PS.....Anyone have that CORE recipe for Stuffed Peppers.......Thanks........L.J
|
I have only one word-- YUMM!
Curried Couscous 1 1/2 cup water boiled, add 2tsp veggie boullion powder (you could use chicken boullion instead if you want) Set water aside. Chop 1 medium onion. Fry in large pot with 5 tsp oil. Fry well, til onions start browning. Add 1 cup (quick cook) couscous 2 tsp hot curry powder 1/2 tsp tumeric 1/4 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp coriander (my husband leaves out the coriander because he doesn't care for the taste) Stir well til every grain of couscous is coated with oil and spice. Add hot water/ boullion mix, bring to rolling boil for approx 1 minute. Turn off heat and let mixture sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork. Makes approx 5 3/4 cup servings. Each serving will have one tsp of oil. Tastes best if you let it sit for a while. To eat: Use as side dish or I like to mix one serving with half a can of tuna and one large chopped tomato (or 3/4 cup canned tomatoes) for a quick and filling lunch. Bon apetit! Robin |
Hi Everyone,
Sunny -- I did post my recipe for stuffed peppers. I used red peppers and I partially cooked them in the micro before stuffing them. My stuffing consisted of 93% very lean ground pork (you could also used the 93% ground beef); I added one package of instant brown rice; 1 egg; about 1/2 cup ff milk; salt and pepper. I then poured one can of tomato soup over them and added one cup of water. I then baked them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. One thing about them they are excellent heated in the micro the next day or so. Another thing I did different with the Oatmeal bakes--I substituted the egg substitute for two real eggs. Since I am one of those people who can't tolerate Splenda, I used about 6 packets of Equal instead. I just love these because they satisfy my sweet tooth. Thanks again ladies for being here and offering your recipes and tips on how to stay on CORE! I, too, have been telling all my friends how great this new program is and here again--some like it and others need to keep to the journaling. Take care, Nita |
Hi everyone
Thanks Vickie for that great site. I am amazed at how many good recipes there are for core.
Sunny my recipe for stuffed peppers is quite simple too. 6 med green peppers 1 lb extra lean hamburger 1 chopped onion 1/2 cup brown rice ...pre-cooked to make 2 cups cooked rice (we can't get brown instant rice here, at least I couldn't find any) 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce salt and pepper some grated cheese for the topping 16 oz canned tomatoes Mix the raw hamburger with the onion, and cooked rice, S & P and worcestershire sauce and immediately stuff the peppers. Pour the canned tomatoes over the top and bake in a 350 oven for 1 hour. Just before serving sprinkle the cheese and let it melt. I usually use white rice so this was different for me using the brown rice. It gave it a nice flavor. Stuffed peppers freeze really well and taste very good thawed and heated up. Robin that couscous recipe sounds very good. I will try it. :kickcan: see you later. |
Good morning everyone-- hope you're having a great core day! Tomorrow is weigh in, and I need to mentally prepare myself for a slower pace of loss than I experienced my first two Core weeks. My normal pace when I behave well is about 1- 1 1/2 pounds a week, and for the last 2 weeks I lost 2 or more. I have to remind myself that even 1/2 pound a week would be 26 pounds a year which is more than I want to lose! Since I gained most of it 5 pounds a year over many years, I don't know why I expect it to melt off in weeks!
Cheers to all RobinS |
Thank You Nita, Thank you Robin for the recipes....can't wait to try them.
Hello Everyone!! Well as you all know I decided to go CORE this week and yesterday was my first day.......and may I add it was not bad at all. I actually did very well, and for my "beloved" dessert I made CIN's Pumpkin pudding....which was very good. I got another "beloved" dessert recipe from another WW doing CORE with the WW smoothie, cannot wait to try that too.. You see I WAS not willing to give my frozen yogurt 2 or 5 pts depending on what serving I used. Well my friends, I did fine with out it, and NO 1pt breads yesterday either.....whoohoo! I made a promise to myself, to do this for one week solid, and see. If I gain, it WON'T be because I didn't do it exactly right, and then I know it's not for my body. I am being very, very good, as that is the only way I can work my program. I was soooo satisfied yesterday, even had FRUIT!!!! as a midmorning snack, 1 C Red Grapes. I made a great ALL CORE soup that was so good, I even impressed myself :-) I think if I do well I just may be a CORE convert.....With all the good advise and support of this board how can we all not be successful losers......is that an oxy morone (hahaha) Today is day 2 on CORE for me and so far so good. Looking forward to my dinner, which will be Whole Wheat Spagetti, with Doxsee chopped clams and Progresso Store bought,Red Clam sauce, all CORE - I checked it out in the CFC book. I may forego the Red Clam sauce and just do tomato sauce and add some shrimp, but I am so looking forward to dinner. One thing for sure, Core make you stop and think about what you are going to eat, to makes you more aware of making better choices. Again, if I can have my SNACK I am a happy camper!! Robin, great losses so far, and not too worry any loss is good and even a stay the same beats a gain, although that is not what we want to see or hear..Trust me I can relate........so good vibes going out to you......Let us know......... In the meatime, I hope you all have a great day........and I will stop by tomorrow to see everyone..........L.J. |
Good weigh in, lost 2 more pounds so I really AM at 180 again (wedding weight). That means I have lost all the weight I gained since last year this time. It's easy to pork it on sitting and writing and eating chocolate chips *LOL*. Now I will start climbing back down to "below 170," my next minigoal. I have not been below 175 for many years!
Last night I lost it and got into cookies, first time since I started core. What set me off was the old anxiety about work stuff. I don't feel too bad though because this is the first time in 3 weeks that it happened, whereas before it was a daily event. I know that if I'm hungry and feel like binging I need to eat core, core and core and that is that. OK off to the races here! |
Robin,
I am with you, I also went off my CORE program, but I am back with it this morning. I believe I was frustrated because I did not do well in my bowling tournament and, of course, thought food would solve the frustration. It only made me upset with myself. Then I realized this was a one-time occurrence in over 2-1/2 weeks of being on CORE so I should not beat myself up, after all I am only human and mistakes will happen. I still am sold on CORE because it has taken us back to the basics and once we get to our individual goals I believe it will be easier to maintain our losses. It finally cooled down in Phoenix -- it is only going to be 91 degrees today! Take care, Nita |
I hate sodium! But, it's a Love/Hate relationship..... Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I've been a very good girl all week, but I did use almost my entire week's worth of flexpoints on Saturday evening and had Chinese food. Now, my weight is UP and tomorrow I get weighed.
What a jerk I am, I guess. Any ideas on how to flush it out of me in one night? : ) Oh well. Maybe it will do that on it's own. I have worked very hard this week keeping with CORE and watching my portion control, I wonder if this one meal will have blown it for me? No one's fault buy my own, if this is the case. Just sharing the ups and downs..... but we don't like this kind of UP. Linda in NH |
Tonight is my weigh in and guess what I ate for lunch...Buffalo wings...what was I thinking??? I am trying to flush out the sodium with alot of water before 5 pm today! I also ate a nice salad....if that counteracts anything!

Idealperson.... my you are right that the only disability in life is a bad attitude! Maybe a better attitude with make the sodium flush itself out of our respective systems!
I'll be drinking another glass of water and thinking of you! Have to admit that this is probably the first week on ww, since April, that I have been totally on program each and every day, even with the Chinese food (as these flex points were allowed and I used them, shouldn't be such a big deal). So, this gain is a big dissappointment for me. I keep wondering if CORE isn't good for me as I need the portion control more than I think? However, have been eating SO healthy. I will await tomorrow, going off line now to just drink more and more water.... gulp, gulp. Linda in NH |
Pretty confused
I joined last week, and was pretty sure that Core was for me. But this week has been a week of confusion and head scratching. :dizzy: I have, however, eaten healthy and done pretty well on my exercising. I even tried jogging (at midnight on a deserted track). But I don't feel like I've lost any weight this week. I've read my Getting Started booklet several times, I've read posts here and at the Boot Camp Buddy Site, but I just don't get it. I think POINTS will work better in my life. But I'm glad I joined. I need to try a different meeting time though, I sort of stuck out and was VERY uncomfortable. :?: I'm going to waste gas and drive to town twice in one day just so I can go to the earlier meeting. I'm hoping the different set of people (including my sister) will make me feel like this was a good idea and I DO belong.

Hi Mary! I remember you from the Floozies awhile back. We miss you over there! Anyway, I have discovered after about a week on Core, that I need to continue with points. I started really craving carbs and this weekend really proved it when I ate about 10 pieces of lite bread! I started back today on points and feel much more relaxed. I really think that it is a matter of what you feel is best for you. Good luck!

Hi, all. I had been away for a while on a short trip to the west coast.
Sadly, I did not handle myself particularly well. I went way off the program. Still, I can take some comfort from the fact that I still ate MUCH better than I did before starting WW 3 weeks ago. I was up 2 lbs. Now, the key is to get back on track - - I'm not quite there yet. Ok - now I'm there. That was easy. Onward and downward! |
Hey guys - I'm back from the business trip/conferance and feel pretty good about how I did. The only thing that really got to me was I just had to have a small sliver of coffee cake with my eggs each morning. It was a buffet so I was able to cut it paper thin. Might have a gone a little overboard on the wine one night - but i'm okay with that since I got a lot more walking in than I have since my surgery back in early April.
Looks like lots of new faces and posts to catch up on. I breezed through quickly and in the interest of time say Welcome to the Newbies, Congratulations to the Losers, and Good Luck to us all for continued/improved success this week. :hat: Cheers! |
