I agree. Most of my failures in the past started when I began to skip meetings if I thought that I had gained. I would go anyway and consider it a fresh start.

Thank you guys! It's been so hard to go back and start fresh, but I think the best thing to do is to pull out all of my favorite CORE meals and focus on them. I find that I'm burned out with what I have been bringing for lunches and skipping beakfast, b/c I don't like what I have at home. I have been salad girl the last couple of weeks, just with full-fat salad dressing b/c I can't stand fat free. My body obviously had been craving fresh vegetables. Have not had salads in weeks since doing CORE, b/c didn't want to use the points, but I also have not used my oil allowance. Will go to salads chock full of things I love and olive oil, lemon juice or balsalmic vinegar dressing. Crustless pumpkin pie and milk for breakfast, etc. Whatever it takes to make my tummy excited about CORE! Also, with this new year I know that the luck of losing without exercise has run dry. Bought a 6 tape series of TaeBo Ripped, have my Pilates and going to designate lunch time, at least half of it, walking at the park on non-icky days. Did 1.66 miles in 20 minutes last Wednesday. Is anyone else doing Tae Bo or Pilates? I haven't done either in quite a while.

Nope....I'm a treadmill girl. Henry's makes a great brand of FF Honey Dijon. I also love my Mom's Thousand Island Dressing with FF mayo, chili sauce, and hard boiled eggs. I think I put the recipe in our recipe thread.

Good Luck!

Hey, where is everyone! I can't believe that tomorrow is Wednesday already. Scale hasn't budged for me this week even though I'm back to exercising. Bummer....hope it goes down by Thursday night for my weigh in.

Chicago is in for a major snow storm tonight all the way through tomorrow night. 8-12 inches are predicted. This is the first time my retirement is finally paying off. We are snug as bugs and have plenty of good Core food in the cupboards!

Hope everyone is well.

aghiowa 01-05-2005 09:02 AM

Vickie, I'm in eastern Iowa, and we're seeing that storm right now. Schools are closed, roads are covered, but it sure is pretty! I'm glad I went grocery shopping on Monday though. : )

Right now it looks like we have 2-3", but it's supposed to snow all day and night. They're predicting 8-12" here too.

Stay safe, and enjoy the snow!

Angela

Vickie 01-05-2005 09:17 AM

Well, welcome to the Midwest, right Angela! I'm born and raised in Chicago so it's just a fact of life but not having to go to work makes it SO MUCH easier. It was raining here first and snow has switched to all snow. Maybe I won't be able to go to my weigh in tomorrow night!!!!

aghiowa 01-05-2005 10:46 AM

Yes, I've lived here in Iowa all my life, and I'm very used to snow and ice. But I imagine if you moved here from someplace warm, it would be quite a shock! I agree that it's nice when you don't have to go anywhere. I'm home with the kiddos, planning on shoveling the driveway for my exercise while they play in the snow.

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I've posted but I read the boards daily. I see we are all back on track. We survived the holidays. I'm down 24.6 lbs now. (12 weeks) During the holidays I maintained both weeks so I was okay with that. Does anyone have any good recipes for salmon filets? I checked barboskitcken but I didn't see anything I was interested in. I like spicy food alot . Please let me know if you know of any. Have a great day everyone.

Vickie 01-05-2005 11:54 AM

Boy Angela, your kids get to have all the fun! I hope you have some energy left after shoveling to make some snow angels with them. Ours just finally turned to all snow and it's coming down pretty hard. I'm guessing we won't even try to shovel until later.

Mercee, good to hear from you. You are doing fabulous! I'm stuck at 21.8 and I'm worried about tomorrow night. Nothing I can do but to continue to be good. I've been a trifle light on my water so I'm going to try to work on that today.

I found a recipe for Cajun Salmon that sounds really good to me. I haven't tried it myself yet but it is on my list. I'm guessing you could leave out any of the spices that you don't like.

Cajun Salmon

Ingredients
4 Salmon steaks
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon of each salt, thyme, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions
In a small bowl, combine all of the spices. Rub the mixture on both sides of the salmon.

Grill the salmon for 10 to 14 minutes on a medium grill or until fish flakes with a fork.

Mercee 01-05-2005 12:42 PM

Vickie- Thanks so much for the recipe, this sounds like something I would love. I hope all goes well with your weigh-in mine is on Friday. Maybe we will be snowed in. Keep guzzling the water. Have a great day

Frannie57 01-05-2005 02:52 PM

Hey All!! It's been a few days for me too, but I am here....still fighting the fight, both weight and the darn ole flu or whatever it is. I haven't really been on anything program wise....sad but true my friends....I did weigh myself on my WW scale I told you all about and no gain thus far. So I am still minus my 'sick' weight of 5 lbs. I better be good now or ELSE!! I Core, I count points I Core, I count Points, Core, Points. Core etc etc....yes you have all heard my song and dance, well I'm still singing and dancing (LOL) ....I make myself nuts...Now I am in Core mode. I am so impressed with those of you who JUST DO IT...am I the only nut??? (hahaha)
Don't answer that (hahaha)
My biggest problem is night time snack. I guess I could have a smoothie and be good but I always want something I can't have. I will have to work on that. Sometimes I feel Core is just too much for me to handle for a lifestyle change but then Points is just too much of a pain in the neck to keep track.....well weigh in is Saturday for me, so we'll see.
I am happy to see some of our other friends here again, and everyone is doing so well.
Hang in the TXLAWCHIC, you sound just like I feel....:-)
Mercee - fabulous weight loss...Good for you and everyone that is doing so wonderfully.
And to those of us still hanging on in and there...........we can do this!!!!
Talk with you all later....I have lots of questions I'd like to ask about how you all do what you do and handle what you handle, but I just got in and I am a little mentally beat......so tomorrow then, ok........Linda

Vickie 01-05-2005 10:01 PM

Linda, glad to hear you're hanging on to your loss!

Nothing but snow here. My scale still isn't budging. Hard to tell whether it's my defective home scale or I'm not losing. Guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow night.

WWEnthusiast 01-06-2005 06:21 AM

Good "early" morning all.....hope everyone is ok out there. Snow right about now sounds sooo nice....it's hot here, and sometimes even that can be depressing.
I am putting my best Core foot forward today. Vickie don't let that scale get you down, when it's ready your body will let go. I know that we ALL make that blasted scale so important to us. Why we do that I don't know. Go by your WW meeting scale, I just happen to have the New one that is right on with the meeting one, well at least for now. I will see what happens Saturday. It's an everyday battle, a fight to the finish and we have to win it. Once we get where "we" want to be, the fight is still NOT over, then we battle to stay there. That is even harder, believe it or not.
I did manage to lose 15 of the 21 lbs I put back on, over these past few months, but it is not and was not easy. Regardless how much a person has to lose it is still monumental to them. 5 or 10 lbs to someone is like 50 or so to another. Believe me I have been there. It took me a year to lose 55 lbs. We all need to make this a lifetime commitment, we just have to. What is the alternative???? Go back where we were!!! or stay where we are??? Lets be here for each other regardless of our personal or WW goal. We need each other to get through this.
I hope you ALL have a good day and if it weren't for ALL of you, I would NOT be focused AT ALL, so THANK YOU All!! I am going to give this my best shot today and pray that tomorrow goes the same.
So to EVERYONE, hang in there, we're doing fine and we will be successful!!! Let's Do It!!!! Everyone game???? All righty then.....let's go!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay focused, be strong, and let's remember (and that means ME) "it works if you work it"
Till later...........Stay Warm out there.......Linda

fergusonvt 01-06-2005 07:57 AM

I know exactly what you mean by the scale being so important! I still get on the darn thing every morning even though I try not to. Its harder for me to stay off the scale then it is for me to stick to program. I also WI tonight and it doesn't look like the scale has moved although it looked that way the last couple of weeks and I did lose so there is hope. We are expecting some crappy weather today so after WI I'll just go home and cuddle with a bowl of the core chili I made last weekend. I have to get the ingredients again for the crustless pumpkin pie because I am starting to miss it. The first 24 pounds didn't seem that bad but when I start thinking about the next 60 that I have to lose it seems monumental! I think someone on this board posted a quote from their leader which was think of it as losing 10 pounds 5 (in my case 6) times since 10 pounds seems do-able.

Take care and think thin.
Kathy
