Welcome back travellers! I think you guys did great, all things considered. Susie you did awesome if all you got into was a little wine and coffee cake. Danny you controlled the damage and you're back on track quickly-- two big achievements! I find it challenging to travel and eat well. We'll see how I do in October.
Plugging along here. I work from home most Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and core is easier at home. However food is more accessible at home too so I need to watch that. Have a wonderful day all! RobinS |
Well, just back from weigh in.... I'm surprised. I lost .2, not much at all.... but I thought I was going to have a gain and wore "heavier" clothing. The weather has been getting cooler here in the Northeast US and I decided that if I was going to have a gain, anyway, that I would wear a long sleeved shirt and jeans and heavier socks. So, a loss on top of that was a huge surprise.
Now what? I was convinced that, with a gain, I would give up on core. So, here I am totally confused, wondering. Maybe one more week I guess. Linda in NH |
Where did everyone on this thread go?
Linda |
I don't know where they went Linda. I guess nobody needs support any more? I really enjoyed this group! I'm doing ok, but it's still nice to hear how others are managing.

Hi! At least we are here!
Maybe a few of the people have given up trying. I know a few people were really missing their carbs and thinking, seriously, about going back to flex? I am still doing core, but am journalling again and really keeping track. My losses are not as big as some people who have been on core and I keep wondering if it's becuase I was not exercising portion control quite as much as I ought to be. I'm trying really hard! Linda |
i have been all over the map with Core. I had planned on going back on Flex this week, but I kinda started out Coreing...and decided to stick with it for the week. My loss/gain has been wierd. I lost 5 the first week, gained 3.4 the Second and lost 5.8 the third...I think I have become more lax on core so I do think I need the structure

Hi Everyone,
I am happy to see some posts again on this board. Over a week ago I got this terrible cold and have been unable to exercise until yesterday. As a result I was frustrated and used that as an excuse to go overboard on my CORE foods. I feel I am back on track today and hopefully I can lose the couple of pounds I have gained. I do notice one thing for sure if you go off the CORE foods, or eat too many of them, the weight just doesn't budge. I believe I am also going to take advantage of my two-week free on the WW site. Perhaps I can learn some more strategy to keep on going. I most definitely will share any good tips. Thanks to all of you for your support. Nita |
I don't think I"ll lose this week but I also had an out of control day yesterday and I've hit 180 which is a traditional "sticking point" for me. I wonder if part of yesterday isn't self sabotage though. The old, "I don't lose weight at 180 so might as well have a brownie" thing.
I think core is working for me because it virtually eliminates my binge foods. A healthy balance has never really been a problem for me in that I get my fruits and veggies, protein, etc. every day, just tend to way overdo some particular foods if frustrated. I'm not really experiencing overeating on core. I'm eating a lot more fruit but it is still a low calorie substitute for the cookies and bread I was eating before. Animal protein is too expensive to overeat, and I limit my eggs to 3 a week just because. One thing that used to help me in past lives when I did WW was to cut myself up a large bowl of veggies and make some ff sour cream dip. I would tell myself I could eat whatever I wanted once I had eaten the veggies. Have a great weekend, everyone. Robin |
I'd like to join you. I guess a lot of people are going back to flex - which is fine. I never had success with flex - used my points for junk and ended up bingeing all weekend. I feel so much better on Core. Finishing my 4th week today - weigh in is tomorrow. Was down 9.6 as of last week and I think 1 more for this week. I am pleased. The foods are great and I don't miss the junk I was eating. I know I've lost "carb bloat" I had.

Hello everyone.....and welcome Susan.....great weight loss!!!!!
Glad to see you all here again...I was beginning to wonder too. Well I finished my first week of CORE because I promised myself I would. Well to my surprise and astonishment @ w/i DOWN 2 LBS....yep 2 lbs!! I was thrilled. I must admit it wasn't as bad as I thought. I was very much on program and very focused. Made much better choices and felt good. I actually ate my allotted fruit servings in conjuntion with the 8 healthy guide lines. Gala Apples, Red Grapes, and bananas have become good friends of mine. I did not have 1 piece of bread nor did I have my beloved Wow Chips and for dessert (we all know I love dessert) I had a serving of FFSF pudding or a WW smoothie with some milk and a 2tsp of FFSF pudding to thicken it mixed in the blender , like a mousse and I was a happy camper, Mind you I only had a portion of it,not the whole thing. But it was satisfing. I am amazed at how well I did. I am thinking I am going to do this again this week. I had great soups for lunch and Barley has become a good friend of mine too, mixed with ff chicken broth, some cut up chicken, mushrooms, peas and carrots, and some kernel corn, and then a few table spoons of Campbells Green Pea (on Core) to thicken a bit and it was great!! Very fulling. Susan you did great, that is fabulous. I did weigh yesterday which showed a 2.5 loss but today which is w/i day showed a 2 lb loss, so I will go with that. I KNOW I did not eat anything between yesterday and today that I should have not, so I am ok with it. Our bodies flucuate daily so 2 lbs in one week is a good loss....I'll take it!! I am a pts person, but trying CORE and doing it for one solid week just may have changed my prospective, and I think I may have a harder time doing pts after experiencing what I did this week. I learned fruit isnt' so bad after all :-) I just may have become a CORE person and not a PTs person......hhmmm. Let's face it, for us it is a way of life if we want to maintain what we have ALL worked so hard for. Whichever program works for us is what is important. We surely do not want to go back to where we were, after all our hard work. And some of us (like me) fell off the wagon a few pounds and now doing it all over again!! NOT ANY MORE, I am a WW lifetime member and I am going to stay that way. LifeTime at goal, and hopefull next w/i......below. I am 1 lb from WW goal. If I took yesterdays 2.5 figure I'd be .5 from WW goal :-) :-) but I won't (hahahaha) real w/i is today, so I should be fair about it :-) I wish you all continued success this week and I will check back later. All depends though.........as you may or may not know Hurricane Jeanne is NOW coming our way tonite into tomorrow night....promising to bring hurricane force winds and fetebands of rain..its' scary and kind of nerve racking soooo........here we go again!!!!!!!!!! "Talk" to you all later............L.J. Have a GREAT day!!!!!!! Glad to see you all or at least most of us :-) |
Sunny, I hope your enthusiasm is not marred by Hurricane Jeanne! One thing, though, if you lose power and have to eat differently for a few days, you know you can get right back on track afterwards!
I like your soup idea with the barley and split pea soup, I may have to try that! Welcome Susan, I'm a quilter as well. Keeping our hands busy is much better than eating! In fact, I'm "addicted" to my quilting! I am finding that, for me at least, journalling is helping me to be very aware of portion control with Core. I was really letting that "eat til your satisfied" thing make me go a bit overboard. I was eating really healthy, but out of control a bit. I've pulled the reigns back in a bit this way. Yesterday, for lunch, I did have slices of ww lite bread and counted the point. I just felt I needed that bread, it was an emotional need vs. physical, though. We will be eating out tonight, as we traditionally do on Saturday nights and I am still stumped as to a place where I can order a totally Core meal. Just isn't "out there", sadly, at least local to me. That is, unless you go to the really expensive places, and our budget is not going to allow for that right now. I will work out, today and keep my portions more in check and drink extra water today to help counteract the "damage" that might be done this evening. I have also been very stingy on my use of flexpoints, this way I have a fair amount of them to use tonight as well. So good to see some of you back here. If anyone getting discouraged with Core, and ends up going back to Flex, I would appreciate having you stay here on this thread for awhile to talk about what went wrong and if you have MORE success back on points, or if you end up using more Core foods due to the awerness of your health brought on by the Core food list. I am finding so much more awareness of what I was eating that wasn't the best for me. Linda |
I'm still here. Doing Core. I stayed the same this week and that's not a good feeling but I will try harder next week. I used more flex points than usual (had 22 left) but felt like I was watching portions. I really felt like I would have a loss but not to be. I too am a lifetime member of WW and when I get to goal this time I want to stay there.

Hello All! I'm new to this thread but have been lurking on the Core boards for some time. I'm in my third week in Core and am loving it. I have about 150 pounds to lose and have been on every diet imaginable, including Southbeach and WW several times. Core is different and I'm loving it. I don't feel as hungry or deprived. There must be something to the physics of the plan. I lost 1.8 the first week and 4.0 the second week.
I've been exercising 7 days a week but not like a maniac because I'm really out of shape. My current level is 25 minutes a day on the treadmill at 2.0 mph. Just needed to get moving! At my age, or any age, you have to exercise a bit to get your metabolism revved. I've also been cooking alot from the recipe boards. WW recipe board isn't so great but there are a few others. I think I can go the distance with this plan! |
Linda, my husband and I eat out alot. I've been eating really plain meals but at least I still get to go out. I've been making special requests and our little neighborhood restaturants and they have been quite responsive. Most restaurants have olive oil and they are happy to use olive oil instead of butter, etc.
I also carry tupperware containers with me to the restaturants. I have the little midgets, and I fill them with FF salad dressing, FF sour cream, and Smart Balance margarine (this is what I use most of my flext points for!). No one in the restaturants even notices. So I order a salad dry, grilled steak or sirloin burger or fish or pork chop grilled no oil or olive oil, baked potato plain, and side of veggies steamed. Even at the really little restaurants, they almost always have broccoli for their recipes. They are always willing to steam or microwave it for me. They are usually so happy to keep business that they will be accommodating! It's a win win situation. Sometimes I'll have fresh fruit for dessert. I'm willing to do all this for a break from the cooking and for a little variety! |
Vickie, I'm going to try a new approach dining out this evening and see what happens. I'm going to be very strict with my husband in terms of which places I will or will not go to. I'm thinking seafood maybe?
I do have 24 flexpoints left and I get weighed in on Tuesday, so I think I'm going to be ok??? Just finished 40 minutes on the treadmill as well. Lunch will be chick peas, ff cottage cheese and salad (ff dressing) sauteed artichoke hearts, in ww non stick spray. Breakfast was 1/2 C egg beaters with sauteed (in olive oil) peppers, onions, diced tomato with ff cheddar cheese. Also had 12 grapefruilt on the side. Feeling healthy at least. Linda |
