Linda, good to hear from you as always! How is Flex going for you?

Frannie57 02-12-2005 04:45 PM

Nice poem! Love it!

Lore--A Challenge is an Opportunity to Succeed......This is what you have tonight, good luck! I know you can do it.

Vickie--I hope you are feeling better real soon

Kathy--nice bike. DH had a bike until last year! Will get another I am sure......he travelled by bike to come and see me in Illinois......14 hours......true love! DS has his bike license as well but can't afford the insurance.....some day.

Beautiful cold day today. Sun is shining. 2 inches of snow this morning but it is off the roads now. I think I will go for a walk......maybe skip a few of my streets that I do! People will think I am nuts but hey if you can't have fun it is not worth it!

We are going to the movies tonight to see Hitch! Hope it is good. Will bypass the popcorn and "sneak" something legal in!

Cheers

Angela-WTG at the Hibachi place. :) John and I are HUGE Japanese food lovers, and there's a place we used to go to every week for sushi, and once in a while for thier Hibachi. Sushi is the only thing I still crave with a vengeance, and I got really excited after switching to Core when I realized I can use my point on it. (It was pretty much out of the question on SBD.) Although, I can say this--I can't believe how much money we've saved not going out every weekend for sushi night. :) There's alwys a bright side.

Kathy-Love the pic of you and the bike! John and I always joke like we're gonna get a bike, but he's like 135 soaking wet, and I'm barely 5 feet tall. He'd blow off the thing, and I'd be zooming along with my feet unable to touch the ground! hehehe.

Hugs and happy stuff to everyone else! I was fairly productive today. Got some good cleaning in, took a lovely nap with the (fur)babies, and I think I may even do some research on my paper before all is said and done. :)

Checking In!!

First - congrats to Bride on the great weigh - in, way to go! :cb: :cb: :cb:

Kathy - you look great with that bike! Did I ever mention to you ladies that there is a big honking motorcylce in our garage - dh's, but not in working order right now (thank goodness). ...and yes I have taken a couple of rides on it with him (when we were dating)...mostly with my eyes shut and fingers clenching his jacket as tightly as possible - used to get cramps in my hands cuz I wouldn't let go - even at the red lights and stop signs! (big chicken Froufie).

Hooch - good luck with the "sampling"...just stick a piece of sugarless gum in your mouth and keep chewing! :dizzy:

Angela - your dinner sounds great - I LOVE JAPANESE steakhouse places - there is one in town which the kids always choose when it's their birthday dinner - great food and pretty core friendly! Unfortunately I also love tempura which I'm sure would add points very quickly

Sorry to hear you "overdid" it a bit Vickie (altho it sure sounded yummy) - hope you recover very soon! :grouphug:

Good news for me this week - down another 2 lbs! YIPPEE. I did exercise 4 times this week (yes I did my Richard simmons video last night), and I"m sure that helped.

It is almost time to get ready for our special Valentine's dinner out and I am really anticipating it - very nice restaurant w/amazing food. I actually called yesterday to find out about the valentine's meal (table d'hote) - starts w/a soup (morel/mushroom w/vermouth!)..then some appetizers (I caught "baby greens" and foie gras or spring rolls or something w/r____t - you know the word we're not allowed to use in assocation w/food or eating?). Main dishes are filet mignon (black peppercorn sauce, potato/leek pancake and veggies, a fish dish, a chicken dish and OSTRICH??? - is that core??? )....and a "selection" of desserts??? Depending on how I'm doing I might indulge in a little something but basically don't feel the need right now for anything sweet? I think I am leaning toward the filet mignon but might try the fish depending on how it's prepared? and what sauce it has on it?

Best news is when I got home from doing groceries this pm I actually got on my TREADMILL (even before getting on the computer!) and did a 30 (pre-programmed) walk....it kept changing from 1 to about 1.5% elevation and from 3.1 to 3.4 mph - quite a nice workout and I was able to watch the Simpsons  while doing it so it was pretty painless!

Also had my nails done today - a nice bright crimson/pinky color to celebrate Valentine's day - got kiddies presents (valentine mug & stuffed bear for dd (who is currently not speaking to me by the way), hot wheels cars for the little guy and some cadbury easter creme eggs for the big boy - he loves them). Dh got a mushy card and a box of chocolate covered cherries (probably inhaled them all by now? - I of course have not had any!). I am still enjoying my dozen red roses and have a card to open as well.

DH likes the idea of getting "ourselves" a blender for Valentine's day as well so might go shopping for one tomorrow (anyone have any "brand names" they want to share?)....

Now comes the very difficult task of beautifying myself! :D :D Going to shower and make myself presentable (and will try to stop thinking of all the laundry that is waiting for me tomorrow - UGH!).

Froufie - have a wonderful evening...

Katpo 02-12-2005 08:19 PM

Oh Frouf! Have a wonderful evening out!! And yes ... I think ostrich is CORE! Whatever!

I would recommend a red KitchenAid blender. It will remind you of Valentine's Day, and red is a very popular color in the KA stuff this year. I have a whole bunch of new red kitchen utensils and love them.

You'll have to tell us why your DD isn't speaking. You know you can't drop a bomb like that and then just run off!!!

KO 02-13-2005 12:51 AM

Frouf, sounds like a wonderful night! Hope you had a great time. Sure sounds like your hubby might be coming around. You deserve it!

Kierie, you did FABULOUS! What a great week. It's fun to change your tracker isn't it?!

Lisa, was it hard mentally for you to be good at a holiday meal? It was for me at first but now it's getting easier.

Nice job girls. I made corn cakes yesterday and they were to die for. I was going to eat leftovers today but I've changed my mind. All I can think about is having more of them. Might be a sign that I can't make them too often!

I also made the apple berry mock crisp, or whatever the heck it is called, and Jim didn't like it too much. The steel cut oats gave him the same texture as couscous.....and we all know he's never eating couscous again! I ate mine and it was just ok. I though it needed Splenda and I think I left it in the oven too long the second time around. Another 20 minutes would have been enough after the first 20. I'll probably have mine cold after lunch or for a snack. I have to find something else to make for dessert now. He LOVES his dessert! Today, I'm roasting a whole turkey and making mashed potatoes. I was going to make corn but fear that, too, is a trigger for me so I'm making green beans instead.

What's up with all of you?

Katpo 02-13-2005 10:42 AM

I hope this is a quiet day around here -- but I have just made my list of chores and it ain't little!

DH is off on a motorcycle ride, big DD is going to a BD party and little DD is at work until 3:00, then probably off with her friends. I am making a roast in the crockpot, need to clean up the kitchen, fold some clothes, wash the upstairs towels, and cut out fabric for a quilt I'm starting for my new niece. She was born at the end of November but I figure I've still got a little time. I make one for all of the nieces/nephews and I'll make this one big enough where it can also be a toddler quilt. So far I'm pleased with my color selections, and I'll try to post a pic when I get it all pieced.

aghiowa 02-13-2005 10:45 AM

Hey everybody. Congratulations weigh-ers! Great job on those weigh ins. And everyone who was good during their meals out, congratulations too! I got some pretty exciting news yesterday. My BIL, who we despaired of ever getting married (he's 31) is engaged and is going to be married next month to a Colombian girl. They met online, and he just got back from spending 3 weeks down there. I saw pictures, and she's a cutie. He's going back in March, they're getting married, he's coming home, she's waiting 2 weeks for her visa, then she comes to join him. She's afraid of the cold in Iowa (guess it's like 80 degrees there all the time), and I don't blame her. March in Iowa is not a pretty month either. I'm thinking that I'll get her e-mail address, and start up a dialogue with her to let her know there's family here that's excited about her coming, and that I can help her. For those of you who have emigrated or know about this, what's the best way I can help? I want her to feel loved and comfortable, but Iowa is SO different from Colombia. I do have a friend from Mexico who recently moved here to marry an Iowa man, so I will hook them up. Yay, a new sister in law! Anyway, hope everyone has a great Sunday. We're off to church pretty soon - it's a grey, rainy, icky looking day here, but not too cold.

bye!
Angela

Katpo 02-13-2005 10:49 AM

Oh yeah, confession. I also have ONE other little chore to do ... am embarrassed to say it but I might as well. Maybe it'll keep me accountable and make sure I really DO IT!

You know that thing we put up end of November, first of December ... the green thing? With colored lights and balls and stuff like that? Most people take theirs down early January? Well ... um ... mine is still ... there. Yes, it's still there. Now in my defense, we NEVER go into that room. It doesn't show, nobody sees it, and for goodness sakes at least we don't still light it up! Problem is that I only remember about undecorating when DH isn't home, and since it's 12 feet tall I have to get the BIG ladder, which hangs on the garage wall behind the motorcycle trailer and I can't get to it. I've undecorated it as far up as I can reach, so today I'm going to get the medium ladder and get a few more ornaments down. The lights are built-in so that's good. Bows are staying on thru the summer this year. And ... sigh ... even if I get it undone, I can't put it up, because it goes in the very top attic, which means dragging it upstairs, then up the attic stairs. We have two walk-in attics but nooooo, the tree just has to go in the very tip-top.

One year is was April before it got put up (was undecorated in February) because DH spent the whole months of Jan, Feb, and March at Whiteman AFB in Missouri. Now THAT was embarrassing! The kids wouldn't let their friends come over.

Vickie 02-13-2005 10:50 AM

Kathy, I wish I enjoyed stuff like quilting. I fear that I do not have the patience!

Is it really 64 in Texas right now? It's 40 degrees here in Chicago and it is supposed to be raining all day.

Katpo 02-13-2005 11:08 AM

Yes ma'am ... it really is. And the sun is trying to come out. We had rain for the last few days, but today the high is going to be 70, I think. I will probably go for a nice walk later this afternoon.
