  • Good morning Ladies and welcome back BARB! Well, its time to get serious. Today is my new start. I WILL write down everything on my etools and WILL NOT eat any non core foods today. What is going to be an additional motivator is that I have to go to the Dr this morning for my annual check. She does make me get on the scale which will be up from last year. I'm guessing about 10 pds from last year. No more excuses!

Other than that I need to go to Sears and pick up a wet/dry vac for DH (his died last night) and then to find tap shoes for dd. I did find her ballet slippers/shoes at Target along with her dance leotard and tights.

Tomorrow its back to work for me! Have a great day everyone! BBL
  • Hi girls, I'm back! I know only posted a few times here but now I'm here for good. I'm off to make some core pancakes in a minute. I've never had them before so this should be fun lol. This past week I had an almost 2lb loss and I've been trying to drink more water so I think that helped me this week!! Our labor day was fun, nice cookout and I was really good until I attacked the leftovers later that night lol. Other then that I've done really well and stuck to my guns. DS started 5k this morning, I'm looking forward to getting my exercise routine back in line - now that I have a bit more of some "me time".

I will be back after making the pancakes to respond to everyone else, I'm starved and I need some caffeine - bad!!

I must say tho since I last posted I have been wondering(off and on) how everyone was doing, I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Hope you ad a wonder Labor day weekend. Leo & I relaxed all day watching the playoff golfing, than we had a BBQ of burgers & potato salad.Stayed OP all day,as I'm hoping for a good W-I this Thursday.

DONNA-Welcome back from your vacation. I love Maine also, was suppose to move up that way,but our kids living in NY said they would never visit us as the trip would be to long. So we settled for Cape Cod. You didn't do to bad eat brats & potato salad, like you said it was once, and you exercised 15 miles with your biking, that excellent so that off set the eating.

VICKIE-Now I know yes I can agree Chicagoland can get cooler we surround by warm water.

SANDRA-Thanks I don't really go to the movies but when there a good movie out there I take the plunge and go.

SLOAN-Didn't see the first movie,do I have in order to understand what going on???? Glad you had a nice relaxing day, that the reason for labor day and that including to being a house wife.

BARB-Welcome back, gee thats along time being away from home. Just hop on and join the Core OP with exercising & drinking water will get you back on track again.

RHONDA-Hope you have a good stressless year. I agree with Sloan writing things down like feeling will relief the stress.

PAULA-Good luck at the doctors, hope that scale didn't go up too much. I like the WW e-tools also,as they keep me from going over my 35 points.

DANDY-Welcome back to the thread. You'll find that we all have the same problems keeping on program,so glad you joined us again.Never made core pancake, but I have a low carb recipe that I used instead.

Have a great morning and I'll see you later

    Hugs
  • Good Morning Chicks! I stopped in to read how everyone was doing and now I'm going to eat breakfast.

I'm going to come back and get caught up before I go in the pool. It's supposed to be 90 degrees here today.

Drink your water! I'm having a hard time with mine. I wonder what's up with that.
  • Yes, Sloan, I've started a diary. Primarily I'm recording what I feel about being here and anticipating the big change that's coming. I love Toronto/Ontario in the late summer and fall. But, we are expecting a harsh winter, and I love it MUCH, MUCH less. I'm a summer girl for sure

OK, everybody's got new motivation it seems. I'll get on the bandwagon. I've got to go to the office, but I'll go to class tonight or use a DVD. That's my contribution today. Well, along with being Core for the rest of the day, and drinking my water...just had some for you, Vickie!

    BBL,
    Rhonda

ps. welcome back Dawn...you can do it.
  • Maryann-I don't think you have to see the first movie to enjoy the second one. It is just a "girlie" movie that is fun and makes you feel good.

Rhonda-I'm motivated to stay op, but I'm having a hard time with exercise! Why is that?

Vickie-I'm drinking my water. I've already had 16 oz. of water in addition to the coffee I had this morning. I plan on having at least one more bottle before I go home today. 3pm-I had the second one!

    Dandy-Welcome back

    GTG be a teacher. BBL
  • Thanks Sloan,my friend just called and has to work at the end of this week so she made plans for us to see the movie next Tuesday.

    Hugs
  • Happy Tuesday All,

I'm procrastinating cleaning the kitchen and getting the rhubarb chutney made for dinner, it has to sit for 2 hrs before eating so it'll sit while we go to the gym and grill the chops.

Thanks for the welcome back. So far today I've done my 1/2 hr of yoga stretching (I'm trying to do that each morning) and met my folks at the park to walk. We try to meet every Tuesday at the park in summer and the mall in winter, it's a nice way to touch base, even if slightly expensive with the higher gas prices. I've also been pretty core, so I'm pretty happy with my day.

Paula - I'm going to try those egg substitute cups you posted on the breakfast thread. They sound good, but I think I'll make a cup out of canadian bacon like I saw on Sara Moulton, I hope it'll still freeze well.

Rhonda - Don't mention a hard winter. It's 88F here right now. Did you make it to Niagra?

Maryann - Glad you had a relaxing holiday. Always a nice time.

Vicki - how's your day going? Should definitely be warm enough for the pool today

    Dandy - Welcome

Barb - Welcome Back. I just came back myself and then left on vacation.

Sloan - Sometimes a couch surfing day is a good thing. Glad you had fun.

Sandra - My miles include anything that builds up miles (mainly walking and biking), my goal started higher and came down and I still don't think I'll make it. I should meet 250 which would be half my original goal , which considering everything is better than nothing.

Well I should probably get moving.

    Have a great day everyone.

  • Donna, I'm still impressed with your "journey." You're doing great.

Rhonda, we have snow in the mountains all around us. We're leaving for Texas Friday week. I'm ready to go home. Today we bought a Goldflame Honeysuckle to take back home. We had one here in MT and loved it. Couldn't find any like it in TX. Who knows? We may start something down there.

Dawn. It's good to have you back.

Sounds like everyone is motivated and doing well. Makes me smile. I'm doing well, too.

Good success to all of you--errrrr---us. Let's do it!
  • Sandra, just wanted to share this picture (hopefully it shows correctly!)

    Oh good ,it worked!

  • Hey, look at that..a budding Sandra!!!

Ok, I hope everyone had a good day. I made a "soup" yesterday that is very tasty and simple. I cooked fresh cauliflower in chicken and vegetable stock, then pureed the whole lot of it. I added some skim milk, salt and pepper, and presto, I had cauliflower soup. yum..

Sloan, I think we all have trouble exercising because...despite what "they" say about it taking 45 minutes, it takes more like 1 1/2 hours if not more. You have to count getting ready, getting to the gym or setting up the DVD, doing the exercising, taking a shower, etc...it is a &*#& commitment no matter how much the gurus want to soft pedal that. Most of it don't have much time to take care of ourselves since we're still too busy taking care of others...being the "good" chickies that we are....but, NO more excuses...

I have a long day tomorrow, so I won't likely be on the board much.

    Night all,
    Rhonda
  • KEWL!!! I love the photo. Tell DD she's a real Robinette.

    [img]http://texasfieldarchery.org/images/header_arrows.gif[/]

Rhonda, you're right about all that extra time.

I ate half a pb/j sandwich tonight. It was on diet bread--but it was peanut butter. I guess I could have (and have) done worse.
  • Hey chicks! Hope everyone has had a great day. I've got a bit of PMS, so I feel like I could eat the north end out of a south bound skunk! Have you yankees ever heard that one? I have had a few more points today than I usually have, but I'm still counting them, and I'm okay so far. I did get in my water today, but still no exercise. I think I'm going to get a pedometer and try to log in a certain number of steps per day. Does anyone know the magic number to shoot for? I know there is a recommendation, but I can't remember what it is.

Paula-I absolutely love the photo! Don't know why, but it brought tears to my eyes (must be the PMS).

Rhonda-I have to confess, I'm not that busy taking care of others that I don't have time to exercise. I just think I've developed some really bad habits, and need to develop some new ones. I've got to make up my mind to get started and plan ahead just like I do with my food. Maybe the pedometer idea will be doable. Wish me luck!

    Nighty, night all!
  • It's 10,00 steps, Paula.

Donna, we did make it into the pool today. I was in for 3 hours. I'd be surprised if the temperature gets warm enough again. I'm SO sad since it's 9 months until next June. It makes me really wonder if it pays to have an outside pool in Chicago.

Hey Sandra. You know we've all done worse. The key is to not let a slip become a collapse.

Yep, I'm up in the middle of the night. Something's up with my sinuses. It just must be that time of year.
  • Not doing to shabby here, took a peek at the scale (I usually do mid week) and was down 2 lbs. I won't change my tracker until it's official on Friday but I am pretty happy . Got some exercise yesterday I walked with my mom in the morning and DH and I went back to the gym in the evening before dinner. Not sure about today I was hoping to get in a bike ride but it's warm and a little muggy (I don't do heat well and the older I get the worse it gets) so I may leave that for tomorrow. We'll see what I can do today. I'm off to the grocery store to pick up some odds and ends, plus doing laundry. Those jobs seem to be never ending.

I just wanted to add a word of caution to people. I got these energy drink tablets at a party I went too. They're all natural, nothing I hadn't had before. You dissolve them in water add ice and drink. I tried one yesterday, man did they upset my stomach, my heart was racing at the gym and last night I had the worst headache. Apparently they did not agree with me at ALL. My DH goes well you know pot is all natural, that doesn't mean it's good for you. So just be careful what you put in your bodies.

Paula - What a cute picture!

Sloanie - I hate to exercise myself, and haven't done really well this summer. I think those people who say "you'll love it when you try it" and "you'll get addicted to it" need there heads examined. So what I try to do is be active and do stuff that doesn't sound/feel like exercise even though it really is. I'll walk to the farmer's market (about 2 miles round trip), or dh and I'll walk to dinner (again 2 miles), I ride my bike to WW, or we'll go for a hike or a bike ride on the weekend, or I took my nephew to the pool (let me tell you chasing a 5 yo around a splash pool was exercise), walk around a museum, just something to get me up and off the couch. Oh and I loved the quote that's a new one for me (a yankee for sure).

Vicki - 'Tis the season for allergies. Hope you're feeling better.

Sandra - Definitely could have been worse. Hang in there. Hope your plant survives the climate change, maybe that's why you couldn't find them in Texas.

Rhonda - Hope your day wasn't too stressful.

    Have a great one everyone.
