  • I don't think I would still be on this forum if it wasn't for this thread. I love it.
I'm not weighing until I go to my group at the end of the week. I don't feel as if I have gained on my week's holiday but if I have, it was worth it and I'll soon shift it.
Nancy I know exactly how you feel. I've lost my mojo many times. I lose the weight, and then it goes back on. Hang in there.
Have a good day everyone. It's great to be talking to you all again
  • I was 143 this am ...
I must have had a ton of salt & water build up from eating bad...

Once I hit 140 I am going to balance out my diet with core foods.

All winter Robin has been unable to do much and I was getting lots done ..
It's weird now because he is able to stay busy all day (praise the Lord )
and I am in a time wasting rut..... It makes me feel guilty when he comes through the house and I am still in PJ's at 11 am.
  • JoJo.... I love your mojo saying !!!!

JoJo has her mojo back ~!!!

That will be in my head all day
  • Hello Chicks! So much going on here....nothing life threatening but too much too handle and spend any kind of quality time on the computer. Jim is at his first PT appointment for both shoulders today. The car (our only car) is acting up and we've had it in the shop twice in the last two weeks. It goes in again tomorrow as it is now shuddering and not wanting to accelerate. Frustrating and time consuming. I'm getting over a bad cold and nursing my sciatica again. I'm close to asking my Doc for a referral to PT as I cannot seem to get it to go away and stay away. Brodie is great (getting over giardia) and enrolled in his next obedience class. We are babysitting in among everything else. Thank goodness we are retired.

My eating is not great. We've been going to restaurants. I've been trying to keep my portions small. I gained at JC the last two weeks, a total of 1.4 pounds. This week I have my usual dinner out in addition to a special lunch and another ballgame. It's tough but I know I must learn how to manage. Exercise is not going well because of the sciatica. I intend to start losing again and soon.

You are all awesome and I read when I can. I hope to get back here on a more regular basis very, very soon.
  • Vickie, it's great to see you here. I was worried, my friend. My pain management doctor sent me to PT for my back and it's helped (along with the injections). I wish you both the speediest full recoveries.

I am off my honeymoon with my new (3 days) eating plan. I'm now back to eating the way I have the last 90+ days. And I'm now on Day 113 sugarfree. It sounds funny but I had problems cutting down to 1 fruit a day. I'm a fruitful person.

JoJo with her MoJo? I'm loving it and loving her, too. JoJo your wit is fabulous.

Rhonda, how's your day going? Now that you're in rehearsals, I'm betting you're busier than usual. We have 15 rehearsals for the Christmas play every Sunday afternoon till early in December. I'm not directing. They already have a director. I'm sort of a trouble shooter and will be working with some of the cast members to help them project, etc......

Nancy, I'm sending you for weightloss success.
  • Good evening. We are leaving on Sunday for Florida and I'm trying to get my house in order before we leave. My husband is visiting his parents until Friday. Yesterday I felt like I had narcolepsy. I could not keep my eyes open. Today has been much better. I got quite a bit done today. Not much left to do. We will be in Florida until next Spring. I'm looking forward to going. My sis lives 1 mile from us and I'll get to see her everyday. I am recruiting her to walk with me. I will walk to her house and then she can walk back to my place with me and I'll drive her back home.

I feel so out of the loop. Sandra, I remember you love archery. My memory is so bad these days.

Nancy, I would love to see 140 again, but the lowest I could ever get was 146. I felt great at that weight so that is my goal right now.

Survivor is coming on so I guess I'll get off here.
  • I'm not in rehearsals yet, Sandra. So far, it's just a promise.

But, here's news. I leg pressed 500 pounds, 3 sets of 6 reps each!

Vicki, great to see you back here.

Nancy, I know the frustration. My weight is beginnning to move back down and I think it's about keeping fat down to 30 grams a day, if not less.

    Have a good night all.
  • I looked at that link Tejas. They are a great group, have you heard anything yet? We had a dance group here a few years ago called the Rollypollys because they were all over 60 and a bit on the portly side. They were very, very popular. Although I can't dance (when I was a small child my mum sent me to ballet classes. The teacher gave her her money back after a few weeks, and told her to stop flogging a dead horse) I have always loved tap. I envy you being able to dance.

Vickie Oh love, I do feel for you. I had sciatica 20 years ago. I had a 'ball' of pain, the size of an orange settle in my left calf and the pain in the leg was truly awful. An osteopath sorted me out, put the disc back in and I was right as rain. I still see her once a year for a 'going over'

    Sandra
I don't know how you and Rhonda do it. I am so in awe of the two of you. You lead such busy lives.

Going to visit my mum this morning. I haven't seen her for a few days and she likes using me for target practice. This dementia is such a cruel thing. She used to be so proud of me, it was embarrassing. She had all my nursing qualifications framed and hanging in the sitting room. Now when she sees me she says 'Oh its you again is it?' Some of the senior staff at the home are ones she trained and they find it very hard to see this nasty woman in her body.
  • Oh my, Jojo. That's so hard about your Mum. My former mother-in-law in Toronto has dementia and can be really nasty also. It's awful to see this persona in her body.

I LOVE to dance, anywhere, anytime. Unfortunately my DH does not, and it hurts his hip. I haven't yet gone to dances alone at the senior center, but I will. They have a system for unescorted women. The women who want to dance but haven't brought a partner wear a bracelet that signifies that they want to dance. I can hardly wait. DH said "they'll have to give you an armful of bracelets." I think it was meant as a compliment

Pam, good luck with the packing and have a good trip.

    Talk to you all later!
  • Good Morning Ladies

I'm have a few minutes before I have to to bible study,Its our last study and I'm going to miss the people that I studied with them for the last 12 weeks.
The bible study will start over again right after the holidays. Now I going to sign up for Tai gei or yoga to keep my shoulder/neck area stretched,so I don't get the pain back again.

Nothing new, I walked with the walking tour along the CC Canal for 60 mins and than I to my friends house of our Canasta game. We decided instead of one week a month we going for every other week.

Sloane-We have wonderful beach weather yesterday I had to take a pair of shorts out for the walk, today its getting cooler as we had some rain last night.

SANDRA-I learned in my old age not to let people walk all over me. I got rid of the woman that was bothering me,and now the choir members are going to do the same.

JOJO-One step at a time Don't blame you for not looking at the scale It used to change my mood when going on it but I learned that it just a number. Here's to a good W-I when you meet your group. Love this thread also,as the people make up the pro & cons.

VICKIE-Glad to see you posting again I see you got a lot on your plate, try to relax & take on day at a time.

PAM-Have a great winter in Fla.My sister goes down after Christmas and stays for a couple of months. Are you going to post while in Fla.????

RHONDA-WOW big congrats on pressing a 500 lb.You're amazing. I would never to be able to do that.

Have to go will be back later
  • Whew!!!!! I've been chasing grasshoppers. Really. The granddaughters were here this afternoon fishing with grasshoppers. We all had a blast and caught over 20 fish. We probably caught the same ones several times. After the girls left, Curtis said, "Now that's the reason we have the pond."

Pam, what part of Florida will you be staying. We have friends who stay in Idaho in the summer and Florida in the winter. We used to alternate between Montana and Texas till we made our permanent move back to Texas. I'm glad you'll be near your sister. Life is good.

Rhonda, on lifting all those weights. When you get into rehearsals, you'll need to keep us all in the loop.

Nancy, I stayed on the HOW diet 2 2/3 days. I'm back now to what I was doing earlier. I will weigh on the 6th then decide if I want to do more than just abstain from sugar. (And try to make good choices)

JoJo, I know it would break your mother's heart if she realized how she's treating you. This is so sad.

Maryann, I have never played Canasta. I think it's wonderful you have so many fun activities to do with your friends.

Vickie, my back was hurting again this afternoon (I had cleaned a flowerbed and shot for almost 2 hours), so I took another dose of Meloxican. I feel much better. I was even chasing those bugs with the grands.
  • JoJo ..I am so sorry about your mother...It was really hard on my mom when my grandmother didn't recognize her and yours seems worse than that.
I know you know it isn't her and to keep those good memories close at hand.
I would look through the "happy time " photo albums before you visit to
help you remember it is her body but not her true self talking now.
Speaking of photos ..what does she say if you show her an old photo of
you & her doing something special??

Maryann..I laughed so hard when I read your post saying "I got rid of the woman that was bothering me" I just kept thinking of you burying the body and getting rid of the evidence

    I am sticking to this semi-fast I am doing...I was 142 today !!
I want to hit 140 before I go back to 1200 calories.
    Today I had 100 calories of soup/2 eggs & a 200 calorie frozen entree.
Tomorrow Robin and I are going up to the property and eating our breakfast
biscuit on the way up and our picnic up there is half the fun, so I am not sure what to do about that...I may take a day off and eat 1200 calories...
  • Wow, Nancy, that's a serious fast. I did about 900 calories one day this week, but about 1500 today. Tomorrow I will go down again, but not too far because I have both tap class and weights.

Congrats on 142, and head on down the scale. You can do it.

Sandra, we noticed all the big grasshoppers in your neck of the woods. They aren't here, but we have more mosquitoes than Canada has black flies! Where are the bats when you need them. (Did you know that the bats are really sick with a virus this year?)

Maryann, like Nancy, I had some great images of you "doing away" with someone. I saw a big black car and cement shoes!

    Have a great night everyone.
  • Morning All.

Here we are in October already. The 10th month of the year, and last Christmas only just seems to have passed. All our shops have Christmas stuff, but mercifully no Christmas muzak yet.

A truly filthy day here and it isn't light yet. The builder can't get on with our fence, we are promised heavy gales. Its all down so poor Dolly can't have her usual sniff and a poddle around the garden. We have some of that red plastic temporary stuff up, but it isn't really safe.

Some fool dumped a shopping cart outside our house last evening and the junkies (we have a huge drug problem in our city) were pushing it out into the road in front of cars. The police came fairly quickly so no one was injured. Even though the supermarkets have fail safe measures to stop people getting the carts out of the car parks, they still manage to turn up all over town. The markets employ folk to drive around in little trucks picking up trolleys.

I’m heading into town this morning ( wrapped up like Eskimo Nell) One of the local butchers has venison (I think it is known as deer meat in the US, I may be wrong though) on special.

Sandra Wish I'd been there with your Grandchildren. My daughter and I used to play Poo-sticks off a small bridge when we were out walking. Happy memories, but still a bit painful

    Have a good one everybody
  • Good Morning Ladies

Was suppose to go to the PB club but there a storm heading this way,not from Nicole but whats coming from Vickie's area, with winds going up to 30 -35 MPH.Not too bad as we have more than that during the winter months.,glad we got our walking done yesterday afternoon.

Can't believe we're starting a new month, where has this year flown????My twins DGD 10 year birthdays today. Remembering how I had to finish the clown dolls on the New London Fairy going to Long Island.

SANDRA-Congrats on catching 20 fish, when I went out fishing all I caught was sea robins, that I had to throw back.I can't believe How blessed I am having all this activities and friends I met during the passed year. I love playing canasta as it a fun game, one of my friends whats in the worst way to learn how to play bridge.I heard too many stories about the group in our senior center, aren't as forgiving when you make a mistake in melding. They take the game to seriously.

NANCY-Glad that I made you laugh, I guess I used the wrong choice of words.Met this woman at a bereavement group and she would hang on to me constantly, that I couldn't breath. I finally had to stop answering her phone calls and e-mails and now I'm hoping she gave up and won't bother me anymore.

RHONDA-WOW!! You're going that low on the calorie scale,Looks like you on the JUDD method of counting calories. Thanks, you made me laugh at what I posted. Sorry,no black car or cement shoes involved.

JOJO-I agree with you months are going by too fast like I posted above. One method for some of the supermarkets in NY did for keeping the carts on there property was when you wanted a cart you had to but 25 Cents[quarter] into the slot and to get you cart and when you turned it you'd get your quarter back. Talk to the manager it might work.

Have to go,and get today's chores done
