Seems like wws does not "support" core as much....
I am finding a lack of core support from ww as a whole. When I went to the meetings, and when I read the cookbooks. Also the mag they put out. I got it a few times, but not much in there is about core. Alot of the flex recipes could easily be made core, if they used lower fat meat or some other simple change.
I do the flex plan, but I have definitely noticed that there is much less information and support for the core plan. This is one of the reasons I chose to go with the flex plan.
I noticed the cookbooks seem 3/4 's flex so I did not buy them.
In the meeting they all gave these snack ideas that sounded tempting but they were all flex. Who needs to go to a support meeting and hear about wonderful temptations.
I think they need to have flex and core meet separately.
I rarely use the cookbooks either. I adapt my own recipes or find some pretty good ideas on this site. I am single so it is hard to find recipes that feed one person that are quick to prepare. I've got a few though.
Are there others there doing core? I've found the leaders may not mention core much, but if start asking core type questions there are others interested as well. After all, its our meeting (or it should be if the leader is good) and she should be able to stear the conversation where the members need it to go.
I just helped my leader do 2 meetings on core. The meeting I attend and another meeting she does on a different night. Hardly anyone was doing core but after I helped her out with it and people started asking questions and I told them the kinds of things I ate they were a little more interested. Some have even switched over to core and they are LOVING IT.
With core you have to be creative with your food so you don't get bored and think outside of the box. Stop when you are satisfied and use your 35 points on non core foods of your choice.
I could never go back to flex. I have done way too much research and looked things up and tweaked recipes to go back and count points.
I noticed that most of the leaders don't know alot about core and lost their weigh doing the flex plan. Usually they ask the people in the group who do core to adress questions. I think ww invented core to compete with all the other low-carb diets.
At wi, they always ask if I followed flex or core for the week. When I tell them core, and how much I love it the leader always tells me to bring that up and that core is a great program and more people need to check it out. But she has to give them the overall choice. There are only about six other people in my meeting doing core, and I have been giving them some of my recipes and ideas. They loved the icecream and can't believe how easy and good it is. I always ask core questions. But for some people, they don't have enough discipline to stop eating when they are satisfied. I've heard a few people mention this. I love core and can't believe there is such an easy way to eat so well, and lose weight as you do it.
But ww does not promote core as much as they promote flex. I love the freedom of not journaling everything. I believe that I can easily change my eating habits, with core. This is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change.
I know when my husband and I were doing weight watchers, he chose core as he knew he would not journal. Then I "chose" core since I was going to be cooking for both of us and I wasn't preparing two meals. I, too, noticed not as much support or information. I think that Mercee's comment that most of the leaders lost their weight on Flex has a lot to do with it. However, the leader was interested in making core more accessible to others in the group and would encourage us to share.
If it weren't for another ww leader sitting in on my weekly meeting and talking a bit about Core I never would have been inspired to try it. I switched over from Flex about a week ago and it's amazing! I shared some details at the latest meeting but the general response was, "I can't do that."
I agree I feel a little out of place but the feeling on Core is so good I don't mind researching elsewhere and finding my own support. =)
I have about 6-7 people in my meeting that are doing core. So I have given them recipes (they loved my core icecream recipe) and shared different ideas with them. Our leader loves that I am on core and told me that she wishes others would realize how good core can work for people. But most people like counting points. I tried it the last few times I joined ww, but this time around was talked into core and I love it. I have so much more freedom and don't have to write everything down to know where I'm at. Another thing that made two of the people switch to core is seeing my progress in such a short time. But I do tell them you still need to watch your portion sizes. Eat until your satisfied, not until your full. Plus, I usually don't use all my points. I don't usually have the need for them. This weekend will probably be different as we are going up north to my dbf cottage with his sisters family and his mother. I am still bringing some of my food, things I can have so hopefully it won't be to difficult.

That is why I started core.. My Husband said it sounded like something he could do and I wanted something that allowed me to cook one way for the whole family. Worst diet he tried for that was atkins. We had all his full fat
cheeses/lots of meats around and he could not have fruit which I was trying to eat more of.
