Core. They are very excited about it and they are so motivating with their excitement about Core and being healthy. I told them all about our wonderful recipes here and they are going to come check them out. They both had great loses this week despite going to a Halloween party. Very, very motivating. I gained .8 but am not worried because of the looming TOM. I've already polished off 24 ozs of water and am working on my next 24. I've been a trifle lax about that lately. The one lady lost over 3 pounds and the other Lady lost 5 pounds and it's not just their first week. I do feel motivated for the first time in a long time. I hope it sticks!

I hope you are all doing well.

Katpo 10-30-2006 12:16 PM

It's okay ... honestly. Sometimes things just don't work out like we had hoped.

And now. Did you go to w/i? I am having to counsel my coworker / cubemate because she stepped on the scale this morning and had a terrible shock. She was up about 15 pounds since when she weighed about 3 weeks ago. She's pretty upset about it.

Katpo 10-30-2006 12:17 PM

Oops, I see where we posted at almost the same time. Sounds like you're very excited!! I'm happy that you met them; maybe they'll come visit us!

Vickie 10-30-2006 12:17 PM

Yeah, I went. I was just confessing. We must have been posting at the same time!

Vickie 10-30-2006 12:18 PM

Yikes....15 pounds in 3 weeks. I'd be suicidal.

Elanajel 10-30-2006 12:22 PM

A lot of that could be water (well, not sure how much of that but trying to sound encouraging).

Any tips on increasing how much water I drink? I have a big orange bottle I keep at home and a Poland Springs in the car. I probably drink about 2/3 as much as I should. Could be worse, I know, but given how dry it is inside now that central heat is on I'd probably feel better overall if I were more hydrated.

Vickie 10-30-2006 12:25 PM

Elana, when I was doing great on Core I was drinking 64-72 ozs of plain water in addition to other decaf beverages (decaf diet pepsi, black decaf coffee).

Froufy 10-30-2006 04:02 PM

Hi chickies,

Just checking in after a busy weekend! Saturday had a bit of back ache - dh took little ds to his school hallowe'en party and I just vegged out at home. Watched some great old(ish) movies on tv sat night - The Omen and The Bad Seed - very entertaining! On Sunday we had that horrible windy/rainy weather - took dd shopping to the mall - she had $$ which was burning a hole in her pocket and just had to spend it! Bought herself some new runners and a pair of 'skinny' jeans - very happy child. Decided to be a fairy princess for hallowe'en so I spent a few hours (while she was at dance rehearsal) hunting down a pair of wings, tiara and a wand! Also got groceries. Ended up at chinese buffet w/dh and little ds - altho I did not overeat I know most of what I ate was definitely not core!

Last night went to movie w/dh - but was very tired - despite the EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP! (yippee) have to keep changing all my watches as I wear them.

Tomorrow I am not in the office as I am doing my presentation at the conference downtown - I am already stressing about getting up early, getting ready - driving downtown, parking - and getting there by 8:15 am!!! I am not an early morning frouf.

Rhonda - congrats on your amazing control at the buffet - you are doing so well and are so motivated - good for you!

Vickie - think of all those extra calories you burned hanging those shower curtains - I can certainly relate to the 'height issue"! :D I made the cola meatballs last week - and dh made sloppy joes w/leftover ground beef - both very very yummy.

Kathy - how is your cubby mate doing? I too would freak about 15 extra pounds in 3 weeks (unless I was on some major cruise or something?).

And I was invited to Toronto this weekend to attend the bachelorette party of one of my cruise tablesmates (the one getting married in Vegas on nov 28th) - claiming I must attend and stay at her place as I would be the life of the party - too funny!

Paula - hope your dd is all cured - and it was nothing but a teeny little tummy bug - poor thing!

Melissa - how goes the battle? How is your PC doing? Any parties planned?

So is Sandra checking in anytime soon?

I am also stressing due to mortgage renegotiations - taking up a lot of our time as we are trying something very non-traditional and new (at least for canadians) - see www.smithman.net Have had 2 meetings so far with different financial peoplel - and another meeting wed night - and one pending bank meeting- my head is spinning with numbers and bank accounts and details - hard to sleep.

Now must go find USB port thing to take to conference tomorrow as I am neurotic and afraid they will have lost my ppt presentation!

Later,

Frouf

Tejas 10-30-2006 05:31 PM

Hi All:

Whew, made it through all of today's meetings with lunch and cookies without caving in to the sugar and white flour. I did have a glass of wine at the reception. But, only one, then switched to Perrier. I also had some hard cheese, but only two wedges that I'd guess were about an ounce each.

We have our first private dance lesson tonight to see what we can put together for our first dance at our wedding reception. I'm coming down with a cold, which is OK....I'll just get the required Fall cold over with by the wedding.

Froufy, glad to see you back. And that poor woman, 15 pounds in three weeks....oh my, oh my.

Rhonda

Tejas 10-30-2006 10:44 PM

Quiet night tonight....OK, I won't just talk to myself here...see you all tomorrow I hope!

Rhonda

Katpo 10-31-2006 08:12 AM

Quiet MONTH! Here's hoping November will be better!!

It's hard to believe the year is nearly over ... where on earth did it go? Seems like yesterday that I had my accident and it's been 7 months. I guess it seems like yesterday because it still won't bend and the feeling hasn't come back yet. Maybe someday.

I can't think of a good menu thread title so I'm going to wait until someone else starts it!

Vickie 10-31-2006 08:36 AM

Good Morning Chicks! My Sister/BIL are coming over today for a fun Christmas Decoration and Christmas Store shopping trip. Lunch is the treat at the end. Then we rest for a bit at my house before going to the Niece's to see her kids and to trick or treat. It will be a busy and very long day.

Frouf, I missed your postings VERY much and am so glad to see you back here. It wouldn't be the same without you! You truly had a crazy weekend. By now you must be doing your drive downtown to make your presentation. If you speak like you write, then I'm sure it will be VERY entertaining and informative. I used to get very nervous for those things as well. You said you were invited to Toronto. Are you going? Too bad you couldn't work in a production of Wicked if you go. I just know you would love it! I bet you are the life of the party. I'd want you at my party too! I confess I didn't understand all of the mortgage stuff but if it saves a $100 dollars a year after expenses, I'd be all over it. In the states, morgage interest is tax deductible but it doesn't really seem to be worth much. Maybe we save 25% of what interest we pay for the year. Better than nothing. I'd sure be screaming if they tried to take the deduction away!

Rhonda, sorry you were here alone last night. Jim and I were watching a movie called Prime. We are SO far behind on our movies. It was VERY funny. Congratulations on avoiding so many treats at your meetings. It was very hard to follow a program when I was working. How was the private dance lesson? I SO loved my lessons.

Kathy, we're looking forward to ringing in the new year. This one has been hard.

I woke up about every hour last night. Must be one of those hormonal things. I almost got up at 3:45 but kept trying to sleep. I finally fell asleep about 5:00 and finally got up at 6:30. I'm off to shower now since Sis will be here at 10:00!

Tejas 10-31-2006 09:03 AM

Good Morning All:

The private dance lesson was just great. Our teacher has created a dance for us using "our song" from high school: "In the Still of the Night" by the Five Satins. It's a very slow fox trot which allows us to show off a few turns and tricky steps here and there...what a hoot this is.

Froufy, I'm with Vickie...miss your posting so don't go too far away. Let us know how it goes today.

Kathy, I didn't quite get it beofre that you didn't have feeling in your foot...ow! Time will likely heal it at least some...don't let it keep you from dancing

I have a morning of grading papers, an afternoon of teaching and an evening of NOT eating candy.

Rhonda

Katpo 10-31-2006 09:22 AM

Yes, the nerves were stripped away from the bone and tendon and whatever else is in there. It's numb on the bottom (like asleep) but I can feel temperature differences like a cold floor. Very odd ... and disturbing. The doctor said it would likely be a year or more before it started getting better. There's still no range of motion in that ankle.

Your dancing sounds like so much fun! Good luck on the no-candy eating.

Vickie, enjoy your day!

I'm only working for 10 hours today then will race to the store so that I'll be home before the kids start arriving. Ordinarily I wouldn't care but this year we put out our pumpkin lights -- little tiny jack-o-lanterns that go all across the front of the house in front of the flowerbeds. Some years we do, and some years we don't. Since we were having that party a few weeks ago, we decided to decorate and that was part of it. Now everyone will assume we're giving out candy so I might as well. Some years we have 5 kids and some years there are 200+. You just never know ...

I'm making an easy no-brainer dinner (spaghetti and salad) so maybe I'll make the pumpkin pie too. Now if only it would get cold here.

Elanajel 10-31-2006 11:37 AM

Great with exercise/less great with food

I went to my Boot Camp last night, which I just love. The instructor is great. It's a mix of cardio intervals on a Bosu and then free weights for chest/back/biceps/triceps. A tough round of abdominals with a lot of focus on obliques. Today I'm not sore--I hope this means I am stronger.

The downside: I haven't figured out how to eat after class (I get home at 8 p.m.) and stop myself at a reasonable amount of food. To be honest, I don't do any of the check-in to see if I'm still hungry. I'm sure part of it is dehydration and I respond to thirst as if it were hunger. I ate 2 rounds of guacamole chips:devil: (worth 6 points) with nf cottage cheese and 1 serving of grapefruit wedges. I realize these weren't bad choices, but I probably should have stopped at 1 bowl of chips. It could have been worse, I know.

Today I am facing the challenge of my fridge, specifically cleaning out the rotten whatevers that are lurking in there. Now that I'm on Core, I buy so much fresh produce but a certain % rots before I get to it. I think I'll use more frozen veg. instead and just get enough fresh for a daily salad and a bit extra for snacks.

Hope everyone survives Halloween and staying away from the leftover candy. I had my DH only buy stuff I loathe (SweetTarts, etc.) so it will be easy for me to toss it (even tho. I hate to waste money!) once the evening is over.

Bye for now.

we got here late yesterday. last night we got a lot of hugs/kisses from our granddaughters. was it ever wonderful!! they're trick or treating tonight. we'll go see them again tomorrow evening.

curtis took me to ww this am. doctor's orders are for me to attend weekly. he's wanting to see how i do when i get home. i have an appt early january with him. so far so good. i lost a pound while traveling. i now weight 169.0. i think that's pretty amazing what with sitting all day riding for days and days. (seemed like longer than 4 days)

rhonda, i got your message yesterday when i checked the cellphone. thank you for calling to check on us. we didn't have the phone turned on cuz we didn't have a way to recharge it while traveling. we're too tight to buy a cigarette lighter charger. it's charging away now on electricity here at the ranch.

everyone who has my email address, please send me an email. this puter doesn't have your email addyieson it. i had typed them to bring with me, but can't find the sheet.

kathy, i'm going to call you tonight or tomorrow. i'll call tonight if my energy holds out. curtis and i are both exhausted.

rhonda, i need to talk to you about the rv ranch. go to their website i typed in at the first of this post. look it over--especially their suites. they have 2 or 3 available from mid-nov till thanksgiving. they look like fancy western bed and breakfast rooms. one has a kitchen. don't know if you're interested in cooking.

vickie, i just saw where you're having family fun today/tonight. makes me smile.

now i need to go read posts and get caught up. i hope all of you are doing well.

Wellllll ... Sandra just called and sounded SO GOOD! I hope to go see them shoot Saturday. And then there will be time after that for visiting, I'm sure, since she said they might be here until the first week or so of December.

I've had exactly 7 kids come to the front door as of this minute. With 9 bags of candy, I could have loaded them all up, but I doubt their parents would have been too amused at that. I had gotten 4 smallish bags the other day, and today Judd said that wasn't nearly enough so I stopped on the way home and got more. One of them was a really big bag of Tootsie Rolls. If nobody else comes, we're in BIG trouble.

And I broke Judd's cord to his laptop tonight. It was fraying and just fell apart when I plugged mine in. The battery was getting low or I wouldn't have bothered going to the power supply. He keeps his plugged into the family room and I keep mine in the bedroom; NOT ANYMORE! Mine is now in the family room and we'll just have to share like good kids.

Okay, off to see about dinner. He went to Cracker Barrel for lunch so I've made a command decision not to cook anything; I will, however, slice some cheese and put a few crackers on a plate. It's the least I can do. ;)

Hi All:

I'm so tired tonight that I almost fell asleep in the chair. I've got an early and long day tomorrow so I'll be brief.

Halloween has been very slow here....don't understand it at all.

Glad you made it Sandra...I'll write privately to you and Kathy.

Night all..

Rhonda

I've done very well with avoiding the Halloween candy and temptations. :nono:

kathy, we didn't have any trick or treaters. guess we'll use the quarters in the laundry room here. quarters were curtis' idea. he was afraid to have candy around. i hope you and judd can come watch us shoot saturday. i think that will be neat. i'm sooooooo ready to meet you.

rhonda, congratulations on doing well around the halloween treats. i overate today in cleburne at west end grill. i had some bbq ribs and salad. i guess i could have done worse. we are taking our lunch with us tomorrow to train up in ft worth. afterwards we're having our first water aerobics session. i found 2 places that have indoor pools available to us. we're joining hugueley fitness center for a month. that's the best deal for us. this will be curtis' first w a. should be fun. i'm glad he's doing it with me.

i told him tonight about your dance that you two will be doing. curtis is anxious to see it. (me, too!)

Good Morning Chicks! And boy do I mean morning.....I've been up since 2:45. Yet another night of sleeplessness. I'm sure it's hormonal.

I did great with my eating yesterday. I came home to a very sad message from my friend Cindy. She's back in Loyola hospital with the mystery fevers and she can't eat again. They are guessing it's the Leukemia. She was scheduled to go into the hospital on November 13 to begin the transplant but now we don't know what's happening. I'm so scared for her. By the time I was able to call back in the evening she was in the middle of a fever and couldn't talk. I talked to her husband and he sounded grim. I'm praying like crazy and hoping it helps.

Of course, this triggered a mini-food binge. It was quite tame compared to other days and at the moment I have points to cover it. I had 8 saltine crackers with smart balance light smeared on them. I really must get to the bottom of the stress/emotional eating issue. I need to get my comfort from someplace else.

I'm going to go see what I missed.
