Daily Thread--October 1-15, 2012
:witch: BOO!!!!
Where did September go? Welcome to October! This is a great day to make progress with our healthy choices--new week, new month. Have a great day, week, month, everyone!! |
Good morning--Sandra, you beat me to the post.
I just heard from a friend who lost 15 pounds in 2 months simply by cutting sugar and carbs, and eating good food the rest of the time. I really wished that doing only that worked for me. Oh well, keep on doing the right thing. |
Good Morning Chicks! Happy October. I think cutting out carbs and sugar would help me a lot. I wish I was willing to make that commitment.
Lots to do today. Gotta make my applesauce and work on my budget. Can you believe after being up since 3:15 with no nap yesterday that I still wasn't ready to go to bed at 11:15? I was up until 12:30 last night. At least I slept until 9:30. Thank God for retirement. I will be eating all Core today. |
I don't eat sugar and not many high carbs, so what can I do to lose a few pounds, other than starve myself?
Why does it have to be so hard? |
Pam...I guess the answer is exercise. It's my biggest problem right now.
|
Our company just left. We had a wonderful visit. They are flying to Montana this Friday. We're going in June, but I'm still jealous.
Let's just keep doing what we know to do that works best for each of us. That's about all we can do. Good success to each of us! |
Had a wonderful 2 day trip to see a good friend who is about to have her first grandchild by her youngest son..We had a baby shower and worked on the nursery last night. Helped the mom to be sort clothes and stuff. Baby boy is due at the end of Nov..
News is that there is an offer coming ..Also considering buying the house I looked at.. Its weird , on the exact same day I am listing questions for owner about house I may buy and I am getting a list of questions from people looking at this house..I have been praying for peace but also prayed for 1 move if possible (instead of moving into temporary place) we shall see !!! The house I like is at 2808 Hiking Trail, Raleigh, NC ..If you type that into a google search you can see the pictures.. I ate terrible all weekend. Nerves I guess... |
Nancy, if adorable is a good word for describing a home then that's what I want to say, "Adorable!"
|
|
Nancy, love the house. Looks perfect for you. Hope you get an offer on your house.
Vickie, I don't like your answer. |
Nancy, the house is great. I hope you get all that you want.
|
Thanks everyone..The street the house is on is busy with walkers on the sidewalk .. I am imagining lemonade or wine on the front porch in the afternoon with friends stopping by ...Its one block from the pool & playground..
I got the offer to buy today and we are countering & counter-countering today...We are close !! I like the negotiating part, so I am relaxed right now.. Actually have a showing at 5:45..so I am busy cleaning the pool.. Vickie..I agree with Pam..can you do some research & find a better answer please :book2: |
Nancy, let us know. Lemonade and wine with friends on the porch sounds good to me.
Day 1 or 4 days subbing this week is complete. The kids are wonderful. Hope they stay that way. |
We sent my final counter offer to buyers tonight at 7 ..We are not far apart and my final offer meets in the middle ..I will hear tomorrow.
The house I like is overpriced for that neighborhood and square footage. So after i have a signed contract on my house we will make an offer for what the price should be . I think they may not come down and if I pay their price I won't be able to resell if needed..So unless I get that house I will do an apartment for now.. |
Good luck Nancy.
I had a good workout yesterday...mostly upper body--3 sets of 10 bench presses at 65 pounds...that is 30 X 65! do the math! I also went swimming. Sore today, but still did some yard work. And, best of all--no pain medication last night. |
good morning chicks.
Rhonda, it's nice to come in here and read that you are back to exercising. I know you are so dedicated. Yah, no pain meds. Nancy, that was quick. Hope you can come to an agreement today. Good luck. Sandra, glad your kiddies are behaving. I might be going shopping with my daughter today. Nothing major. It's sunny and suppose to be a beautiful day. Have a good day. |
Rhonda, I agree with Pam. It's wonderful reading of your exercising again.
Pam, I hope you got to go shopping today. What did you get? The kids are still awesome. You should see me with my welding classes. We have cleaned the shop (They did the work.) and we'll get to watch videos the rest of the week. I'm OP and am so proud of it. |
Sandra, they have Foothills Festival here later in the month. They have a window display contest and we got things for my daughters salon window. They won last year and want to continue the trend. Good for you staying OP. I didn't do too bad today.
|
Pam..how was shopping ??
Sandra..welding class..you are brave!! Rhonda..sounds like great progress is going on.. Where is everyone else?? I have a contract on my house !!!!..Very pleased with final price..I had to be tough today when they tried to counter my final counter.. I said no and 10 minutes later the realtor called and said they agreed to my final price.. Went with a friend & daughter's family to see house I like this afternoon. I am putting in an offer but don't really expect them to come down enough for it to get to the price that my realtor & I think it is worth.. |
Pam, how about photos of the window? We'd love to see it.
:woohoo: Nancy. Keep us posted. |
good job Nancy. That was quick. Hope you can get the other house, but if not, there are plenty more out there. Shopping was fun.
Sandra, I have some sewing to do but will show you all when we get it done. They don't want to display until the day of judging. They want to keep it a secret so someone doesn't copy. We are using some of my things as props, so we will be able to set it up here and then they can do it when we take everything to the salon. As we were shopping, we kept thinking of different things to do and I think it's going to be pretty nice when we are done. |
Congrats, Nancy.
Welding class??? why not! I have been going to the gym throughout this time, except for a few weeks immediately after the surgery. But, it felt better this week. I still can't do much lower body work...just body weight squats. But, it will all come back. I was actually able to wear shoes today other than hiking boots or walking shoes. That's good because I just don't want to wear my hiking boots to the wedding this Saturday. |
Just found out my son dislocated his shoulder while kayaing today.
Same one he did in the spring..Its hard to not be with them when they are hurt..Also scarey because with a shoulder out he can't roll the boat to get out of situations..But thankfully its not worse.. |
Nancy, glad your son is safe.
Rhonda, I didn't realize you'd still been going to the gym. I know you're glad to be back into your old routine as much as possible. Pam, we will wait for those photos. Sorry this is quick. We're heading to M&M. Been a good--OP!--day. |
M&M as in candy?
I just made this cucumber salsa. I used greek nf plain yogurt in place of the sour cream. Ummm, delicious http://pkstaples.blogspot.co.nz/2010...ber-salsa.html |
I eat out alot because its something to do with friends..
Tonight I wasnt even hungry but my cousin and I went to eat so we could come up with a moving plan..I need to find low calorie things to order that are more of a snack.. |
Pam, M&M stands for Mature Members at our church. Don't know where they get the "&" though.
Nancy, if you find something that works, let us know. We are home from M&M. I stayed OP. Now isn't that amazing? Tomorrow is "Rock the Eagles" day at school. I'm going to put together a rock star costume. Gotta go see what I can find. Catch you later. |
Sorry about your son, Nancy. Hopefully, he will heal quickly.
I'm off to a day of family events before tomorrow's wedding (great niece). Have a good day everyone. |
Hi Ladies:)
Have a chance to post before I got out with Rita to our Local restaurant. I had to go to choir practice yesterday. Otherwise nothing new, I'm down to 158 this morning on the scale, hope the scale stays at the # by Saturday. Sorry being MIA & I haven't posting like I used to, I just joined in leading the rosary for one of our local nursing homes, and with the soup kitchen and meeting old & new friends for brunch or lunch I'm kept quite busy. I'm, so blessed to be able to meet more people, but now I don't have time for you guys to post to. SANDRA-Thanks for the new pages,I know can't believe how time is moving on. My DGC turned 12 on the first, and hard to be they are going into the teenage life next year. YIKES!!!! my DD ism going to have her hands full. Where is M&M?????OH GEE!!! Your marvelous taking up[ welding lessons. I would very try it I agree with Rhonda you are brave. RHONDA-Congrats to your friend losing 15 lbs cutting out carbs & sugar. I really believe its the carbs more than the fat. I'm low carbing and fasting two days a week and I'm feeling better with my walking is not bothering my breathing like it used to as I lost my tummy eating that way. VICKIE-I agree, you have to exercise either walking or other activity. PAM-If your watching carbs & sugar you might want to follow a portion control program that WW offers. 1/2 plate veggies 1/4 protein 1/4 carbs. NANCY-Glad that you had a great time at the baby shower. Gee!! I haven't been at a baby show in ages, the last time when my DD was pregnant with my grand son. After I post i will go to the address you posted like to see the house your choosing.Congrats on your closing of your house hope everything goes smoothy.Hope by the time I posting your sons injury will be healed. Have to go have a great day. |
 Maryann, you must think I'm really a character. I'm not taking welding lessons. I'm afraid I'd burn down the building. I was subbing in welding classes. All I did was supervise while they pushed brooms cleaning the shop. Then I showed them some welding videos. (Thank you for the smiles. I needed them.)
Nancy, how is your son? I thought I had asked before but see I hadn't. I apologize. Rhonda, enjoy your time with your family. What are you wearing to the wedding? We went to Cotton Patch Restaurant for dinner this evening. I had fried shrimp and loved every bite. I spent a few WAP's on them, but that's okay. Have a fabulously fun Friday, everyone. |
I am so exhausted...Negotiating on the house I like, keeping my house ready to show(my realtor likes to keep showing until due diligence period is over),
starting to pack & sort for a yard sale, worried about both my boys. One that hurt his shoulder & the other one has bronchitis maybe . Shoulder boy is stable and coming home to see an Orthopedic Specialist next Monday. They like for it to "settle down" as they call it after the injury before being evaluated for surgery. Other had a bad pneumonia in his teens and colds seem to always lead to complications. He is seeing a Dr tomorrow. Both are about 3 hours away in different directions.. Wishing I could bundle them up on the couch & cook soup for them. Found out the house I like isn't likely to happen. I sorta expected that. They have overpriced it and were unwilling to lower it much. So I looked at apartments today and have decided on one I love..It's in my favorite area, roomy & has lots of trees around. It should be a perfect place to rest & regroup while lots of my stuff is in storage. Then I can house shop at leisure.. So now I am pulling things out for a yard sale & starting to pack things that will be stored until I get a house. With the apartment I will be able to rent it a week before my closing so I can begin to set it up early .. Sorry so long , but I am glad I have a better idea of the plan..Things could change with my house sell but I will cross that bridge when I get to it... |
Four two-layer wedding cakes done and ready to deliver tomorrow. Will pipe icing around them when I set them on their stands and garnish them with sugared grapes. The wedding is wine themed. I will also stay and help serve food at the reception to "pay back" the mother of the bride for helping me with my DD's wedding. I have started working with one of our math teachers on my statistics class, and she is really helping me. Hopefully, I will be done with that class in a couple of weeks. Trying to stay on Core, and doing a little better. Licked lots of icing today, but otherwise OP.
Sounds like you have a lot on your mind, Nancy. I know it's hard having your boys so far away when they aren't feeling well. I'll bet they wish you could make them some soup, too! Tell us more about your apartment! Sounds like things are falling in to place :) Sandra, maybe the next time you sub, you can get some pointers from the welding teacher  Rhonda, sounds like your foot is getting a little better. What kind of shoes will you wear to the wedding? Maryann, I am so happy about your weight loss! You are doing great! Send some of that fairy dust to Tennessee! Pam, how are you feeling? Can't wait to see the photos of your newest venture! Hey Vickie! TTFN |
Nancy, you're in a whirlwind all right. I hope your boys get better quickly. Congratulations on finding that apartment. That has to be a huge weight lifted. Things are probably working out for the better for you with that house. Now you have time to look.
Sloan, wish I had some icing. Can you post photos of the cakes? |
Hi Ladies:)
We have a beautiful sunny day a great day for walking but I must take care of my house chores as I was out all week long with all types of activities its almost like going back to be employed but I don't get paid for all that I do. SANDRA-OH!!! You were subbing for a welding class, wonder where I got that idea:idea: I guess I just over read the post and thought that's what your wrote. Glad that I make you guys laugh:D,that's a good thing. NANCY-Sorry about your boys not feeling well and than going though looking a housed and apartments is not a east task either. Sending  that you get though both. SLOAN-Thanks, Will send some :dust: your way. All I do is watch my calories & carbs[high one day low the other etc] and so far it working. Have to go, have a great day |
Maryann, I want to congratulate you for being in the 150's. Please send me some dust, too. I could use it. I keep bouncing back into the 180's.
Curtis just walked in with 6 Hershey's Milk Chocolate bars. I may have to eat a lot of bananas and play a lot of Sudoku. |
3 hours later--1 Hershey's bar left. Did I eat any? (no) Will I eat that last one? (no) I am patting myself on the back.
|
Other boy has pneumonia...sigh
But on a good note I put a depostit on a great apartment and the 3 week count down has begun.. The inspection for my house is Tuesday, so that will be nice to have behind me.. I have about 3 weeks and think I want to focus on yard sale & give away this coming week, then packing & moving storage stuff week 2 and then packing and stuff to apartment week 3. Then I will have a few days to clean the house before closing..I have no idea how people work & move because it is a full time job.. Excited about being in apartment, resting, traveling and having more time for family & friends. |
Nancy, I'm sorry about your son's illness. I hope he gets well quickly. That's good news about your apartment and moving plans. Hang in there.
|
I'll get to everyone soon. Right now, I'm just trying not to get mad about the fact that great niece opened the bottle of nail polish (after I had closed it) and DH knocked it over and spilled it on carpet and it won't all come up. And, I ruined my manicure trying to get the spilled polish off the carpet. OK, I should see this as an opportunity to get the hardwood I wanted, right? Right.
The wedding and reception were great, and I"ll get in a better mood soon. Hang in Nancy... |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Brunch was out today as the other woman were doing something else. No movie today either,so I'm going to ease into a comfy chair and read my book. I really should go down to the beach and walk a little but I tend to be lazy today and want to stay home. SANDRA=Thanks it took me a while to get down there. hope I don't falter around the holiday and go back to my starting weight.Sending some :dust: to you also. That can be tempting when some one else bring the candy or whatever into the house. I need to buy some candy for Halloween as somehow lots of more children moved into the neighborhood. But I'm not going to buy the candy until the very last minute. NANCY-Oh No!!! Hope your son has a mild case and well quickly get better again. Very happy for you that your found your ideal apartment and hopefully that all will go well with your house closing and moving. RHONDA-Accidents will happen, but I'm sorry that your carpet was damaged. There must be a web site that you can go to and look up, what will, take nail polish out of a carpet other than nail polish remover. Have to go,have a great day |
