AT LEAST DICK TURPIN WORE A MASK
We struggled through the ice and got to the fayre, which was very Christmassy Then we looked at the prices:dizzy: Now, I knit advent calendars. I make 25 3inch high socks in bright Christmassy colours, each one is numbered and strung on a length of ribbon. You can put little toys or sweets in each one. It is a pattern I got from the US. They sell like hot cakes at bazaars and Christmas sales for charity. I can make 10-12 ’socks’ from one large ball of wool ( we call it 100Gms, you go by length, but you get the idea) I use acrylic wool and the most I’ve paid for a ball is £1.29. On one stall they had individual 3inch socks hanging on a little tree and the were charging £3.50 for a sock!! On another stall they were selling diaries which I have seen in pound shops, for £7.50 and on another stall, they were selling hand knitted scarves (acrylic wool again) for £12. Needless to say, there weren’t many people buying. We left after half an hour and went to our shopping centre where the shops were all open, Christmas carols playing and the staff in the shops all dressed in Victorian costume. It was lovely. We got some little pressies for different folk and had a taxi home. Yes, Tejas, the snow and ice in the north and east is dreadful. 10 inches fell last night with more forecast. So far, no one has died. We are so lucky here, to just have the ice. Ironing awaits this morning! Have a good one everybody |
Good Morning!
So I am back to doing Weight Watchers, reluctantly- I am so full of excuses as to why five pounds slowly made its way to 10 pounds, as I pretended the food that I was eating was 0 points or part of the 35 "extra" points I get during the week, or even worse, the three mile run would "take care of that key lime pie, cookies, crackers, half an Italian sub" and guess what? It didn't. But the more I put myself into denial the worse I feel. And my wonderful amazing husband, who took off nearly 80 pounds in a year following the plan, has started to become lazy along with me, and it would break my heart to see him put all that weight back on. So I am back ya'll. Even if 22 points will make my tummy rumble and force me to leave the chocolate cake alone, I am determine to drop these 10 pounds and motivate my husband. *getting off soap box now* Hope everyone has a glorious day! -C |
I just checked the weekly schedule at the ww center near me, and I can get to a meeting tomorrow at 10 am (my planning period at school). I am really looking forward to getting the materials. I am a lifetime member, so I don't pay for missed meetings. I won't go every week but will keep posting with my chickies! Love you all!
|
Good Morning Chicks! Must face the music this morning at the scale. Then all business until Christmas.
Sloan, good luck today. We would miss you so much if you left so am glad to hear you'll stay. We love you too! Angel, welcome back. GREAT for you for not letting yourself stay in denial. My hubby and I are in the same boat.....slipping over the side a bit. He's lost 67 and I've lost 52 but we have been VERY unmotivated lately. He still has 25 pounds to lose and I at least 99. We should NOT be resting on our laurels. Back to work with ALL of us! I, too, read the information on the WW program and am quite interested. I may go to a couple of meetings after the holidays and see what I think. I may go long enough to get the materials. I can't imagine how they will do this now. The slider worked on everything. Will there be a HUGE encyclopedia of foods? One meat might not be equal to another? Quite interesting. Love and light to you all. |
I just lost another very long post...
When I do a long post I am going to do it on Word from now on and cut & paste it. That way I won't lose them . When I was almost done the site flicked off and then it was lost.. I'll repost tonight. |
Nancy that is so frustrating!
I hope ya'll are having a great day. I have been following plan so far and I have not been hungry at all, in fact its strange, I am a teacher and one of my kid's parents gave me a huge box of cookies and I was not even tempted to crack it open, in fact I brought it home and am thinking of re gifting them...individually in pretty paper..hahah is that terrible? Off to the gym tonight....fingers crossed that I can keep up this up! -Chelsea |
Good job, Chelsea!
I gained 1.6 and am definitely going in the wrong direction. On back on track. Channel 9 just did a news report on WW. It must be BIG. |
Welcome back, Chelsea.
Well, I put on a few pounds over the last few weeks, but I think I might have left them on the gym floor this afternoon. I like the new trainer quite a bit; he is very efficient and tells me why certain exercises are done as they are. Good luck to you rejoining or going again to meetings. I won't be doing that...yet  I'm contemplating setting a goal for the next 4 months, but need to do more thinking about it. Even a pound a week off would be good. I might go back to the spinning bikes because it is such a good workout and burns the calories. We're having beautiful weather, after a little cold over the last few days. I have a friend coming from Ottawa to visit form Friday through Tuesday. I've got some house cleaning to do! Of course, both the washing machine and the furnace in the guest part of the house are on the blink. Oh well, there are mechanics around. I hope the rest of you day goes well, everyone. |
Angel,Vickie
DH & I have been lax with our eating also and are getting back on track. I went to the store tonight to get all the stuff for his diet. He does a grocery store version of Nutrisystem.. I do get weary of his cycle of overeating then having to diet.. I guess I do the samething but when I diet the cost isn't 3 times what regular food is. Today I lowered my carbs and did much better at not being so hungry. I had eggs & nuts for breakfast and didn't get hungry for 4-5 hours. |
:welcome: Chelsea. Sounds like your journey is a lot like mine; however, I packed on about 35 pounds. Congratulations on coming back before that happened to you. That's a great idea about regifting the cookies. It's not a bad idea at all.
Sloan, I'm a lifetime member, too. I'm heading back in the AM. I plan to go till I understand new program, and I'll still stay open for subbing on Tuesdays. (After tomorrow!) JoJo, I love reading your posts. I can almost hear your voice. Craft fairs here are also pricey. Guess that's life. Watch out for that ice and stay safe, my friend. Vickie, Curtis and I both have weight to lose, too. He's making mostly healthy choices right now and is still losing. I've been maintaining. It's time for me to get to losing again. I wonder if our local news will talk about WW. Rhonda, your exercise routine will get you where you want to be. Enjoy the weather. We're doing the same. Nancy, be patient with DH. It's good that he's not giving up. (But you already know that.) Guess I can relate with him because I diet/gain/diet/gain/diet/.......... Have a wonderful evening, everyone. I'll be back tomorrow. |
I meant to ask about lifetime status with WW.
What do you do to get that & are meetings free after that?? |
Nancy, I don't know if the rules are still the same; but in 2000 when I got to goal, I had to go through a maintenance program for 6 weeks. At the end of that I got "lifetime" because I was within 2 pounds of goal.
Meetings are free if you're within 2 pounds of goal. You only have to pay when you attend a meeting and then only if you're over 2 pounds above goal. You never have to pay registration fees again. It's well worth it in more ways than one to get to goal. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
I'm back, got in around 4PM after getting lost in Boston. I took the Acela[Amtrak]train to the wrong station and I had to take a taxi to the bus terminal a multiple blocks away, but now I safe and sound back home.Had a wonderful time at my DD's even with the screaming & yelling of the g- kids. Now I can rest and it all begins in two week all over again. GAINED 3 lbs THIS WEEK,SO FOR THIS WHOLE MONTH I LOST 3 LBS. NOT BAD SINCE THERE WAS A THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK Hope you're all fine, and when I get a chance I will read the post later. Have a wonderful day,as I will be busy shopping for groceries, picking up the mail and getting my downstairs bedroom closet done all today.Should be back to normal living by tomorrow or Thursday. |
Good Morning Chicks!
Welcome home, Mary Ann! I'm off to the foot Doctor today. It's a Doctor week.....just tuneups. I'm still on program but it's been hard because I don't really want to be on program. |
I picked up my new program materials today. I'm going home to pour over them. I'll let y'all know what I think later. TTFN
|
I met my cousin this am for coffee & we talked 3 hours...
Did shopping after that, thought I lost my phone in a store and finally found it (after I had Robin call me ) inside my sunglass case in my pocketbook. I had emptied my pocketbook looking but didn't think about looking inside my sunglass case.. No idea who got into my pocketbook and put it in that case :dizzy: I tried very low carb yesterday & today and it is making a big difference in my appetite. Today I grabbed nuts before meeting my cousin and had a cheese stick later and really wasn't starving..Getting ready to have some bean soup I made. I am trying to stay under 1200 but experimenting with what combinations and foods do the best at satisfying me ... I ate 1400 calories Sunday and was starving still. Keeping exactly what I eat written down along with my appetite is helping me see what is working the best. For me it seems to be all about protein !!! |
Sloan, I've been pouring over new materials, too. I'm interested in hearing what you think. I think it's going to suit me fine.
Vickie, I hope your tune ups go well this week. Congrats on being op when you're not wanted to be. That's when it's most difficult. Nancy, last night I put my reading glasses through the wash. What's up with us? Maryann, welcome home. Rhonda, how's your day? I just remembered I still have some passes to the workout pool at Splash Station (old swimming pool in Cleburne). I need to use them (if I can find them). Biggest Loser tonight. Life is good. |
Hey Sandra, I've looked over everything, and I think I'm just gonna have to dive in and give it a go. One thing I plan to do tonight is figure the new points for what I usually eat for breakfast and lunch just to see where I am. I love that the fruit and most veggies are free. I'm also gonna go through the food companion that i bought and find some foods that I would usually eat to see if there are lower point versions. I looked at bread earlier, and a couple of brands are lower in points than the others. I will try to purchase some of those foods this week. Let me know your thoughts, too.
|
Sloan, I jumped in, too. I bought the delux kit and an extra pro points calculator so I'll have one in my purse as well as one in the kitchen. I spent a lot of time tonight looking up pp for restaurants. I am thinking about going through the complete food guide highlighting foods I eat regularly. It's different but not too different. Someone here said "flore" and that seems about right to me.
|
Welcome home Maryann. I've missed you.
How's the new regime going Sloanie? We sat down and wrote our Christmas cards last evening. Well, I say we, Mark just sits there like a typical man! We have 3 piles... mail, boy scouts and by hand. We still have snow and ice. It's not too bad here but in Scotland, the north and east it is dreadful. |
Good Morning Ladies :)
Going to have some kind of a storm brewing some time this afternoon, but I'm not concerned as I did my grocery shopping and don't have to go out. I'm now going to work on Leo's chest of drawers so my moving guys can bring it down to the computer/guest room. I have to move my summer clothes to another location[storage box]that I have up on the loft. Don't want to go down to the basement as I did before except to do the wash & laundry 2 x's a week. Glad that I'm home,I heard that they had a earthquake on the tip of LI but my DD lives in the Middle of Long Island. They felt it more on the Cape near Chatham. Thanks ladies for the welcome home, I really missed you guys also,as my DD didn't let anyone touch her computer,I didn't have the liberty to post. SLOAN-Good luck with the new program, are they really going to change the point system?????Very interesting that fruit are free. They are full of natural sugars. Are they using the Glycemic Index????? NANCY-How low on the carbs are you going?????Asking because I'm doing low carbing also, but I not as extreme as you are I m still eating starchy veggies, whole wheat pasta, brown rice & grains. I switched to cocktail breads for sandwiches. JOJO-That's what I have to do is start my Christmas cards I finding that i don't have time for time now that I trying to get my bedroom ready before I go down to my DD's again and ready for surgery. Have a great day |
Good Morning Chicks! I had a good on program day yesterday and so far so good. Doctor appointment went ok. We are going to try to put the tree up today and see how Brodie does with it. I'm a little nervous.
It's snowing and Brodie is loving his first snow. He's trying to eat everything in the yard. Silly pup! Stay safe everyone. |
Maryann...
I am sorta experimenting with how carbs are affecting my appetite. Trying to figure out the effect of which carbs and when I eat them. It seems even if I have ww bread & fruit with my eggs in the am that I am hungrier all day. I did really well yesterday with almost no carbs until dinner time . Then I had 2 servings of bean soup & a fruit. On my last physical my Dr said my fasting blood sugar is creeping up and losing weight would help it not continue up. I wonder if that is why the carbs make me so hungry?? |
Nancy, check out the PM is sent you.
Sandra, we are having all kinds of "Christmas" breakfast goodies every Tuesday here at school from now until the break. I decided to have goodies on those days and then follow the suggestions in the book about the number of points for lunch and dinner. On the other days I will follow the plan. My goal is to at least stay the same until January 1 then hit it hard. I would like to be back to goal by summer break. You would think with aprox. ten pounds to lose that this will be an easy task, but it won't. I have been fighting that same ten pounds, albeit half-heartedly, for the past year. How are you doing, so far? Hey to the rest of you chickies, I'm at school, so I need to get off here. I'll check in later. TTFN |
Sloan, so did you get the new materials? How does one calculate foods? Is there still a slider?
|
Vickie,
I got the materials. There is no slider. You have to get the little calculator thingie. The points are a little higher for some foods. That's why the points allowance has gone up. I get 29 daily points and 40 something weekly. I figured up my normal breakfast, and it went from 5 points to 7 points. The program basics are the same. They have just adjusted the points to make the less healthy foods higher in points and the more healthy foods have only gone up a little. I'll have to let you know more after I have been following it for awhile, but I really think it's gonna be good. |
Hi there. We've been outside most of the day cleaning flowerbeds, etc..... We had a man here doing most of the work. I was mainly pulling out morning glory vines and pruning rosebushes. He honestly did almost all the hard work.
Today is my 2nd day on new program--and I'm loving it. I made spaghetti for lunch and have been snacking on bananas. (monkey in me) Tonight I may have a ham sandwich. I'm not sure yet. I'm also Day 176 sugar-free. JoJo, we're not going to send cards this Christmas but may send cards later on. Not sure yet. Maryann, it's good to have you home. Vickie, I remember one year---kitten + Christmas tree = disaster. I hope Brodie gets along with your tree. I'll bet he's a little doll eating that snow. Makes me smile. Sloan, I'm doing well. I had a ham foldover sandwich for bfast today. Cheerios tomorrow. It is taking a little getting used to learning the new points. I'm subbing the next 2 days. That will be a test but I think I'll do all right. Being sugar-free so long is helping. (so far) Nancy, your doctor would like me at all if he's fussing you for being overweight. I hope cutting down on carbs will help you with your blood sugar. |
Look at the mistake I made when I updated my profile weight.
I just noticed it today. Start weight 150 Current weight 1148 Goal weight 130 Boy I am glad that isn't right... I am down to 146 today !!! |
One hour workout with the new trainer :faint:
|
Last week, my husband had the all clear from the cardiologist and was told they didn’t want to see him again for a year. Yesterday, we had a phone call that there was an irregularity on one of his blood results and he has to go back this morning. That’s all they told him! Consequently the both of us are very worried and no doubt, his B/P is sky high! Why on earth couldn’t they have told him more?
|
Good Morning Ladies:)
Had a very productive day yesterday,I got all of Leo's chest of drawers emptied ,and now today I will put some of my winter clothes from my closet into the drawers for next Wednesday's Move. Quote:
VICKIE-I'm not ready for snow, just keep in in your area, and if not just give us a little dusting. Oh I remember well when I was young my dog loved the snow and once disappeared for a day and 1/2 before she came back home. SLOAN-I knew that this would come up at WW with there point system I couldn't see that a snack and healthy foods were the same points now they leaning on the healthier foods[including fruit] at lower and unhealthy higher. It going to make sense now,as the point system & the core didn't work for me in 26 weeks so that's the reason I dropped WW. SANDRA-Thanks for the welcome back.I had my front garden worked over this fall and the professional did a wonderful job.I was so pleased i going to use him every year. JOJO-Sorry that you had to hear, about your DH but glad that they found it right away. Hope all works out for you before the holidays come. I have to go,and get started on today's chores |
Jo Jo
:grouphug: Your on my mind... Let us know what the Dr said today when you went back today... Hoping it is something small... |
I wonder just how many points are in 3/4 of a guacamole hamburger and a glass of merlot? Probably a day's worth, and I enjoyed every one of them!
|
JoJo, I hope you and Mark get the best news possible. I know you both must be very frightened.
I don't have time to post now. I'll be back tomorrow. Night night. |
Thanks girls, this forum really does have the nicest people on it. Well, we struggled though the snow…. I felt like Nanook of the North! We got there are Mark was seen straight away. It was the potassium level that was , I quote: ‘On the high side of normal’ I suddenly had a brainwave. Now and again, roughly every 10 years or so, my brain functions as normal. Since Mark gave up smoking he loves oranges, particularly those little sweet Clementine ones, which, I suddenly remembered, are high in potassium. I mentioned this to the team and there was a sigh of relief all round. The oranges were the culprit. I am now rationing his orange and banana intake. More blood will be taken on Monday, but they said not to worry.
|
JoJo, that is fantastic news. What a relief that had to be for both of you. Thank you for letting us know. And also, thank you for the warning about eating too much potassium rich foods.
I'm off to school this AM. My lunch is packed. Ya'll have great day. Oh, yes! The school where I am subbing is playing in the State Semi-finals tonight. If they win, they'll play for the state championship next week. If It's Texas--It Must Be Football! (Title of a book Curtis thought about writing.) I can't tell you what the excitement will be like today. It's going to be awesome. I used to be varsity cheerleader sponsor. I get rally caught up with the hoopla. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Had another productive day made myself 3 portions of beef stew.Today I'm going to make 4 mini meat loaves. This way I have a head start with leftovers when my surgery is at hand. Going out with my friend Mary for Pizza tonight,no movies this time as nothing is worth watching. JOJO=That's interesting about oranges & bananas,I never thought that oranges had potassium in them I thought it was a Vit C fruit. I knew that bananas & strawberries are high in potassium but never oranges,I wondering if it also pertains to OJ. Luckily you had a brainstorm and were able to discuss this with the doctors. SANDRA-Have a wonderful day and have fun at the football game hope the win. I have to go,as I have a lots of chores before I go out to the pizza parlor. Have a great day |
That's good news, Jojo. What a relief for the two of you. You'd be surprised how many foods have a lot of potassium in them. I know about this only because I have a close friend who has to monitor his potassium intake and is really limited in the veggies that he can eat.
So, my indulgences yesterday added TWO pounds! Cute, really cute. Now to drink that water! Sandra, go team go. I rarely watch football because when I do I turn into a homicidal maniac  |
JoJo...what a relief to find out that is what they found !!
I have the opposite problem..I have to take Pot supplements because I take a diuretic for blood pressure.. All the extra peeing deletes pot levels...That makes me wonder if drinking extra water would bring down the level. |
Maryann..
about the carbs..cutting them out has made all the difference in the world with my appetite. This whole week I have been keeping the carbs as low as possible during the day and then having a few more at night. If I have eggs and nuts for breakfast I am full for 4 hours.. You know how usually I struggle weeks to see 1 pound loss- well this week I have lost 3 pounds since Monday and 5 pounds since last week. I know a lot is water weight loss because when I started this diet I was bloated and yucky feeling. I am pretty pumped that I found a way to not be hungry because my will power is non existent when I am hungry...Diets are easy if we're not hungry aren't they!! |
