Husband just picked a fight before I had been awake 5 minutes this am.
urgggg!! |
Good Morning to all!
I, too, ate off program yesterday. I'm going to chalk it up as a "treat" for myself and get focused today. My weigh in is tomorrow, so I'm staying positive. I hope everyone enjoyed their mother's day. Vickie, I can't pretend to know how it feels to be without my mom, but I know she would not want you to be sad. I'm praying that you will be able to focus on some special memories of her and that they will make you :) Also, I'm sending you some  Guess I'd better get going. Have a great day! Sloan |
Good Morning Chicks!
Hey Rhonda. You sound SO determined. I'm pretending until I can get it right. I'm feeling a bit better today. I just felt sad yesterday because neither Jim nor I have our Mothers anymore and I'm not a Mother myself. I ate. Nancy, don't let the fight make you eat off program. I'm famous for that. Sloan, you're a sweetie. Thanks! Sandra and Frouf....where are you? Gotta run. I have a million things to do today. So much for being retired! |
Vickie.. Thanks..I do get tempted to throw in the towel when stressed.
I also miss my mom and Mothers Day is bitttersweet. I think it should be "Ladies Day" All ladies need a day of honor for all the love and support we give to others. |
Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and all the Mom's had a wonderful day yesterday. Vickie, sorry it brought you down. I am blessed that I still have my mom and she lives close.
I had a nice day - was woken up at 6:30 with a 5 year old face in my face. I got a nice mother/child pin and bracelet. DH said the original pin she picked out was a big, colorful flower -- he didn't think I'd wear it after yesterday. The one he got her to select is a nice silver pin - a heart shape made out of a mom's profile looking at an infant. Very pretty. Kept close to home and I did stick to plan (excpet for the 2 glasses of wine with dinner!). I have wi tomorrow and I'm hoping to stay the same. After my big loss 2 weeks ago, I just don't want a gain (skipped last week!). So lots and lots of water today and nothing additional. DD has a play date tomorrow at her friends, so I'm going for a manicure and pedicure after I drop her off. A treat for me! Sloanie, hope you like the chickpeas. Once you get the method, you can season how ever you like. I did splenda and cinnamon once (put them on after they were out of the pan but still warm). Hmmm, wonder what would happen if they cooked in the pan. might need to try that tomorrow night. I made sheppards pie yesterday that needs to be heated for dinner tonight - I haven't made it in a while. BBL |
Hi All:
I'm with Nancy about Mother's Day. I will never be a biological mom, and it is something that brought me great grief. But, at the same time, I made (and still make) great efforts to "mother" other people's children, and their children. It's brought me great pleasures. I missed my mother and my sister (like a mother to me) also. I was able to visit my former MIL in the nursing home. Even though the Alzheimers is bad, she knows me and could still understand Mother's Day. My eating has been a joke over the last few days. I injured the roof of my mouth eating a toasted bagel, so I was "punished" Now, I can hardly eat anything! Rhonda PS: let's all say a prayer or two for the poor souls in Burma and China who are suffering so severely from the cyclone and the earthquake. |
I've come back to brag. Since last Thursday night, I have either exercised with a DVD or walked. Tonight I walked just under 2 miles in 25 minutes. Each time I have also done exercises on the floor and lifted free weights.
:woohoo: |
Tejas.... That is really impressive, you should be proud!!
keep it up. How do you motivate yourself?? |
Well, its wi day and I am going today. I think I may be up slighly or by God's grace stay the same. I'm so close to my 10 pd mark - I should be there now. I have .4 to be at my that point. Thinking back to the week I had a great loss, I exercised alot more. I think my 20 minute walk a day just maintains me -- I need to start adding lunch time walks. I need to check my calendar at work and block off an hour to do that.
Rhonda -:bravo: on your exercising. Keep it up! Well, its Tuesday, my day off. DD has gymnastics this morning and then I' dropping her off at her friends house at 11. I also have a call at 11 for work - need to call from the road. Then I'm going to get my nails done! Treat for me...... I'm also going to get a good long walk in before I pick her up at 2:00. hmmm, need to check the time. Maybe I'll go prior to getting my nails done - not sure if how the times going to run. Hopefully the call will not last an hour. Well, got to get dd out of bed. She is starting to like to sleep in -- well, yesterday she was up at 4am! BBL |
Just checked my ww on line for my last wi. I actually have lost 9.8 -- only .2 to hit that 10 pd mark. UGH - I should have been there.....now I'm disapointed in myself for not doing better these past 2 weeks. Why did I let my nieces wedding set me into a bad streatch!!!
|
Good Morning Chicks!
You'll get there, Paula. Don't be mad at yourself. It doesn't help. Yeah, Rhonda, how ARE you motivating yourself? I've yet to start again although I tell myself every day that I will. Hair cut and color for me today and pedicure tomorrow. Woo hoo! |
Good morning chickies! I went to wi today and lost 1.2 lbs! :carrot:I was so happy because I was kind of bad this weekend. I drank beer (light, of course) and went over my point limit, but I did get some exercise in so that must have helped. We were up at my dbf's cottage with his family and it's kind of hard to stay op. I stayed op for the meals, but ate non core snacks, which wasn't good. I'm just happy that I lost. I would have been happy if I just maintained.
Paula, don't beat yourself up. You will get there. You are so close. Rhonda, way to go on the exercise! I wish I was able to do the different things you can do. Last Thursday I had a cortosone(?) shot in my knee, and it is feeling better than it has for a long time. I did go for a walk this past weekend, which was something I have been unable to do in a long time. It did start bothering me after awhile and I didn't want to push it. But they have a paddle boat for the lake, so I did a lot of paddling this weekend, and that's kind of like riding a bike so I did get exercise. I have some exercise dvd's and I think I'm going to see if I can do them. Since my knee is feeling better I just might be able to! I'm just not sure how long it will last. I guess this is just a bandaid fix for my knee, it's not a cure all. Take care all! :D http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...SCV/weight.png [/url] http://img801.mytextgraphics.com/spa...5308f0c682.gif |
Morning All:
Thanks for the cudos. I just got tired of hearing my excuses, and I realized that the summer is just a great time to get moving. I'll keep it up and brag about it! Paula, you'll make it, and Tracie, congratulations for the loss. Vickie, you asked about Sandra. Yesterday was the day they were to get their new house, so I'll bet she is very busy. Rhonda |
:carrot: Go me!! I had wi today and lost three pounds!! I know it won't always be such a big loss, but I'm so excited to be losing. On a much more "lame" note, I was looking at my ww book and in 1999 I weighed the same as I did when I started last week. :( I want this to be the beginning of a new phase in my life where I pay more attention to my weight and overall health.
Tracie: way to go on your loss! Be careful with your knee and don't go overboard Rhonda: I'm going to follow your lead on the exercise. You've inspired me. Paula: hang in there Vickie and Paula: I'm envious of your upcoming nail treatments. It's always good to do something special for yourself. Hope you all have had a great day  Sloan |
Way to go everyone!!!!
I lost another pound I think but my scales are jumping around so I will wait for the official weigh in on Friday. Today was the first day I felt thinner with my pants fitting better. I have a rotten headache though so I am going to take a nap. |
Found an awesome marinade for london broil. Had it tonight and it was so good. I will post it here and also on the recipe board. Am bringing leftovers to work tomorrow. Whole family loved it! The only thing I would do different is marinate it longer and possibly add some adolfs tenderizer to make the meat more tender or tenderize the meat before marinating it. I marinated it about 6 hours, but think I would do it overnight next time.
I used top round steak. Core London Broil Ingredients 1 cup reduced sodium soy sauce 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper 2 chopped chives 1 clove minced garlic 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger 2 tablespoons splenda Put all ingredients in large ziplock bag and marinate meat for at least 3 hours, or overnight. This recipe is enough for 3 lbs of meat, and can be used on any meat. Grill meat and slice thin to serve. YUMMY! The toasted sesame seeds are actually 1 point through out the whole recipe, but you don't really eat them so I'm sure you wouldn't need to count them. |
Hi Everyone
Not staying on here long. Went to WW last night. I lost a pound. But now today I am not feeling very good. Started about 1:00 am this morn. Lets just say. I have spent most of my day on the couch. Or in the bathroom. I need to go and check up on everyone. But will do that when I am feeling better. Hope everyone is doing ok. Thinking of each of you. coco |
And a drum roll please....................yes, I lost. I lost 1.8!! (Thank you GOD) Not sure how I pulled that one out, but I'll take it. I'm now down 11.4 in total. 2.8 pds till I'm free again (that will put me 2 pds above my goal!). I haven't been able to get this close to my goal since about 6 months after I made lifetime back in 2005. Needless to say-- I'm thrilled!
I love the renewed energy on this board. Congrats Tracie, Coco, Nancy (unoffical :) ) and Sloanie! We can all do this!!! Well, off to get dd out of the shower and ready for bed. Just had to stop by to update everyone! Have a great night. |
Congrats to all the "losers"! :woohoo:
I know the feeling about being back where you were. I haven't really done that, but I'm 20 pounds over my lowest in this whole journey for the last 8 years. The lowest was 5 years ago. I'm just not going to accept this. Overall, I want to lose 40. So, if this summer sees 20 gone, I'll be very happy. I'm taking the dog out for a walk. It's DH's turn at night, but I'm going to do it tonight just to move more. Rhonda |
woohoo!!
Sounds like this group is going strong. Congrats on the weight loss, chicks!
I have a question for the group. I realized today that my ww goal is 124. That goal was set when I was 28. I will be 50 in September, and I think I will be too thin and look older at that weight. Should I change my goal? Also, I'm not sure how easily I will be able to maintain 124. Tell me what you think., Sloan |
Sloanie, per WW on line site -- age 50, 5ft 2 inches. Goal is 137. Age 25 is 125. HTH
|
Way to go Paula! Just stick to plan and you will be back to your goal in no time. You are so close. I wish I was that close, but I know I will get there. It's just a matter of time and sticking to plan. And I will!!
Sloanie I set my goal higher than what ww says I should weigh. My doctor already told me that if I can get to 135 he will be very happy with me. If I get to 135 and still feel that I need to lose more, I will keep going. But I am not making any decisions on this until I get closer to where I want to be. |
I am doing the same thing with my goal weight. I was 124 in my 20's (now I'm 50) I want to get to 130 and decide after I hit that weight.
If I am in shape & toned I think I will just know when I am at that perfect weight. |
Howdy from Texas. We have our new home but are not in it yet. The electric company needs to come set a new pole. We're still in the condo and are doing fine.
Congratulations to all of you for your enthusiasm and for your accomplishments. I just finished catching up on ya and see there's a lot of success here. I'm getting readfy to join you. A gf and I are going to help each other beginning in the AM. I am not commiting to regular exercise yet but will as soon as we get things under control here with the moving. Congratulations to all of you. Reading your accomplishments and passion has helped me get back on the wagon. Thank you, all. |
Sloanie... I am afraid if I set too low a goal weight that I will work really hard and get to a great weight for me and not feel proud because it is not the
goal weight I originally selected (which was too low). Weight watchers told me to get to my 10% weight (150-15= 135) then set a final goal. I know I want to be at least 130 but the I will decide from there. |
Good day everyone! Well, I'm happy to report that for some unknown reason, I think my loss yesterday was a true loss. My scale was down this morning -- its odd since it was higher yesterday am hence I was not expecting any loss but maybe a gain. So, I'm happy :)
I also took a 35 minute walk at lunch and will also take one tonight with my dog. So, things are going well. I am keeping the 2.8 to go until free in my mind. Hmm, need to add something to my ticker... For setting goals - I agree with Nancy, hit your 10% then work with your leader to figure out your next goal. Is it another 10% ? My leader also allowed me to set my goal at the highest weight for my height -- which for me works well. Well, off to get some stuff done. |
About goal weight:
Assuming that you do not have a distorted body image or perception of your size, is there a problem with looking at past pictures of yourself, thinking about how you felt about how you looked and what you weighed and letting that be your goal weight. I'm just guessing that most people would be very close to what WW thinks is the goal weight, plus or minus ten pounds. Rhonda |
Goal weight info....
Under Support Forum/Weight loss support there is a whole thread on setting a goal weight. I found it helpful. |
I agree with Rhonda. Goals should be realistic. Something you can live with comfortably.
|
Thanks everyone for the responses about goal. I think I like the idea of losing 10% then adjusting from there. I think the goal that was set for me when I was about 28 years old is just too low for a 50 year old female. Besides making my face too thin, I'm not sure that I can easily maintain it. I have looked at photos of myself at the lower weight, and I think I looked okay, but I was around 20 years younger than I am now.
Also, I had a big learning experience today (a big mistake) and waited until I was famished to eat dinner. The family wanted mexican, so needless to say, the chips and I had a great time. I won't let that happen again! I'm still being patient with myself as I am in the learning phase. I have several eating challenges coming up over the next two weeks, so pray for me to have peace and take things one day at a time. I really am so happy to be interacting with you all. I know this group will help me get to goal., Sloan P.S. I hope all of you sick chicks feel better very soon! |
Sloanie, today is a new day. Just get back to program and I bet those chips don't show too bad. Per ww on line, 12 chips are 3 points. So if you estimate what you had, you may be surprized. Also, when is you wi? Are you close to resetting your 35? Keep praying for strength and will power -- God will help!
Well, off to get into the shower. I'm going to try to walk at lunch again today. We may get showers, so I think I'll bring my umbrella just in case. BBL |
Sloanie... When I do things like that it is the salt/water gain the next day that makes me think I did more damage than I really did. If you learned
then something good came from it. I have trouble with the chip basket also. I always think... well the salsa is good , right ?? We usually ask for them to not bring bread baskets to the table but something about those chips!! |
Thanks Nancy and Paula, you guys are awesome:D
My wi is not until next Tuesday, so I have time to straighten things out. So far today, I've had yogurt and have plans for an op lunch. This week is hard because I've been so busy that the pantry is just about empty, my students are having a party in class tomorrow (with food), and my son's graduation is Saturday with guests coming by for coffee and dessert. I will bring something to school tomorrow to eat with my class and I'm looking for a yummy core dessert to include in Saturday's plans. I just hope that in the "busy-ness" of the next few days I can stay focused on my goal. Speaking of that, I do plan to talk to my leader next week about my 10% then I'll make plans for goal from there. Thanks again for being such sweeties!, Sloan |
Hi Everyone
Finally feeling better. See alot has been going on. My Dad had to have knee surgery today. So took him for that. Because my Mom got what I had on Tues. Dad was sick also on Tues. Anyway. They went in and scraped his knee for arthritis and then there was a tear in something. I know the name. but not how to spell. Just talked to him. Said he is in some pain. but doing ok. Mom is starting to feel better too. Just hope hubby dont get this stuff that is going around. Well ladies I need some help planning a camping trip. We are going camping next weekend. So I am trying to make plans for good eating while we are gone. I know I need veggies. Will not be making smore's. Not even buying the stuff. Son is wanting chicken salad. Wonder if there is a way to make it core. does anyone know if there is a way. Well ladies looks like I wrote a book. and havent even said anything. I hope everyone is doing ok. Am thinking of each of you. Have a wonderful evening. coco Sorry about the long post. |
Coco, chicken salad is easy to make core. Just use ff mayo, or ff miracle whip. YUMM. I had posted a buffalo chicken salad on the side dish section here. Its made with whole wheat pasta, chicken, celery, onions, carrots. Then you mix it with ff blue cheese dressing and hot sauce. its yummy if you like buffalo chicken. There is also a core muffin recipe made with oatmeal, cream of wheat and bananas. I've made those and they are good. you could freeze a bunch and bring them with you for a core snack or breakfast. Sounds like fun!!
Not much going on here = dd is in the tub, dh is out in the barn in his workshop. Got two walks in today - one at lunch for 40 minutes and my routine nightly walk for 20. I'm happy! Well, off to surf the web. |
Hey Tracie -- is that you posting on the WW core board as well??
|
coco.. we used to make a big chili at home and freeze it ,then it was easy to
heat up at the campsite. You could make Core chili. |
coco....thought of one more thing. You could make hobo packs which are
hamburger/onion/green pepper/ and some potato all wrapped inside a foil pack. Then you cook them on a grill/campfire. |
Yes that's me! I got on tonight and wow is it busy on that board. Thought I'd put my 2 cents in!
