Would this be core?

  • If I took boneless/skinless chicken, breaded in seasoned cornmeal and then fried it in canola oil, would that be core since all the ingredients are core?

Just trying to get the hang of this core stuff!
  • I don't think so, because I think frying anything, even in "good" oils, is against the rule. Maybe it's because fried foods are usually trigger foods?

I'm sure if that's wrong, someone will swoop in here to correct me!
  • It would be Core but it might also be very dangerous, as Kathy says. You'll have to figure out what your triggers are. WW says not to eat even Core foods if they cause you to overeat or binge. If you could have one serving and stop, it's probably ok. Folks fry polenta slices in olive oil all the time and call it Core so I think this is ok too. I couldn't stop at one piece though!
  • I would only make enough to feed myself one serving and one for dh. DH doesn't care much for chicken and I thought it might spice it up a little to fry it this way. Fried chicken isn't really a trigger food for me. I guess I'll try it and see what happens. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll let you know how it turns out.
  • Well, now this is good to know! I think I could make "naked chicken strips" like they have in some fast food restaurants now. I could do breading for the others and nothing for me. I thought nothing could be fried but I'm THRILLED to be wrong about it!
  • As long as you are only using 2 teaspoons of your good oil, you're ok!
