Newbie~Have been on CORE for 1 week!
Hello all! I just wanted to introduce myself. I originally came to this site several weeks ago and had planned to do the South Beach plan. I bought the book, but before I could read it, I saw a commercial for WW new CORE plan. I do my plan online.
I started January 1st, a Saturday, so I have been OP for a little over a week now. At my first weigh-in (I do them at home on my Tanita), I lost an amazing 9 pounds, and it was just the mental motivator I needed.
I have made a lot of changes that really show that this time is the last time I will try to lose weight. My whole lifestyle and attitude has changed. I have also registered to walk an Avon 2-day Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City (I live in Missouri) on October 1st and 2nd. I start my training for that tomorrow, and I am so excited. I am starting out nice and slow and never increasing my weekly long walk by more than 10%.
My starting weight was 225, my current weight (as of yesterday's WI) is 216, my WW goal weight is 144, and my personal goal weight is 135 (subject to change once I get closer).
I am so excited to be with you all on this journey!
Candy (not my real name, just the addiction I have successfully curbed since starting WW!)
Welcome, Candy! I'm Vickie (my real name!) and I've been overweight all my life and have joined WW several times. I was always successful on the program but never before like on Core. I started Core in the middle of September and have lost 23.2 pounds. I have 127 more to lose. I exercise 7 days a week for 30 minutes on the treadmill at 2.6 MPH. I have to do this or my pre-menopausal body which has been also messed up by too many diets won't let me lose weight. I'm averaging about 1.34 pounds per week which I'm very happy with at this stage of my life! I believe that I can stay on Core forever and certainly long enough to reach my goal.
Come join us on the Core support board. That's where we go daily to give each other support and assistance.
Candy, welcome! I agree with you; the Core plan is an entire lifestyle and attitude change. I don't feel like I'm on a diet, I feel like I'm doing myself a favor by finally eating healthfully and exercising.
Congrats on your great weight loss! 9 pounds is wonderful!!
How long have you been in Missouri? I'm up north a little, in eastern Iowa.
Welcome again, and post often. This is a great group of ladies.

Thanks girls!
I have been in Missouri since May of 2002. My husband is in the Air Force, and so we had to leave our assignment in Okinawa Japan, kicking and screaming, to be stationed here. We are stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, but we live in a nearby town where we bought our first house.
We can't wait to leave! I am from Chicago and my husband is from Monterey, so we are a little out of our element (like Okinawa wasn't! lol... we still loved Japan).
Candy, I'm in the South Suburbs of Chicago! Born and raised here and here to stay! Even though my good government job tried to get me to go to DC or Dallas.
Welcome Candy!
It's always nice to hear from another person that core is working for them. I have been on it since mid September and have lost a total of 25 lbs. I'm down under 200 for the first time in many years! I am working on my second goal which is another 10%. I just keep telling myself I only have to lose 10% of my body weight 5 times (4 now since I hit my 10% a couple of weeks ago)and I will be at goal!. It's easier to digest that way. I too am not having sugar cravings on core although you quickly regain the taste for it as I found out during the holidays when I strayed slightly from program. I have been able to bake cookies for my son and not indulge. Good luck and stick around cause we are in it for the long haul and even those close to goal will need to maintain.

Small world! The aircraft I work on, the B-2, is based at Whiteman. I do courseware development and my husband also works here as a systems engineer. He has to go to Whiteman for testing several times a year so he's familiar with the area and the base.

Awesome Kathy! We often see the B-2 flying in the sky, and it is an amazing sight! My husband is a firefighter at Whiteman, and the only fire department is on the flight line, so he gets to see it up close all the time! I saw one up close at the last air show we went to... I think it was like July or something.
Do you know where Warrensburg is? That is where we live.
Hi Candy,
I have my first weigh-in tomorrow. I think I've done pretty well for my first week. It hasn't been too difficult trying to figure out the plan but I have had my moments - like snacks! I need crunchy snacks that aren't of the "veggie" nature, I can't find ff popcorn in canada AND airpopped popcorn is like eating cardboard! Good luck with the program!
Yep, they stay in Warrensburg sometimes, and Sedalia or Knob Noster the rest of the time. One of the girls from my office recently married one of the staff sgts from there -- he was down here last year for testing and they met, got married a few months later, and now she lives up there.
Welcome, Shelley! And good luck with finding your crunchy snacks -- I'm trying to think of something but nothing comes to mind just yet.
Candy,
Welcome and congratulations on your progress so far. I did an Avon walk a few years ago and it was an amazing experience. Do make sure you stick with your training plan, otherwise you will not enjoy the end of the days
