  • Maryann, I've had those shots and they usually work wonders. I hope yours does. Now get some rest.

My gf and I shot over 2 hours today. I'm sunburned and tired but am feeling pretty confident in my progress. Looks like we'll just snack for dinner. I'm even hungry for grapes and a banana.
  • Sunburn Sandra... sunburn? What's that? We have murky misty mornings or bright frosty ones at the moment. Scotland is expecting snow

Now Maryann Just you promise me, no jogging love until the pain has gone. How are you? I know how pain can pull you down.

Mark has found a book listing and mapping walks around our city and county. He thinks it will help me shift the weight. The walks range from 3 miles to 8. We used to be great ones for walking, but since this weight gain and the pain in my joints we have let it slide. So we are starting off with a 3 miler around the city, if I'm in too much pain we can call a cab

Our wardrobes (clothes closets) are over 30 years old, big and cumbersome. I have to wait in this morning because we have bought 2 new ones. Light oak, integral drawers and much nicer. They will make our bedroom much more light and airy, and maybe help us sell

    Hang in there everyone.
  • Good Morning (or afternoon across the pond)

I'm back to tracking food on fitday.com, after having taken a break while on vacation. I notice that it does matter to me if I write down what I eat. It's easy to forget when I don't.

This morning I start my additional tap classes, in preparation for the December 2nd performance at the county court house for the Christmas tree lighting. Can a black satin jacket with "Syncopated Ladies" be far behind?

I finished my stained glass project yesterday and think that I am now ready to start creating the mosaic piece I'm going to do on my kitchen back splash. We shall see. I'll post a picture of the stained glass soon.

I hope you all have a great day.

    Rhonda
  • Good Morning Ladies

My knee it is lot better today I have no pain, but the doctor wants me to continue to wear a brace. I really feel bad not being able to go on my walking tour this morning. I miss the ladies that I met and the talks about the area we are walking.Hope I will be able to meet with them again. While I was positing, the hospital called & my MRI is scheduled on Monday 4:40 in the afternoon.

As far as the diet is going I can't seem to get out of the 168-170 group on the scale. Have been shopping in a while and i don't have junk-y food around so why do the #'s going up. Its really puzzling. Jillian & Bob on the B/L told us to eat portion sizes I do that will 3 section plates and I still can't lose.

RHONDA-It did hurt and I had no relieve until I had the cortisone shot, but I still have to wear a softer brace than the hospital gave me . I'm returning it this morning as I don't want to pay for it.

Yes, my kids still think I'm at child and I can't take care of myself. so that's the reason I don't tell them anything. They feel if I come back to NY they would be there for me,but I wouldn't be able to afford living need them,as it VERY EXPENSIVE THERE. The only thing I could afford on Long Island would be 2 hrs away and they wouldn't come of I called.

SANDRA-I have wonderful friends up here my friend Alice took me to the ER and to the doctors when I called.I'm so blessed to have her. I in return will take her out to a good restaurant. All expenses paid. My other friend is having problem with her DH health right now,and the other two are doing family things. If I need help I will to hire a cleaning lady a couple days as week, than I can go on line and order my groceries from Stop & shop, but right now I feel like doing it myself.

JOJO- Thanks, I promise,I think once I have my MRI and the doctors know whats wrong with the knee and fix it I will be able to walking again with my walking friends.

    Have a great day
  • JoJo, we're having warm, sunshiney days right now. "Indian Summer" I guess My gf and I will be outside again tomorrow afternoon and we'll prob get a little more burn, but that's all right. We won't get that opportunity much longer. Your walking plans sound good. Curtis and I have been walking around our acreage. He is keeping a path mowed around 3+ acres. We have been aiming for 1 loop a day except for days but haven't stuck to it yet.

Rhonda, I am e'ing my daily food to my sponsor now (as of 2 days ago) and am already seeing how that helps keep me on track. So your first performance is Dec 2? That's coming up pretty soon. You need to get your black satin jacket ordered. You're having a great deal of fun and are a poster child or retirement. Life is good.

Maryann, it sounds like you have a good plan and a lot of friends. You probably have more help available on the Cape than you would in NY.

I got my nails done today and am now taking it easy. Ya'll have a good evening. I'll be back tomorrow.
  • So, writing the food consumption again has been helpful. It gives much more control, even if it is tedious.

I went to the gym and lifted weights. I also went to drawing class and made a little breakthrough. For the first time in weeks I thought "I can do this."

    All is well here.

Maryann, I bet your buddies are missing you too. Hopefully, you'll be back at it soon.

    'night all,
    Rhonda
  • I'm glad the knee is on the mend Maryann. I bet you miss being out and about.
    Another chilly morning here.
I'm going to see a friend today, she had a hysterectomy on Friday and was discharged home on Monday. She's feeling very down.
    Have a good one everybody.
  • Does anyone like treasure maps??
There is a lady in our town that
puts out treasure maps on each Equinox
that lead to a hidden key. The finder of that key gets a piece of her
    handcrafted beautiful jewelry.

If you Google Raleigh Treasure Hunt, her site is the first to come up I think.
Her name is Lillian Jones and her site is called the Enamellist because
she uses enamel in her jewelry.

I have a friend that has done a few of her maps with me and they are so much fun. DH thinks we have lost our minds because it gets a bit addictive.

If anyone is interested let me know and I'll tell you some of the clues we think we have found.
  • Hi Ladies

Got up late this morning, after going to bed late. My knee is not hurting anymore but I'm still going to keep wearing my brace on for another day or two.

Have to to to Walmart and get some Halloween cards for my DGC. Going to give them money instead of candy as the twins have braces and the other two don't need it.

Made some roasted veggies from the first SBD book had some in the evening while watching tv, maybe that the way to go,now that I a fateful listener to the Dr Oz show and what he says about all products out there that aren't good or could be killers to your system. Have to go to his web site and bring back the article.

SANDRA-I love my friends up here and the locals are so friendly, that why I love living in a small town USA. If I started to talk to a stranger in NY they would think I had 3 heads. All the good friends that I made thought the years in NY are all gone to different parts of the country.Too Expensive to live there.

RHONDA-I'm going to try to get back to my Walking Group for our next walk, next Wednesday.I met one woman in our group and she told me that another woman has knee problems also.

JOJO-My knee doesn't hurt anymore I guess it was the cortisone shot that helped. I have been going out to the grocery store and than Walmart this morning. I also had a chance to go down to the beach where I sat on a bench watching the waves rolling in and crashing along the shore. I love that sound. That another reason I won't leave the Cape.Hope you friend mends from the hysterectomy. I decided to start driving too early and my bladder fell.So she should be careful.I sure you could cheer her up as from your post you sound like you have a great personality.

NANCY-I never got involved in a treasure map.WoW that sound like fun. Have you ever won any of her jewelery????

Have to go and get my chores done for this afternoon
  • Maryann, we live in a rural area so I am with you on small town USA. I thoroughly enjoy running into folks I know when I'm out shopping.

Rhonda, it does take time to journal, doesn't it? I'm glad I'm doing it cuz it's making me think twice before I take the bite.

I made a WW chicken cordon bleu (sp?) today. It was delicious. I got the recipe from a good friend in Canada. It was easy, too.

Nancy, the treasure hunt sounds like fun but I guess I'll pass for now. Let us know if you win any jewelry.

    Vickie? I miss you.

Today is Day 135 and I'm going strong. Tomorrow I sub so it should be an easy day as well. Parties and recitals Saturday then our usual church stuff Sunday. I'm baking a sf cake/icing Monday for Men's Discipleship--and I'm planning to have a slice myself. I can't remember when my last planned "sweet treat" was. Before I went "sugar free", I was having sweets as often and as much as I wanted. This planned "slice" is exciting. I'm looking forward to it--and if I can't limit myself to 1 slice, I won't bake any more for a long long time.
  • Glad to hear about the knee Maryann There's nothing worse than pain you can't get away from is there? You move in bed and it wakes you up.

I looked at the link Nancy I'd love to have a go with you. The past winners looked fun people too.Keep us up to speed on your progress.

I doubt I'll have a big loss this week. As I said yesterday,I went to see my old friend who is just out of hospital. Someone had sent her a huge box of handmade Belgian chocolates (pause while I wipe the dribble off the keyboard) I only had a couple, but they were ginormous and very rich.

How's the weather in Texas Sandra?
  • Hi Ladies

Couldn't believe the temps this morning when I got up it was 44%,and with the wind howling. Thought I missed Halloween.

Just go finished with my chores for the day,so now I taking time to sit down and relax.

At noon I went to our local senior citizen center for an October fest celebration where they served bratwurst/or knackwurst on a hot dog bun potato salad and apple cider. Met some nice woman there, where we exchanged names & phone #s . So we can keep in touch and have a cup of coffee now and then. One of the woman lived in the same town as I did when growing up in the city.So now that makes 5 woman in the last 2 months that came from the same area as I did in NY. How's that for a coincidence????

Tomorrow Alice & I are going out for dinner,in one of our locate landmark restaurants. It seem that when our town was in battle with the British this restaurant was in the middle of the fight and has a cannon ball in the men's room wall. Exciting to live a place with such history.

SANDRA-I met two woman at the center to today and we exchanged phone#'s It might turn out fine and than that's how you make new friends in a small town.

JOJO-Thanks,My knee is not hurting anymore now that I had a cortisone shot. Hope this MRI this Monday doesn't show a tear anywhere and I be bake on my walking tour again.

Have a nice evening and I see you guys tomorrow
  • JoJo, we had gorgeous weather today with highs in the 80's. I was subbing and wasn't able to be outside soaking up sun, but that's all right. I had a good time with the kids. My brother used to live in Belgium. I developed a taste for those chocolates--and I developed it very fast! I'm on day 136 sugar free and am planning to have a sugarfree devils food cake/sf chocolate frosting Monday. This will be a test to see if I can eat "just one" piece.

Maryann, I love reading about your adventures in the Cape. Yes, that's how to make new friend for sure. Have fun, my friend.

Curtis and I are going out to lunch tomorrow after our grand's piano recital. Tomorrow evening we're going to a graduation party for the wife of on of my ex-students. She just received her LVN license.

Got to go cheer on the Texas Rangers. I'll catch you later.
  • Hi chickies. Been really busy since my husband arrived.

jojo, hope your friend has a speedy recovery. There is a smudge of chocolate on your upper lip, lol.

Rhonda, hubba, hubba. I wish I had a personal trainer.

Sandra, we have been having beautiful weather too. Humidy is low, temps in low 80's, just perfect.

Maryann, so glad the shot has helped you. They did nothing for me. You still should not overdo it until you see your dr. Sounds like a nice place to live. Glad you have many friends.

Nancy, my weight slowly starting creeping up. I was at 146 and was fine with that. Now I'm at 172 and can't seem to get into the 160's. I think I eat the right foods, just too much of it.

I love Dr. Oz. I dvr him everyday. A food log would probably be helpful.

Well, it's getting late. I'll try to check in more often. Night all
  • Pam, my weight crept back up, too, when we moved to Texas back in 07. For over a year Curtis and I ate like we were on vacation. (Doesn't work!)
