is this a popularity contest between you & vickie ??? LOL

Tejas 10-03-2011 01:21 PM

I guess so, but I WAS first

Vickie 10-03-2011 03:41 PM

Sorry....guess we were posting at the same time?

Tejas 10-03-2011 05:29 PM

Nah, Vickie, I was FOUR minutes ahead of you  Perhaps my thread just hadn't come up yet.

Only Maryann posted on the other thread, so maybe she'll come here.

nancy237 10-03-2011 05:51 PM

My handyman canceled again, but promises to come in he morning..
I keep arranging my day around him and he cancels..After tomorrow (if he shows) I will find someone new..I have too much to get done to wait weeks for one task & waste my time waiting on someone.

I think handymen are like babysitters..If people have a good one they don't like the word to get out..

ontarget 10-03-2011 05:52 PM

I'm here now. Glad you girls were both here getting things ready for all of us.

I just got back online. Had been off since Thursday evening. Talk about withdrawal! The problem the last 3 weeks was a short in the cable. That's repaired now, so I'm good to surf!

I'm still OP and am off to change my signature thingee. Catch you later!

pam920 10-03-2011 09:38 PM

good evening chicks.

Sandra, i'm really impressed with all the weight you have lost. You are doing great.

Nancy, i hate when people don't show up. They are bad here, they don't even call.

I forgot to weigh this morning and then when I took a shower, i jumped on scale and was down to the original weight when we started this challenge. of course I was butt naked. I have plenty of catching up to do. I'll hold off deleting the cows, until I know for sure the weight is gone.

I am so happy they freed Amanda Knox. That is just so scary how the law works in other countries.

Watching Dancing with the Stars. Have a great evening.

ontarget 10-03-2011 10:12 PM

Thank you, Pam. I am afraid I've eaten too much today even though I stayed on program. Some days are like that.

I'm off here to watch the pilot episode of "Revenge." Have a good evening.

Tejas 10-03-2011 10:24 PM

I have been really struggling this last week with getting back into a good eating routine. The first few days were difficult, then it was better, and the weekend was a disaster. But, today was much better. I think I'm on top of it again.

I also got some very good workout advice from a chiropractor/body builder who is a friend of my trainer and was at the gym when I was working out today. I have some cervical disk issues that have been affecting my deltoid and he had an analysis of what was happening and made some suggestions.

If you're hearing about the chemical fire in Texas---Sandra is closer than I am but neither of us in danger (right, Sandra??)

i can never believe it when people just don't show up. It's happened to me too, and I just don't get it!

I agree about Amanda Knox. Miscarriages of justice happen here too, of course. But, it must be particularly terrifying to be in a foreign country.

pam920 10-03-2011 11:21 PM

Sandra, I watched the first 2 episodes. Had to watch the pilot a couple times. Was confusing me. Some of those girls look exactly alike and I was having trouble deciding who was who.

Rhonda, glad you got some good advice. I admire you for working so hard. When we get to Florida, I'm going to check out this fitness place. I called him. We can get a year for $99 or $40/month. They are running a special in Oct, for their anniversary. I think I need that commitment. We both could lose a good 20 lbs or more.

go tomorrow for my eye exam and new glasses.

jojo23 10-04-2011 04:14 AM

Hello from Cornwall... dull, grey and very windy:^: We are taking refuge in the library.
Like you, we have been following the Knox appeal. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kerchers at this nightmare time.

Vickie 10-04-2011 10:54 AM

Good Morning Chicks!

Have a great day.

ontarget 10-04-2011 11:36 AM

Good morning, Chickies. It's a glorious day here. I am heading outside when I finish this post. My weight is still down today so I'm a happy camper. Had my OP breakfast and am looking forward to the rest of the day. (Can you tell I'm working on having a positive attitude?)

Yesterday I was afraid I'd "Shot myself in the foot." I bought some food bars that are acceptable for my food program. Of course, I couldn't just buy 1 box. I bought 5!!!! Since I'm a food addict, that was a dangerous thing to do. So far, I am managing them. My "habit" seems to have been when I get to my current weight to "blow program" and regain. Please send me some ;)'s. I sooooo want to get into virgin territory and break this cycle.

We've been keeping up with the case also. I can't imagine the terror involved. I've always been a little afraid when traveling in other countries.

Rhonda, Hattie and I went to Cleburne Fitness Center yesterday and are beginning tomorrow. We'll mainly do water exercises. You've inspired me. Thank you. Looks like you've inspired Pam, too. Good success to you, Pam.

That's good that you got to visit with the chiropractor. You got some valuable information.

Nancy, I know your frustration. One of our carpenters wound up being a good friend. Talk about a problem dealing with showing up! It's really hard to deal with when it's a friend. We referred him to some other friends. That was a mistake. Curtis said he will never refer him to anyone else. We've been between a rock and a hard place. I'm surprised we're all still friends.

Rhonda, I hear ya on food struggles. I am either really really "good" or really really "bad." I was talking to a friend the other day about how I've had foods like cauliflower, broccoli, etc.... that have spoiled in the fridge because I was off program. If I'm "indulging," I don't want to waste effort chewing on healthy foods. Seems I save them for when I'm "dieting." And when I get off program, it takes me awhile to get back on track. I have several "drive by" eating attempts. Just don't give up. (I know you won't.) Curtis tells me to remember the progress I've made and remember that most of the time I make good decisions. You do better than I do. Look at your determination. You are amazing. (Can you tell I love you, Cuz?)

The chemical fire yesterday was about 30 or so miles from us as the crow flies, but we were never in any danger from the smoke as the wind was blowing toward the other direction. I have to tell you, though, I teared up when I saw live action on television of the elementary students filing out hand in hand to the buses waiting to evacuate them to a different campus out of harm's way. I was so impressed with the students and teachers. Everyone looked very composed and focused on what to do. I've participated in a bomb scare several years ago and know how they were feeling. I am so proud of them for their response.

JoJo, I hope you get to enjoy some good weather while on your visit. Thank you for popping in to say, "Hi." Did you get to take your doggie with you?

Pam, I'm going to miss BL tonight and will have to catch it tomorrow online. We are going to church for the final interview for our new minister. I am to take his wife and children on a tour of the parsonage. When are you leaving for Florida? That's an excellent price for the health club.

Vickie, looks like you're busy today. I hope all is going well. Do you know when all is expected to be completed? I hope your guys are on track and completion will be soon. Don't let the stress get to you. Will you be getting a whirlpool tub in your new bath? I wish we had one. I miss our hot tub.

I hear Curtis mowing out front. I think I'll go work in rosebeds some. One good thing about our hot dry spell is there's absolute no blackspot on my roses. That said, the bushes still struggled and don't look good. Life goes on even though I cannot (will not?) grow roses like I did in Montana. No more trophy winners for me. Just "color" as they say when the roses don't look good.

Have a good day, everyone. I'll catch ya later.

beach bum 10-04-2011 12:23 PM

Hi Ladies:)

It almost lunch time, just get back from my walking club. We walked for 40 mins along our bike path. I had to stop and sit on the benches along the walk twice not because of pain but shortness of breath. I have no idea why this is happening to me, except it might be allergies,or a sinuses problem. Going to have a check up soon than I will mention it to the doctor.

I posted on Vickie's Thread yesterday, and told you about the movie I saw on Sunday. If you didn't see it I posted that I do recommend that you see Money ball with Brad Pitt. It was a great movie [rated 10 in books] that even the not baseball fans would enjoy.

RHONDA-I found you,and that the reason I don't start new threads as this forum doesn't show if some one start a post or not. Thanks for the new pages.

NANCY-Is that terrible when they make an appointment and than don't show up/ I had that with my fireplace gas insert man to come over and dust and clean out the gas insert. It took 3 x's for him to finally answer my voice mail. Than the final time I told him I was a widow and I was afraid of carbon min oxide [sp] coming out of my fireplace if I didn't have it cleaned. 1/2 hr he called and now coming over on the 14th. Don't like doing that but if it makes them come over why not.

PAM-Sorry about your cows coming off,but you'll do it again just eat what you want but in smaller portions. My sister is a Dancing with the Stars fan I'm not don't like reality shows.

SANDRA-Oh computer problems can be a hassle, TG I don't have to many problems having a MAC.

Have to start my dinner I'm getting hungry have a great day

ontarget 10-04-2011 01:31 PM

Maryann, let us know what you find out from your doctor. My problems weren't because of PC. It was the cable running from the dish receiver to the router. I'm so glad it's repaired. Life is good. My son has a Mac and loves it. That's a good system for sure.

Whatever it takes is what I say. My cousin told me that there is no shame in playing the "widow card" a few times. My luck would be that they woud charge me more LOL.

nancy237 10-04-2011 02:19 PM

The reason old people like myself should not text.

I texted my cousin about the handyman and sent it to the handyman
by mistake . Luckily I just said
"I may regret this but I just hired him to finish the bathroom"
When I talked to him he told me he got it..I told him I said that because she had tried to talk me into her handyman when he canceled twice.

2 or 3 times I have sent a text about one of my kids to that kid instead of my girlfriend.
Luckily those were not hurtful.

I need to stop texting...

ontarget 10-04-2011 02:39 PM

:rofl:Nancy. I knew I liked you. Sounds like something I'd do.

Tejas 10-04-2011 05:16 PM

good one, Nancy.

It is really a generation gap with this texting, isn't it. If it makes you feel better my 20 something great niece sometimes sends me texts that were meant for others. So far, she hasn't embarrassed herself!

Sandra, thanks for the long message earlier. I seem to have the most trouble when I'm at a social event and others are eating and there is a free flow of baked goods. I've managed NOT to buy them, to almost never bake at home although I love baking, etc. I think that this is some kind of phase that is lasting too long. I'm not tempted by pasta, or cheese, or even bread very much....but don't put me in the same room with :cookie:!!

ontarget 10-04-2011 05:46 PM

Rhonda, you're doing a good job what with cutting out buying and baking. Those are huge steps.

Tejas 10-04-2011 07:38 PM

"to almost never bake" what a split infinitive that is!!!

nancy237 10-04-2011 09:12 PM

This is what I am going to try ...Went and got the groceries for this today.

Breakfast
Oatmeal or other healthy cereal with milk & one egg

Lunch
Protein shake with fruit & added fiber

Dinner
Chicken or seafood & veggies/salad

Afternoon & Bedtime Snacks (100 calories)
Nuts/Cheese/Celery & Peanut Butter/Yogurt/Sugar Free Hot Chocolate

I am hoping that by having everything on hand and nothing else
I may stick to it.

Please feel free to give input about changes...

nancy237 10-04-2011 09:14 PM

Rhonda..

Bread is my downfall..And what good is bread without some butter on it ??
Sweets I can do without but bread is hard to resist..

Tejas 10-04-2011 10:42 PM

Nancy, it sounds good. How many calories are you looking at, or are you?

I never got the butter on bread habit, but I also love really good bread.

keeping breakfast & lunch at 300 each, 400 for dinner & 100 cal snacks.

In theory this is 1200 but about 200 more for other stuff like my coffee creamer & wine at night.

Tejas 10-05-2011 09:04 AM

Nancy, I wanted to say something about "healthy cereals." If you read the nutrients you'll see that many of them have very high levels of carbohydrates so those really need to be "counted" during the day.

Also, what protein powder are you using? Some of them have added and unnecessary heavy metals as filler. This was the subject of a Consumers Report article. I use Jay Robb's Whey protein.

beach bum 10-05-2011 09:47 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Cold this morning only 54 degrees, hope it will get warmer as I'm going to Martha's Vineyard for lunch with my friend Rita. I think I going to to upstairs and see what long sleeve or sweat I have for this trip. I know the ferry is going to be cold going over there.

SANDRA-Yes I think one should post what wrong with them just in case someone else needs the same help. Oh happy you computer wasn't the culprit.

NANCY-I think your right we do have to play the widow card.but I'm sure he wouldn't charge you more forcing him to come over.

Have to run,and get ready for today's trip.

good things for me to check. I have been using GNC Optimum Whey but could get something different next time.

Biggest thing I need to do is journal all I eat. Then I can tweak what I am doing if I need to.

I ate some fries yesterday and I was very stiff & achey last night. Made me wonder if it was the potatoes?? Another reason for me to journal is to see if what I am eating is affecting my joints/stiffness. Maybe I am sensitive to the nightshades (potatoes/tomatoes)

ontarget 10-05-2011 05:44 PM

Rhonda, we never use red ink here. Split anything you like.

Nancy and Rhonda, I am enjoying reading what you two are posting.

Nancy, I am journaling my intake, too. That really helps me stay focused.

Maryann, how was your day?

Vickie, how's the landscaping coming?

I just got home from doing water exercises with my gf. We had a great time. Didn't realize how much I missed being in the water. Now I am off here to make dinner.

beach bum 10-06-2011 09:25 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Had a good night sleep no tossing and turning as I put an extra blanket on the bed and I slept like a baby. We had a good time at the Vineyard, but it was cold, wore one of Leo flannel shirts with a blouse underneath, just in case it got warmer I could remove, but the temps and rain started after our lunch and walk so we took the earlier ferry back.

SANDRA-Had a wonderful day over at MV even though it was a little cooler than we thought. Went over on the 12noon Ferries and go back on the 4:45 but when had to wait for the bus at WH which took us home later than expected.

Have to get going as I have another day away from home planned.

Have a great day

ontarget 10-06-2011 01:19 PM

Maryann, sounds like a fun day. Enjoy today, too.

A gf came out this am and we visited and shot some arrows. Others are coming this evening to do the same. Life is good.

Tejas 10-06-2011 08:33 PM

Very busy day: tap practice, yard work, gym, great nieces to Chuckie Cheese :dunno:, now home and very tired.

I'm going to walk the doggie and call it an early night.

Tomorrow I'm starting back to cardio, hoping that the knee will take it.

beach bum 10-07-2011 10:27 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Have Lots & lots of work to do,as I was out of the house for several days doing all sorts of things. Now I have to get back to the reality of house work, but before I do that I have a few errands to, run in the morning.

SANDRA-Thanks,I think I'm having too many days away from home and now everything is piling up. Going to the movies over the weekend. So I must get thing done today.

RHONDA=Be careful with your knee, don't over do it. My knee went out and now my hip is doing the same. Can't exercise like I did before but I'm not giving up just taking it easier.

Have to go as its running late and I have lots to do,have a great day

Tejas 10-07-2011 05:37 PM

Oh well, good intentions pave the road to you know where. Didn't get to gym today because I went to a seminar on nutrition and exercise. After I get the notes together, I'll send you a synopsis.

Off to a First Friday event this evening at the art gallery where I take classes.

ontarget 10-07-2011 05:40 PM

I subbed today. Curtis and I just got home from getting flu shots then having dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Not much else going on. I had a fajita salad minus the shell. No chips.

Vickie 10-08-2011 10:21 AM

Good Morning Chicks! Today is a day at home after a really hectic week. Lots of chores to do but I don't mind so much. Tomorrow should be a really lazy day at home and I'm looking forward to that too.

My toe is healing nicely and I'm just going through the after care drill now of soaking and medicine. I go back to the foot doctor on Monday so she can see how it looks.

Eating is not so good though the volumes are not bad. I do need to stop. I'm going to try to be good as gold until next Tuesday when I'm going for authentic Polish food with my Sister and BIL to celebrate our Mother's birthday. My Mom is no longer alive but my Sister and I celebrate her birthday in some way every year. Mom liked to go out to eat and we are going to one of her favorite restaurants. I plan to start with liver dumpling soup and go on from there. I just realized this morning that the holidays are coming and I need to lose more before the eating time comes. You would think with all the Santas on your profiles I would have remembered the holidays.

What are your weekend plans. Good luck to Sloan today. It's her Daughter's wedding day!

nancy237 10-08-2011 10:33 AM

Thinking of Sloan..Its a gorgeous day here..hope they have the same great weather.

My aunt took a bad fall yesterday and had to have surgery to repair her hard palate and nose. It could have been worse though because she is already coming home today. She will stay with my cousin for as long as she is willing.

My eating is so out of control..My son is home from college and eating favorites seems to be part of his visits ..

When he goes back I am considering replacing meals for a week with shakes and then 2 shakes & healthy dinner and then 1 shake & 2 good meals ..Has anyone had success this way. I think it might help to break my habits and let me learn one meal at a time.

beach bum 10-08-2011 10:44 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Well today I tackling my closets & chest of drawers and get the short sleeve tops and short sets back in the storage bins and the long sleeve tops and pants back in the closets and check of drawers. I'm also going to have my A/C taken down for the season as its getting cooler day by day.

Will post went I have more time

ontarget 10-08-2011 02:49 PM

Thinking of Sloan and wishing her the best of weather and fun today. This is a fantastic time of year for a wedding. I hope Sloan comes back when she gets some time.

Vickie, good for you for taking good care of your toe. I'll bet you're already feeling some relief. Enjoy your time with your sister Tuesday.

Nancy, I did Slim Fast for awhile but wasn't very dedicated. I've also done a doctor prescribed shake with the same results. You have more "to it'ness" than I have.

I have a hummingbird cake in the oven. One of our neighbors passed yesterday. We're taking one layer over for them and keeping the other for Curtis. It smells awesome! I got the recipe off the Duncan Hines website if you're interested.

My weightloss has stalled the last few days. I'm still op--and I'm still sf since June 2010. The weight should start to drop again before too long. (I need to exercise more.) Life goes on.
