  • Rhonda, you're having a good day and your bfast sounds yummy. I had cantaloupe for bfast and roasted chicken breast with veggies and homemade cornbread for lunch. So far so good today for me, too. We have watermelon chilling in the fridge for this afternoon.
YoYo, I'm with you enjoying evenings in front of the TV. I usually have the laptop going at the same time. (I can't knit.)

Maryann, that's a lot of people. Are you thinking of maybe going somewhere this weekend? I hope your weather holds out no matter what you decide to do.

I'm driving the mower towing a 35 gal water tank around the yard watering pecan trees. My doctor's office called a bit ago and told me that was all right just for me to not be dragging a waterhose around (like I did earlier today). So far, my back is feeling much better. I'd tell you what is wrong with it, but that would take too long. I'm thinking what it all boils down to is that I'm not aging quite as gracefully as I'd hoped--but all could be worse. I have a lot to be grateful for. Life is good.

I hope you're all having the kind of day you're wanting.
  • Hi Ladies

I'm back from the doctors and I had the EMG and according to the test I have a moderate carpel tunnel along with a punched nerve around my left elbow.Have to ware a wrist brace in the evening when I go to bed.If it get worse I have to have my doctor[orthopedic surgeon] to operate on the wrist.

I'm seeing my own doctor on Thursday 9/2.Going to verify what this nerve specials told me. He told me after seeing the neck MRI that I have lots of arthritis in the main section of the spinal cord and there is a disc that's protruding that might cause problems later on in life.

Other wise that's all, hope i don't have to go for surgery on my wrist

Have a nice evening see you guys in the morning
  • Hey chickies, I have to go supervise a homecoming float site later, so I've got to make it quick.

Maryann, at least the diagnosis is carpel tunnel and not a neck injury requiring surgery. Hopefully the brace helps.

Sandra, glad your back is better.

Rhonda, you never cease to amaze me! Can you come be my trainer?

Jojo, I'm a knitter, too! My most proud accomplishment is socks

    GTG be a teacher. TTFN
  • Maryann, that sounds like a good report. Just wear that wrist brace at night. You're wise to share the info with your rgular doctor. We do that, too.

Sloan, how about photos of the float when you get it finished?
  • Oh Sandra, happily, I was not working on the float. I was just supervising. I will not even get to see the finished product, because I have a conference to attend on Homecoming Day. They were coming right along, though. Each class will work on their floats through Thursday then they will be judged on Friday night at the game.

Hope you chicks are having a good evening. Nighty, night!
  • I was doing well with food until my niece and I decided to go have Margaritas and Mexican food to celebrate a milestone in getting better care for my brother/her father who suffers from bi-polar and is not really able to care for himself very well anymore. OK, I'll do more time on the elliptical tomorrow because it was so worth it! (I did not eat the rice and beans and tried not to eat all of the chips.)

Also, yesterday, I think I finally got the concept of using core muscles while lifting weights. It sounds simple, but an "ah ha" moment hit me yesterday.

    I hope you're all having a good evening/night.

    Rhonda
  • Morning All.

Ontarget I have a longstanding back problem too. The doctors reckon it is from all the years nursing, but my mum (now 90 and sadly has dementia) maintains it is from the platform shoes and wedges I wore in the 70's.

Beachbum My husband has severe Carpel Tunnel syndrome caused by his job (lab. work). He sends you his sympathies and says hang in there. These days it is easier to get it fixed than 20 years ago when he developed it

Sloanie YEAH! Another sock junkie I am hooked. I knit all Mark's socks and also ones as Christmas presents. I'm, at the moment, enjoying the random pattern wool. Mark has conservative tastes where socks are concerned.. beige, brown, earthy colours only. So I go to town on the ones I do for girlfriends.

Have a good day everyone. I was so tired last night, I hit the hay at 9.30pm, read until around 10.30 then dropped into a solid sleep. I have been up since 6am. Our dog is disgusted. When I came downstairs she gave me a 'Dog trying to get some sleep here' look.
  • Good Morning Chicks! I, too, am up too early today. I'll be back later to catch up when I can.

Have a great on program day.
  • Wish I could chat for a while but I'm was busy getting ready for the Hurricane Earl.

I got my shopping done, batteries, water, canned veggies and cold cuts just if the power goes out. I also, have the patio cleared.

SANDRA-The news media always over estimates the people coming to the Cape, now they saying it might be less now that Hurricane Earl is on the way. Oh I always make or have copy's made for my reg doctor. He has to know what specialist I go to.

SLOAN-I'm so happy myself it was CTS and not my neck.Even if I do have to have surgery on my wrist its going to be micro surgery.

JOJO-Thanks,sorry about your DH having to suffer with this CTS The nerve specialist told me,surgery on the wrist isn't bad anymore.

Have to start dinner, have a good day
  • JoJo, I beat you to bed last night. 8:30. We slept till after 9 this AM. I'm guessing we're both tired from the heat and from healing. Anyway, I feel good today and am already watering via riding mower/ 35 gal tank and pecan trees.

Maryann, I am sending you wishes for a safe weekend.

Rhonda, I'm having Mexican food for lunch Friday for Karla's 40th bday. Sadly, there won't be any margaritas. We're eating in the elementary school library so her faculty can attend.

Got to go. My timer just went off and it's time to move water.
  • Hey Chicks! Jim's doctor appointment went as expected. He needs an MRI on both shoulders and probably has bursitis in the one that hasn't had surgery yet. He got some heavy duty naproxen until the results from the MRI's are in. Then he'll either get a cortisone shot or surgery. He needs relief. I hope he gets it soon.

I'm trying to be on program but I feel like I want to stress eat. Not that it helps anything.

Sandra, I'm glad you and Curtis slept. You need your rest.

Mary Ann, carpal tunnel does sound better than your neck. I'm glad you're on the rode to recovery.

Jojo, back problems are no fun. I lost my Mom to Alzheimer's at 79. She was diagnosed at 67. I personally believe she gave up after my Dad died when she was only 58. Sad.

Rhonda, your celebration sounds moderate and rationale. Great for you!

Sloan, you sound so busy. Hope you have time to breathe over this long weekend.

Uh Oh....have we lost Nancy? Where are you Nancy? We're here to help if you need/want us to.
  • Hey guys...I am still here !!!

Our internet has been out . A repairman came to fix it this am and then it went out again right after he left.. We called him and he asked if we had been paying our bill LOL...they seem to have it working again tonight...

I am doing good most of the time but I have crying spells over dumb stuff...
If I had girls I feel like they would call and tell me all about everything..
My boys call and just say "things are great" Its like pulling teeth to get them to talk on the phone.

Eating is not too bad--not too great...
  • Nancy, I'm a girl, I left home, I did NOT tell my mother everything!! She would have been shocked

Maryann, now, don't have a hurricane watch party!

I went to bed at 10PM, slept until 6AM, went back to bed at 7AM and slept until 11:15AM!!! I'm not sleepy, by the way.

I saw Todd and leg pressed 450 pounds for 2 sets of 15 reps. That's the most I've ever done. WHEW.

I've eaten just under 1400 calories today with a good balance of carbs, fats and protein. Using fitday.com is helpful.

AND, we just had a fantastic thunderstorm that went on for about an hour, with full display of thunder and lightning.

    Rhonda
  • I ate ribs and a baked potato and a salad. Head hung in shame.
  • Vickie, you needed it. Just think of what you could have done and used to do. You're all right. I hope Jim gets some relief soon. My shots have worked well, but I'm thinking I'll prob have to have one more. I hope Jim doesn't have to have an operation. If he does, will it be a replacement? Curtis has 2 artificial shoulders.

Rhonda, we got just a smidgen of your storm. It really cooled everything off, though.

Nancy, you're probably better off not knowing. (I know that doesn't help, but it's prob true.)

JoJo and Sloan, I'm waving at you.

Not much going on here. I've been wanting something sweet today but so far so good. Have agoo evening, everyone.
