More DDR questions

  • For those that have and do DDR......

I went to the DDR website and see that on top of choosing what system, if I get a system at all (meaning if I was to buy the plug and play), they have different types of mats, metal, foam, and non slip. Of course, being a BIG girl, I immediately think I need the metal mat. In your experienced opinion, and seeing my size ticker below, what would you do? I keep thinking that the price of the metal ones are so high, but some exercise equipment is that high too.
  • I don't think weight has anything to do with it! I think the metal mats are sturdier and maybe won't fall apart - but the down side is that you would need a larger space to store this type of mat. The beauty of the soft mats is you can fold them up and put them away.

From what I have ready many people start w/the soft mats and may or may not proceed to the metal mat given their experience and usage of the game!

  • I think the soft mat would be fine, especially if you put it on a harder floor (not shag carpet ) You don't want to invest a lot of money into it until you're sure you really like it. One thing, once you get into the higher game levels, the impact on your joints gets higher too. So if you wouldn't normally do high impact stuff like jogging, some aerobics, etc, take it easy with DDR. I know with my extremely flat feet, I need to modify certain moves and stop playing earlier than I want so I don't injure myself.

Good luck, and let us know how you like it!

  • I would love to get DDR. We have a playstation 1. If anybody sees a good deal, let me know!
  • Look around on e-bay - there are lots of brand new ddr games for playstation. I ordered mine from the US and I think I got a great deal - I think it was $49.99 for the DDR extreme and 2 soft mats! (plus shipping of course).

    Good luck!
