100 miles..in 100 days...
31 miles in 30 days- done
61 miles in 61 days- done day 62- wicked tom..,missing today day 67 - walked 5 more miles- 66 miles so far..counting down to 100 miles now.. |
Thanks for starting this thread, Patti. If it's all right with you I'll post my trek to Seattle here. Maybe posting here will keep me accountable (sp?) so I'll keep :ebike: along.
|
I did 5 miles today. Planned to do 10 but stopped after 5. I'm doing a 5 minute mile.
I got as far as the Y where I-90 intersects with Hwy 93. Hwy 93 goes to Kalispell, Flathead Lake, and Glacier National Parks. Right now there are fires burning along 93. It has been closed several times due to fire lately. A lot of people from that area had been evacuated but I think they're back home now. |
OK,
I didn't quite get in 1 mile, I thought it was a mile around my block but turns out its about 3/4 mile. I'll walk farther tomorrow to make up. Day 1 - 8/22 - 3/4 mile Day 2 - 8/23 - 2 miles (at work wasn't going to count this.....) Day 3 - 8/24 - 2 miles (at work again, didn't have patti's determination) -Tech |
I haven't decided where I'm walking to yet.
Day 1: 4.5 miles (August 22) Day 2: 3 miles Day 3: 6.5 miles Day 4: 2.5 miles Day 5: 3 miles Day 6: 4 miles Day 7: 5.5 miles Day 8: 4 miles Day 9: 3 miles Day 10: 2.5 miles Days 11-12 2 miles each day...a little slow! |
Last night I biked 5 more miles. I am now at Frenchtown, MT. This is where our 2 granddaughters up here go to school. It's a small town along I-90. At one time it was thought that Frenchtown would be the hub of the area. The railroad came through and changed things causing Missoula to be the hub.
|
I can't remember if I told ya'll the reason I'm biking instead of walking. It's cause of my poor tootsies. I can't always depend on being able to treadmill. So far so good biking!! :ebike:
|
whew it was close last night ..it started to pour so i thought I couldnt get my walking in..but ...late last night (like 11;30) I thought why not walk aroudn the house..I used to do this last winter when it was too cold or stormy to go outside) so I did. Im so smart sometimes...ahahahaha
|
I got my 5 miles in last night through a wine haze. I am somewhere near Huson, MT. (just a small town)
|
I think I'm going to head out and see how far the walk to CVS is. My sinuses are really bugging me.
-Tech |
Donna, I hope your sinuses are better. What did you take for them?
I did 2 more miles last night. Just checked the "Interstate Authority." I'm now just west of Huson, MT. The weather couldn't be better. The temp is 71* right now and the sun is shining. I hope to do at least 8 miles today to make up for just going 2 yesterday. I was wiped out yesterday but feel more energized today. |
I did 2 more miles today. I'm at mile marker 82 on I-90. This is the exit for the Nine Mile Ranger Station. Pack mules are kept here for firefighting. Here's a photo:http://www.ghostrailsinn.com/Images/GR-9MilePix.jpgThere's a museum here at the Nine Mile Ranger Station that's all about the early days of rangering and mule packing in the back country. My mother-in-law used to live out Nine Mile Road near this station.
Tomorrow I hope to :ebike: on to Alberton, MT. |
thats so cool Sandra,,,I love your little history bites along the way...
|
Thanks, Patti. I have done 1.5 miles so far today. I'm heading down to the :ebike: to do some more.
|
5 more miles today :ebike: got me to mile marker 77. Alberton, MT. Home of Montana Valley Bookstore.
http://www.montanavalleybookstore.com/photos/store.jpg. The sign along I-90 says: http://www.montanavalleybookstore.com/photos/sign2.jpg but there actually over 150,000 used books. I just read that many of the books here were picked up by the owner's father while he was biking around the British Isles years and years ago. Lots of rare books here. |
OK,
Day 1 - 8/22 - 3/4 mile Day 2 - 8/23 - 2 miles Day 3 - 8/24 - 2 miles Day 4 - 8/25 - none (wasn't feeling up to it :o) Day 5 - 8/26 - 1 mile - snuck this in after we got home Day 6 - 8/27 - 2 mile - my usual Monday walk at the park with my parents may try to squeeze in an extra tonight after dinner before b-day cake. Sandra - I love you're trip details. I'm supposed to go riding tomorrow may have to work out that route to Chicago. I take flonase (actually generic) for my allergies, it seems to really help I've just run out and haven't been to the pharmacy to refill. -Tech |
Donna, I've heard a lot of good things about Flonase. Does it make you jittery? We get allergy problems and have trouble finding something that won't hurt our archery. Hard to hold steady on a target if you're shaking.
I'd love to read about your "journey to Chicago." I'm using The Interstate Authority to help me know where I am on my journey. This book tells us what's at every exit on every interstate highway. We use it religiously when traveling. I haven't :ebike: yet today but will do so shortly. I'll be back to post later. |
I :ebike: 2 miles today. I'm at the other Alberton exit.
|
4 miles :ebike: 1 mile :tread: I am at mile marker 72.
|
Just checked the Interstate Authority. I ended yesterday at a parking area that has litter barrels. (72mm) I've already gone 1 more mile today. I need to :ebike: 4 more miles to reach the next exit.
|
I just finished another 4 miles :ebike: I am at 66mm. That's Fish Creek exit.
Hole in the Wall Resort is located just off this exit. It's a great looking dude ranch for anyone who's interested. http://www.holeinthewallranch.com/im..._left_logo.gif |
I'm already enjoying this "pretend" journey, and I'm seeing the miles melt away. What a ride! :ebike:
I need to mark off the ounces this quickly. :goodscale: This is fun! :dancer: |
I'm changing my list to match Patti's
Day 1 - 8/22 - 3/4 mile Day 2 - 2.75 miles Day 3 - 4.75 miles Day 4 - 4.75 (wasn't feeling up to it ) Day 5 - 5.75 - snuck this in after we got home Day 6 - 7.75 Day 7 - 9 miles + 9 miles on my bike Day 8 - 10.5 miles Day 9 - 12.0 miles + 3 more on bike = 12 on bike Day 10 - 13.5 miles Day 11 - 10/1 - 16.5 miles Day 12 - 17.5 miles Day 13 - 17.5 miles (couldn't get moving) Day 14 - 19.0 miles (at work again) Day 15 - 20 miles + 6 more on bike = 18 on bike Day 16 - 21.5 miles + 3 more on bike = 21 on bike Day 17 - 23 miles Day 18 - 25 miles Day 19 - 25 miles (could not make myself move this seems to happen once a week :o) Day 20 - 27 miles (met my parents at the park :)) Day 21 - 29 miles (work again :^:) Day 22 - 29 miles (no walking today :( ) + 7.5 biking = 29.5 on bike Day 23 - 30.5 miles (work once again) Day 24 - 30.5 miles (no exercise just loading the car and driving) Day 25 - 32.5 miles (walked around a semi show) + 23 bike ride  = 52.5 miles on bike Day 26 - 33.5 miles (including 94 stairs) Day 27 - 33.5 miles (again car riding only) Day 28 - 35.5 miles (work again) Most of my miles have been at work :( my goal was to increase by a mile a day but so far haven't been able to accomplish that. Need to improve. The link is going to get shorter w/o Sandra posting. Sandra - I don't have a problem with the Flonase but then not much makes me jittery, everything gives me a headache though. -Tech |
Right now, I'm still here, Donna. Looks like you've put on some mighty impressive mileage. I won't be able to keep up but I'll pedal as much as possible.
|
:high:I did 1 mile today on the sold :ebike: :high:
|
Hi all,
I've been updating my list a few posts ago. According to that I have 21.5 walking miles and 21 biking miles. I'm actually pretty happy. I've decided not to worry about the walking miles being mostly at work, but to concentrate on walking on the days I don't work. With 42.5 miles covered I've reached I-94 exit 161/Chelsea, MI on my trip to Chicago. Only 16 miles to go and I can make a stop at one of my favorite wineries :D Have a great day everyone. -Tech |

OK,
With 3.5 more miles walked I'm about exit 157. Still in Chelsea and decided to make a stop at the Purple Rose Theater founded by Jeff Daniels. I'm planning to go bike riding today if the rain stops and should be able to make it to the winery :) This is kind of fun Sandra. -Tech |

Rhonda |
Rhonda, you're a hoot. I started my trek at the I-90 mile marker on the west side of town so I could get on my way fast. I didn't go across town.
Donna, this is fun, isn't it? I'll be biking soon. Got to go. Someone's here. |
Okay, I am going to start back on my journey as soon as we're out of the house. We're to be out of here by Wed evening. I'll start something Thursday--even if it's just walking around the RV place. Our RV had an accident yesterday at the dealership so they're ordering it a new jack. We're not able to have it hauled to the RV Park till either later this week or next week. We're at the mercy of the factory. We are loading the condo now right there at the dealership. I don't know if we'll be sleeping there later this week or if we'll be at a motel. Regardless--I'm walking and I'm back on program.
So what about my trip to Seattle? I know I always seem to fizzle on these challenges. This time I'm going to just take a detour. I'm going to restart Thursday and head from Missoula to Texas. That seems appropriate under the circunstances. Donna, I'm enjoying your journey. Rhonda, hurry up and get out of town. |

Good Afternoon All,
Road my bike to ww and then around the neighborhood to try to get 10 miles in, didn't quite make it but I did do 8.5 miles :) Still need a walk today but at least I got in a ride. This puts my totals at: 29 miles walked + 29.5 miles biked = 58.5 total miles That gets me to the exit for one of my favorite wineries. They're 2.5 miles off the express way (my measurements are following the expressway) so hopefully I can walk that far tonight. -Tech |
Didn't make it out again on Wednesday. And just counted my miles from work for yesterday. This weekend it'll be a challenge getting in my walking miles, although the 25 miles on the bike will definitely boost the activity level.
Have a great weekend everyone. -Tech |
Decided to repost my list so it was closer to the bottom than the middle.
Day 1 - 8/22 - 3/4 mile Day 2 - 2.75 miles Day 3 - 4.75 miles Day 4 - 4.75 (wasn't feeling up to it ) Day 5 - 5.75 - snuck this in after we got home Day 6 - 7.75 Day 7 - 9 miles + 9 miles on my bike Day 8 - 10.5 miles Day 9 - 12.0 miles + 3 more on bike = 12 on bike Day 10 - 13.5 miles Day 11 - 10/1 - 16.5 miles Day 12 - 17.5 miles Day 13 - 17.5 miles (couldn't get moving) Day 14 - 19.0 miles (at work again) Day 15 - 20 miles + 6 more on bike = 18 on bike Day 16 - 21.5 miles + 3 more on bike = 21 on bike Day 17 - 23 miles Day 18 - 25 miles Day 19 - 25 miles (could not make myself move this seems to happen once a week :o) Day 20 - 27 miles (met my parents at the park :)) Day 21 - 29 miles (work again :^:) Day 22 - 29 miles (no walking today :( ) + 7.5 biking = 29.5 on bike Day 23 - 30.5 miles (work once again) Day 24 - 30.5 miles (no exercise just loading the car and driving) Day 25 - 32.5 miles (walked around a semi show) + 23 bike ride  = 52.5 miles on bike Day 26 - 33.5 miles (including 94 stairs) Day 27 - 33.5 miles (again car riding only) Day 28 - 35.5 miles (work again) Day 29 - 37.5 miles (mom came into town and we walked the village) Day 30 - 39 miles (work again) + 6.5 on bike = 59 on bike Day 31 - 40.5 miles (work again) Day 32 - 43 miles (@ Cedar Point, pedometer read 5 miles but I'm only taking 1/2 since they were mostly in line) Day 33 - 43 miles (too busy drinking wine) Day 34 - 45 miles (walked w/mom @ park) - Tech :bike2: |
Amazing, girl!
|

I've passed through Jackson, MI: http://www.cityofjackson.org/images/downtown.jpg Made a brief stop to visit my niece at Albion College: http://www.albion.edu/admissions/campusvisit/Pano.jpg And another in historic downtown Marshall: http://www.marshallmich.com/hometour...franke_jpg.jpg and am now am on the business route into Battle Creek, MI: http://www.battlecreekmich.com/festival/fest1.jpg I'm having fun, hope you're enjoying this too :^: -Tech :bike2: |

Hi gals,
Patti - You are doing great!! You don't miss very often do you? After a pretty gloomy week my total is at 114 miles, which puts me @ exit 88 on I-94. This puts me on the exit to Galesburg, MI. Where apparently there is a speedway. http://www.galesburgspeedway.com/Nav.../GS_TopLft.jpg http://www.galesburgspeedway.com/Nav...n/GS_MdLft.jpg http://www.galesburgspeedway.com/Nav...n/GS_btLft.jpg I'm close to Kalamazoo, hopefully this week. -Tech |

OK, I have been walking an average of 4 miles a day. I'll have to do the math a little later:carrot: |
I've driven almost 1000 miles since Friday afternoon. Does that count? No, I guess it doesn't.
When we get to the RV Ranch, I'll get started exercising and keeping up with the miles again. Plus, I'm going to have to decide where I'm going this time. Or maybe I could just keep heading to Seattle from Missoula. I guess that would make as much sense as going from/to anywhere else, wouldn't it? Donna, I love reading about your adventure. Keep pedaling and posting, friend. Rhonda, congratulations to you for walking 4 miles per day. That's impressive. Okay, I need to get with it. Should be starting back Wednesday. |
