I believe orienteering is hiking by compass - like you go out on a "treasure hunt" type thing with your compass and maps, follow the directions, and get to the right place. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, Angela. Who would have thought that is a common activity? :) You deserve lots of activity points for keeping up with your houseful of little ones tonight! I'm sure you earned enough APs to take care of those 2 cookies and a dozen more! :)
|
That's probably good, because I ended up eating a few more cookies! I'm such a sucker for home-baked cookies. I thought I was pretty smart though, and bagged up a vast majority of them and sent them home with the other families. Now I only have a few left here to feed my family. And maybe one more for me??? :)

Oh yeah, one more thing. I noticed pedometer on the activity list. I wear a pedometer, and do that walking club thing at WW. I don't know if everyone's WW does it, but at ours, you can get certificates for every 100 miles walked etc. Anyway, I haven't tried to enter it into the President's fitness site, but I wonder if I could. Of course, the pedometer registers every step during the exercise I DO log too, so I guess I'd be double-billing them if I did pedometer too. :)

Kathy, don't close the group yet because I haven't had time to join. We were out last night and I'll be babsitting all day today. I'll sign up on Sunday.

Kathy - sent you a PM re admin info?
Exactly how do we log into the group? Or do we just view group progress? I entered my exercise for last night, but went thru my personal "name/login"..is that right? Am I doing something wrong? HELP! Frouf |
Frouf, try this:
http://www.presidentschallenge.org/g...min/login.aspx with the login info I gave you. Either put the 27507 or the group name, and then the password that I PM'd back to you. Anyone else wanting it, just let me know. |
Okay - I got in and saw how we were all doing (and that I was close to the bottom of the list in activity points - how shocking - and predictable! :):))...and it did "pickup " the activity I entered last night - so looks like we enter activities individually but can check on group activity using the # and password!

Froufie,
Never fear ... I will be keeping you company at the bottom of the activity points ledger. But we'll do better! And don't forget to log your improvised exercise from last night ... see how innovative you are? I myself can watch television without moving a muscle and not feel the least bit guilty! :) Kathy, can you PM me the info also so I can check on the kindred spirits of our group? Thanks! |
Thanks, Angela for mentioning the pedometer thing. I bought a pedometer months ago and have never taken it out of the package. I think I'll start using it. I'll probably take it off while doing whatever exercise I intend to report. If you're reporting your DDR time, maybe you can just remove it while you're doing that or do a check to see how many steps it registers and deduct it from total steps you report. It would be a shame for you not to claim credit for the thousands of steps you take each day!
|
Yes, ma'am Deb!! It's on the way!!
The thing about the pedometer is that it wants the number of steps + minutes. Now how is that possible? If you wear it all day, you'd have to put hundreds of minutes! Maybe if it's just for a dedicated walk or something, it would be possible to log the number of steps/minutes. Anyone have an idea about this? |
Kathy, thanks for sending the info.
I was fooling around on the site and when you enter the pedometer activity, it gives you the bracket for steps. When I entered 5000 steps, it gave me credit for 30 minutes. Try it and see if it does that for you. I was trying to get an idea of how many steps I would need to walk to make the 30 minute daily quota. |
Well, I'm registered and have logged in my 30 minute walk. I didn't see any lifestyle exercise activities. Are you really adding housecleaning, etc? What would you log it under? Just curious. I'd love to see the admin info. When I compared myself to others in my group without the admin info, it said there was only one other participant. This can't be right can it?

Vickie, did I send you the password? If not, I will -- just let me know.
There is an actual category for household duties or something like that. |
No, Kathy, I don't have it but then I'm not sure how to get PM's. I'll go look around.
