  • Hay guys I just wanted to post a poll, if you want to leave comments about your height as well and whether your choice is working for you that would be great, maybe it will help some others out there!!
  • I am 5'5" myself and am keeping in the 1400-1500 range and its giving me about a 12 lb a month loss so far.....
  • I'm also 5'5" and doing well on just under 1600 calories per day. On weekends I have one or two hundred calories more. I'm losing at around 1 lb. per week. I work out 3x a week at Curves.
  • good job!!!
  • Generally I keep to about an average of 1700 cal a day. (But this can vary quite a bit, 1400 one day 2200 another day 1500 another day 1800 yet another day and so on). However, when I was at a higher weight, I would eat more calories in a day. When I started losing at 272lbs I was eating about 2200 a day. But since then it has gradually lowered a bit. Over the course of the past 17 mos. I have lost 91 lbs for a average loss of 5.35 lbs a month. And the more weight I lose, the less I will be able to have in terms of calories.
I hope that this helps someone.
  • I don't have an option to vote! I eat 800-1000 a day and have a couple of "free" days a month. I used to eat 600 (when I was in the morbidly obese range), but I'm a lot smaller now and had to up my caloric intake (also reducing the speed of my weight loss). I've lost 106 pounds in 32 weeks (about 3.3 pounds/week; 13 pounds a month). But I wouldn't recommend this for anyone; it's tremendously challenging. I regret choosing this diet.

    I'm 5'7''
  • I average 1200 calories per day. I also swim for an hour or an hour and a half a minimum of 4 days per week (usually 5). However, I have an endocrine disorder that makes it very hard to lose weight. I gained a lot of weight because of it, but now that I'm treating it, my body doesn't handle certain foods (mostly carbs, some forms of protein) correctly... which results in me not wanting to eat. Its REALLY easy for me to skip meals, which is really bad.
  • wow you guys are all doing awesome! this will definitely help people who are trying to calorie count!
  • I do 1200 a day, but poking around on the maintainer's forum I'm not sure 1200 really is the dangerous minimum everyone thinks it is. I think with the right foods in the diet and closely paid attention, 1000 could be as healthy. However, I try to eat in a range that I will be willing to eat for the rest of my life, and 1200-1300 is that for me. I've found looking at my protein really helps me to stay full all day too.
  • I usually stay in in the 1500 range, but somedays I sneak up to 1600. I try to stay below that. I do cheat once a week--I try to stay light on the cheat. My height is 5' 8"
  • I know what you mean blues about the 1000 and agree you should stay where you are most comfortable, Though I think 1000 is a tad bit low and while it may not kill you it certainly could slow your metabolism a little bit from what I heard!
  • Im 5'4". I average 1400-1600 calories with a 1 lb loss a week.
  • 5'11 I try to stay around 1300 to 1500...
  • I'm 5 foot 5 inches tall, 37 years old....I try to stay in the 1200 range, sometimes I go a little lower, sometimes a little higher.
  • I try to stay in the 1200 range because im smaller- 5'4" and because i do not excercise as i should. im also an "instant gratification person" so once i heard 1200 was as low as you could safely go - thats what i aimed for in hopes that it would get me to my goal faster.
