Default Looking for a good snack cracker

Does anyone know of a tasty snack cracker that I could incorporate into the core program? I have no snack type foods for core in my house and I really want something. Anything good that is lower pt value?

They are not core, but Kashi makes TLC crackers which are pretty good. Most of them are about 2 points for about 15 crackers, though I think the cheddar flavored ones are higher in points. They are pretty tasty (hence the TLC--tasty little crackers). I don't know whether or not general grocery stores sell them, I bought them at a health-food grocery store. But I think that I have seen them at Wal-Mart too. Someone around here mentioned something about ww crackers that were pretty good, maybe whoever it was will come by and tell about those.

The WW cheese cracker are pretty good for 2 points a bag. I only had them once, but they had a lot of flavor and were very crunchy. Kind of like crunchy cheetos.

Barbara's Bakery has some similar to the Pepperidge Farm goldfish, in several flavors. They are lower in points, but you'd never know from the taste. Way too good for me to buy them very often.

I found this idea on the Internet for totally core crackers. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it would be very tasty.

Cheese crackers
Take a sheet of wax paper big enough to sit at the bottom of your microwave and spray it with Pam. Put about a tablespoon of FF cheese of any kind in different spots on the wax paper. Place in microwave and cook for about a minute 40 to a minute 50 seconds until the cheese is melted and starting to get brown. Don't let it get too brown or it will smell really bad! When it's done, let it sit for a minute or two and then you will have cheese crackers that are crunchy and are a fabulous vehicle for eating salsa or any kind of CORE dip. You can make them and keep them in a Tupperware container in your fridge for about a week or so!

Terry, thanks for that! I tried doing this in the oven with American cheese slices, and um ... let's just say I had a big mess on my hands! I think I'll try this tonight with the FF cheese.

A lady I work with is doing WW points and she recently got some rosemary and olive oil flavored Triscuits. They are really good.

Sorry I don't know the points, tho, as I am on South Beach myself (which I've heard is very similar to Core) and Triscuits are allowed for us since they are whole wheat.

Cool A Good Cracker Snack

My Wife and I are both on the Core and we have 1 Wasa Whole Grain Cracker with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow French Onion or Garlic and Herb spreadable cheese on it. This is only 1 point! The Wasa crackers are available at Walmart. Laughing Cow is available at almost every grocery store.

Another great cracker is Soy Crisps from Mamma Says. 20 of the White Cheddar ones are 2 points. Yes, you read it right - 20 crisps. These are available at CostCo.

No snack food - don't your have fruit, veggies, meat, cheese, eggs...you have healthy snacks. We're supposed to be getting away from the junk stuff. Wasa Crispbread is great.

Don't microwave that cheese, bake it. It works better. Maybe about 8 mins or so at 400 degrees, I think. Just keep an eye on it. You want it to be that golden Cheezit color. This works w/ Parmesan cheese or any cheese you can find that's ff.

I haven't tried baking it but I will. I've tried the microwave method and it does work. My Niece is the one who posted the suggestion which she got from Suzanne Somers.

Thanks all - these suggestions sound great. I'm going to try the homemade crackers first. I just need a little something for those days when I need a small snack and fruit just isn't substantial enough sometimes. I love cheese-its, so this sounds right up my alley.
