Default Hi! I can't stay on track. Love food!

I'm new to this! I have been reading it and there are so many good suggestions and good support I decided to join in. I have done WW before. I love the plan, but I can't stick to it. I am an emotional eater. I'm switching to core because the writing down is driving me crazy. I have 50 lbs to lose and I have been going up instead of down. Very frustrated with myself. I can't do this alone I need supervision!

Aww hon, I hear ya. It's HARD sticking to something. I always thought that I couldn't lose weight, that I had no will power, no control. But it really is the only way to lose weight and then keep it off. And I FINALLY realized that. I couldn't have it both ways. I couldn't have all the high calorie/high quantity food AND be healthy and fit and trim.

You've got to come to the decision and then make the commitment to a better, healthier, more fit and active life.

But also keep in mind just how HARD it is to be overweight. I think in the end, if you really, really think about it, it's MUCH harder and no where near as rewarding to STICK to a healthy plan then to be overweight.

Do know that eventually, and really not all that long, the NEW healthier habits will become just that - habits - and WILL be easier to sustain and STICK with. Cause' that's the key, finding things that you can STICK with.

Oh and I don't do WW, I count calories. But WW is a very successful plan for many people and once you make that decision to shed the pounds for good, I'm sure you'll be successful too. Good luck to you!

Thank you. You are right. I hate being heavy, I hate shopping in the X department. I hate having my picture taken. Thin looks and feels so much better. I have to stop beating myself up. I also have to look at it a day at a time. 50lbs is a scary number. But if I think I just have to stick to it one week, I can handle that. I saw your pictures, that is unbelievable! You lost a whole other person!

I also want you to find healthy foods that you really love, through tweaking your current recipes and experimenting with new foods and ideas. When you find foods that you absolutely love, it's not all that difficult to stay on plan.

Remember, you want to do this longterm. So you MUST find things that you enjoy. I enjoy the foods I'm eating so much now. My tastes have changed - and so will yours.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. It is hard to shop and plan meals. It will take a little time to change my attitude about food, and that it's a good thing and stop thinking that losing weight is a punishment. Its really nice to have this site. The civilians in my life don't understand how weight can effect us in mind and body.

Along the same lines as it 's hard to be fat, I know that planning meals IS time consuming, but so what. It's time very well spent. Eating healthy DOES require planning. It most certainly does not happen by accident. Therefore it must be thought out and preparations must be made. Again, it's well worth the time and will eventually become your way of life. Yes, it's fine and dandy to make the decision to lose the weight and the ensuing commitment, but we MUST set ourselves up for success - by planning ahead. Because really, what are the alternatives?

Don't think of it as a punishment. Because it's just the OPPOSITE. It's a gift. It's the coolest thing to eat healthy and BE healthy. Don't think of it as I can't have so and so anymore. I'm not saying no to ice cream, cookies, fried chicken, whatever - I'm saying YES to a healthy, fit, trim and HAPPIER me.

I just looked at your story. I can relate to so much of it. Thank you for uderstanding. Its great that you can reach out to others and share your experience. My day at work is almost over. Here comes the hard part. My evenings are really tough for me. I have made plans to go for a swim at the YMCA in my area. Once I get home, my plan is to watch TV, and go to bed around 10:30. I was planning on having some popcorn while I watch TV. I think when I get the urge to eat, I have to think it through. How will I feel later? Is it hunger or a feeling? I can do this because I'm awesome!

Yay!!!! You ARE awesome and yes, you CAN do this. It IS doable.

I struggle with the nights as well, as do many people I think. Yes, I even plan that . I try to have something in mind to do every single night. Something to take my focus off of the food. Whether it be cleaning out a dresser drawer, hemming a pair of pants, doing my nails, straightening the house, reading a particular magazine, just SOMETHING (the "Y" is a great idea). I also always have a large cup of hot flavored tea every night.

Thinking it through before we eat is another good habit to implement into your life. Self talk is also vital. We need to constantly remind ourselves of why we're passing up on the so and so and that if hunger isn't the problem, well then, FOOD isn't the answer.

Hang tough, especially in the beginning. Hang tough. Stick to it like glue. Like glue. Remember, it's SO worth it. More then you can imagine. You won't ever regret losing the weight. Not for a teeny, tiny second. In fact, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Good News. I stayed on track last night. I did go to the Y and didn't get home until 10. I think I'll try another evening activity that will keep me occupied and I will get results. Cleaning is not my favorite, but it is rewarding when its done. I'll have to come up with other ideas. There's a table in my house that needs to be painted.

I'm so glad you stayed on track yesterday. Today's another day. Stick with it!!! Keep building and piling up those good days.

And keep those little projects coming. They are a HUGE help in STICKING with your plan - oh and you get lots accomplished.

One day at a time.... One day at a time.... Keep building. You CAN do this.
