  • Welcome!

...To the December exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework! Early in the month (or before it starts) set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! To date, we have exercised almost 180,000 minutes! Here's the monthly breakdown:

    January: 9418 minutes
    February: 11,129 minutes
    March: 15,917 minutes
    April: 10,700 minutes
    May: 16,091 minutes
    June: 13,603 minutes
    July: 14,758 minutes
    August: 26,640 minutes
    September: 21,748 min
    October: 20,639 min
    November: 18,166 min

    TOTAL: 178,809 minutes thru November

We blew past our 100K goal... and are setting our sights on 200K!! It's going to be a stretch -- help us, and get fitter in the process!

Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

    Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's get moving and shaking in December!!
  • I am going to set my goal a little higher this month. I should actually have more time for exercise, so let's see how it goes: 1500 minutes!!!
  • personl goal is 420 a little low but still better than nothing!
  • wait i posted the wrong minutes let me figure it out again
  • ok i meant 1400 for the month!
  • since i didn't make it this month, i'll try for the same goal. put me down for 1500 in december. i know i'll make it this time!!
  • I love the thread title!

Put me down, yet again, for 950. I'll make it this month!
  • I'll go with 1700 minutes.
  • I will make my November goal, so I will add 100 minutes to that for December, making my goal 1300.
  • Count me in for 400 in December.

By the way, VERY clever thread title.
  • Here I am again. Going to try some different exercise this month, but the time I'm at my mother's will be hard to get exercise in. I'm going to try for 500 minutes... last chance for me to make a monthly goal in 2006.
  • Quote: By the way, VERY clever thread title.
    Thank Katt for the title!!

Anyone want to come up with a clever one for January?? You have a month to think of one!
  • Well I met my original monthly goal for November, but not my second one, and I'm okay with it considering I haven't been feeling well, etc. So, for all but 10 days of December I will be visiting family, but I don't want that to affect my cardio (strength training...well I have to get creative for that). Okay, down to the point...December monthly goal will be 1465
(Breakdown of my monthly goal: 1240 minutes of cardio, and 225 minutes of strength training).
We'll see if I can go on a trip and stay active there AND when I get back this time!
  • Hmm, well I was going to increase my goal this month, BUT with Christmas coming I know I won't exercise as much, in fact I will probably struggle to meet my goal, but i will still make it 1500

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • 100 minutes.
    hopefully more!
