I think it must be something in the air, because my scale isn't budging either. : ) Actually, I know my problem is water retention. I wish AF would visit soon!!

We ended up getting 12 inches of snow over the last day or two. I shoveled for 45 min yesterday (5 activity points - I'm SO sore) and you can't even see that I did anything now.

School has been cancelled 3 times this week already. I'm getting pretty tired of it-I'm ready to pack my kindergartner off to school again. She stuck her tongue on our grill yesterday, and came running in with blood dripping from her mouth. Today, she's still walking around with her tongue hanging out of her mouth. Aah, the hazards of living in the cold and snow.

Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy.

Angela

Another scale-rider checking in!! I swear I must be addicted to that thing! I've even started weighing myself at night, saying "okay, if you're THIS tonight, you'll be lower in the morning!" What's up with that?

Linda, I totally understand the flex, core, flex, core dilemma. And that 5-10 pounds is as hard for me (us) as 50-75 for other people. My total loss since Labor Day 2003 is still a little over 25 so I'm happy with that, but just never satisfied. I still need to go down until I can peek over the 140s border into 139-land.

So now I'm eating Special K. Huh???? Well, I have a backache and so I stayed home from work yesterday, sat in the recliner and watched Judge Judy and all her judge pal shows. I saw the commercial for the "Special K Challenge" and thought ... why not? I like Special K, I'll get my required servings of milk in, my one "normal" meal can be a big core meal, and maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones who loses up to six pounds in two weeks! Do you think it's just a ploy for them to sell more cereal? Hmmmm ... Anyhoo, we'll see.

Happy day, everybody!

Hi all,

Vickie thanks so much for the Salmon recipe I made it last night for dinner and it was terrific thanks again. I also had it for lunch. I hope you have a good weigh-in tonight. Have a great day everyone. I'm glad we did not get all the snow that was promised. :)

WWEnthusiast 01-06-2005 04:25 PM

Oh Vickie------ Where are you???? Come out come out where ever you are :-)
All these post and since your last one, and none from you???

Hope you are ok, and it's just that you are busy......
Great post everyone.....and Katpo - you crack me up!!! You are too funny.....
Special K huh!!! I thought the exact same thing (LOL) what the heck, something has to get these extra last lbs off. Let me know, and I will go out and get a box myself this weekend (hahaha)
Talk with you all later........Linda

Vickie 01-06-2005 10:09 PM

Hi Guys! I'm here. I've been out running all day. I slept a little late and it took forever to throw my self on the treadmill. It's so funny to see how many of us are scale "addicts". I do go by my WW scale and weigh in but I have to know how I'm doing during the week. And because my scale is old, it doesn't stay the same as the WW one. It seems to change every week so it make me crazy!

Vermont Kathy, my Leader is the one who talked about losing 10 pounds five times. She said it again tonight and it helps me very much. I, too, have alot more to lose. I don't even let myself think about how many more because it is too overwhelming. So don't think about your 60. Just do 5 or 10 pounds at a time, whatever is doable for you. I agree with Linda that if we all hang together and keep trying to help each other out, we can be successful at this.

Vickie 01-06-2005 10:17 PM

Angela, you made me laugh. You sound like my Niece with her 16 month old and 3 year old. She's ready to go back to work. Your poor baby. I hope her tongue is better. I'm ashamed to say that I laughed. Sounds like something I would have done as a kid!

Kathy, you are a riot! Scale-rider?! New term and very appropriate. Made me LOL!

Mercee, I'm SO happy you liked the salmon. I'm always nervous when I share a recipe that I haven't tried yet. I'll give it a try myself one of these days. Have to wait until hubby isn't around because he hates the smell of fish. We got about 8 inches of snow here which was plenty for me!

Oh Yeah! I forgot to tell you all that my scale budged this morning. I wasn't sure if it was my crazy scale or if it was for real. It was for real! I lost 1.4 tonight. Which means I got off my .4 gain from last week. Woo Hoo! My new total is 23.2. Shootin for the new chickie next week. I think I can...I think I can...I think I can!

By the way, my meeting room was JAMMED tonight. Lots of real inspiring and successful people in my meeting. One lost 65, another 72, and a third lost over 50. They and you all keep me plugging. Talk to you tomorrow!

WWEnthusiast 01-07-2005 06:10 AM

Vickie---CONGRATS on the weight loss!!!!! Whoohoooo!!! That new chickie will rear it's little head next week, that's for sure!! FAB!!!!!
Just wanted to jump on, to see if you posted.....and to see if all was well....I am glad it is......
We can do this everyone......we are a strong unit here, and regardless of what number we need to yet lose we all are struggling but together we can be strong. So whether it's 10 lbs 5 times or 1 lb 10 times etc etc, it's great advise!!! Let's Do It!!
I will write later........till then EVERYONE, have a great day out there....Linda

Frannie57 01-07-2005 09:19 AM

ahh man i hope that my scale will budge. And Kathy I love cereal for lunch and sometimes supper when I absolutely can not even think about cooking........ugh.......

Angela, i understand what it is like to have school cancelled. last january, we had 9 days cancelled in a row........thank goodness tho my young lad was 17 and could look after himself. i had to say awwwwww when i read what your daughter did....sticking her tongue on the grill. i did that when i was about 6 also, but it was on the front door........my parents used hot water to unstick my tongue.....never did that again, ever ever........what a lesson

i think i kinda slipped out of core mode this week. i don't usually have breads but i have had toast 2 times in the morning, i think because it has been so hard to get up and get moving back to work after the holidays. i gotta get in gear again to core core core next week...........hope it doesn't show on the scales too too much.......will find out tonight

well, we have received 5 inches of snow since this morning and more on the way

cheers

Frannie57 01-07-2005 09:45 AM

here i am again, i finished the above post from last night this morning. what a day i had......late getting out of work.......late getting to weigh in.....it was sooooo crowded....all those new year resolutions increased our club by 5 new members last night so i did not get home until about 9. And the great news is, I lost 2.0 pounds..........whhooooohoooo Vickie........you and me.......25 pound total next week.........we are going to do it i just know it........I have 1.4 to go......i am as thrilled as you are. You go girl....My goal for Feb 14 is 10 more pounds because i know i am gonna have some chocolates that day!!!!

out to supper tonight, then a movie, Oceans Tweleve..anyone seen it? then home, busy again tomorrow........rest on Sunday I guess.......the cycle continues.

have a great day everyone, We Can Do It wcdi

Vickie 01-07-2005 12:35 PM

Frannie, sorry to hear that you've slipped a bit on Core. But...I'm real happy to hear that you are back on and had a fabulous loss! Double Woo Hoo! I thought you would be ok, expecially with all that shoveling exercise you get!

I haven't seen Oceans Twelve yet but it is on our list. For some reason hubby and I don't get to the show much. We always plan to go and then never make it. I thought it would be better once I retired but it hasn't happened yet. Let me know if you like it.

I promised myself I would exercise earlier in the day because I've been spending most of my days dreading it. Today I was done walking on the treadmill by 9:00 and I've already watched a rental movie. It wasn't too good but hubby liked it. That's why I'm in here!

Hope you are all having strong Core days. See ya later.

WWEnthusiast 01-07-2005 05:41 PM

Hi All....just a quick note to say that tomorrow (my new week) I am going to do Winning Points and not Core. I will stop by and read the posts though because everyone here is soooooo encouraging, and motivating, but for me, I NEED a change, and I know it, that is why I have been bouncing back and forth. I have been doing Core since Sept and have done WELL but I am kind of Cored out. It has been very good to me though, but with 6-8 lbs to go I am going to make it easy for me where I'll have more of the things I like but making good choices. My goal is to lose this by Valentines Day and I believe Winning Points is the way for me to get there.
I need to make this program change for the good of me. And let's face it, that's why it's called Turnaround, cause we can :-)
Hope none of you mind me still coming here though, this still is the best and most encouraging group.

In case you all want to mix some pts with your Core which we can use our WPA, WW has come out with a GREAT tasting bagel (2 pts) and well worth it.
Have a great day/evening and weigh in out there. I will talk with you all later..Linda

You know what's funny? I remember sticking my tongue on a railing, but I was 11 years old, I think-definitely old enough to know better. And I guess I didn't learn, because I did it more than once. I felt bad that I didn't tell my daughter about the tongue on cold things phenomenon. She must have been so surprised! It's healing nicely now though, and she didn't go to school today with her tongue hanging out. : )

Here's a question for those of you who are close to goal. Are the last 5-10 pounds as hard as they say? I've never actually made it to goal; all the times I've lost weight (got down to 132 last time), I've gotten pregnant before I could finish. I am bound and determined to make it this time. What advice can you all give me for the last stretch? (For when I'm actually there - I've got 25 to go right now.)

Angela

Vickie 01-07-2005 07:31 PM

Linda, you have to do what is go for you and what will work for you. I'd be VERY disappointed if you still didn't come by to chat with us. We can still encourage each other if you are on Flex. Thanks for the tip on the WW bagels. I've been craving a bagel very bad and didn't want to spend alot of points. Do you get them at your grocery store or at your Center?

Angela, so the quest for Scientific knowledge is hereditary in your family! Glad your daughter is doing better.

I've always heard the last 10 pounds are deadly. You can't prove it by me though! I'm sure Linda, Kathy, and Janette can all weigh in on this. No pun intended!

oraki 01-07-2005 08:04 PM

Hello all!! I hope it's okay that I join in here. I'm going to be doing the core program from home. Right now I don't have the money to attend meetings. I've tried doing the points program but I got really tired and frustrated trying to count points all day. I have at least 100 pounds to lose and I know this program will work for me. Hopefully I'll get to the grocery store this weekend to get my kitchen CORE friendly. :-) I hope it's okay to jump right in here!! :-)

aghiowa 01-07-2005 09:25 PM

Welcome! This is a great place to get support. Check out our Core Recipes sub-board for some good food ideas too. Congrats on your losses to date, and I know Core will help you get the rest of the way!
