What cereal do you eat?

I've been eating shredded wheat - w/ a little splenda sprinkled on top and w/ some sliced bananas. But I'm ready to mix it up a bit.

What other no-sugar cereals are you eating?

Kelly_S 09-27-2004 05:29 PM

I tend to not eat cereals of any kind except on the occasional basis. I usually do a smoothie or 1 point bagel or English Muffin w/jelly or fat-free cream cheese.

I don't normally eat cereal either, I usually have no-fat yoghurt and fruit, though lately I've been adding some to my diet. It's not no sugar though lol. I'll have cornflakes, or sultana bran or things along those lines. My real favorite however is porridge made with water and mixed with grated apple & cinnamon.

I eat cereal as a mid-day snack, not breakfast. I eat Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut with Splends and FF milk.

I hate cereal but I'm trying to eat it because I'm so bored of eggs. I tried fiber 1 today but I didn't see it was made with aspertame when I bought it. those fake sweeteners make me sick. I tried Kashi Good Friends and it was better but not core :(

I've been switching between shredded wheat w/some splenda & fruit, and oatmeal w/a chopped up apple & cinnamon.

I eat the mini shredded wheat, shredded wheat biscuits, puffed wheat or puffed rice,
and oatmeal. As we get into winter, I'll rotate cream of rice and hot farina into the mix. I also like an omelet of egg whites with FF cheese in it. Another favorite omelet is egg whites with cottage cheese in the middle. I sprinkle the cottage cheese FF with a bit of Splenda and cinnamon to make it sweet for a change. When I put fruit on the cereal, I am surprised at how I stay full, especially with a full cup of FF milk on top. Good luck everybody. :grouphug:

I never used to eat cereal. But a friend has me hooked on eating "dry cereal" as a snack. It happens to be very satisfying. Some of my favorites are (and all are low in sugar and calories)

Total Protein
Life
Crispix
Quaker Crunchy corn bran
wheaties
king vitamin
carbwell cinnamon crunch

But remember none of them are Core Foods and you need to count them.

I'm eating 100% bran flakes w/splenda and skim milk for a snack. For breakfast having a smoothie w/milk, tofu, a bit of light cranberry juice, splenda, vanilla extract and no sugar added frozen strawberries and pineapple AND a low-fat whole wheat waffle (1 point).

Spoon-sized Shredded wheat... :)

kll 10-10-2004 07:55 PM

I eat 100% bran flakes (Post brand) with skim milk. To sweeten I add 1/8th tsp. dried fruit (raisins), but the dried fruit does cost me 1 point.

enjoy,
k

I believe that 100% bran flakes contain added sugar (check the nutrition label.) If so, I think they're not Core. :(

Kelly_S 10-11-2004 10:16 AM

Daniel, Post 100% Bran is listed but like you I don't think it is the flakes. It is the sticks.

Hi: I just went to me 1st WW meeting tonight and I'm going to try the Core Program. I hope no one minds if I ask some silly questions!! I love oatmeat for breakfast, so instant oatmeal with skim milk and splenda is a Core breakfast? Thanks, Karen

WaterRat 10-15-2004 03:57 PM

Only the plain instant oatmeal I believe. But let me encourage you to try "real" oatmeal, it's sooo much better imho. :) I put 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats in a bowl, add a little salt, and a cup of water. Nuke it for 2 minutes (your microwave may differ, of course). Let it sit for another minute or so, stir. I like it with fruit, splenda and ff milk. Others I know put sf DaVinci syrup in it.
